Chapter 34: Plays

“I have an idea” Liam said a bit loud.

Thomas looked at him and rolled his eyes.

“no ideas now mehn. Just focus on loving your girl while I love mine.” Thomas replied laughing out loud.

“You think so?”

“I know so.”

Later that evening, Kate had just gotten back from work when she met Liam already at her door waiting for her to return.

“oh my gosh! I am so sorry I kept you waiting.”

“No you didn’t. I just came around though.” he replied and then we went in.

“I need to make you something.” Kate said as she dropped her bag wanting to head to the kitchen.

“You don’t have to. Just freshen up. I will make something for you.” he said to her as he helped her unzipped her dress, teasing her at the same time.

“Can you cook?” shocked Kate asked. No man has ever cooked for her. She couldn’t even remember anyone doing that for her, aside Anita.

“Try me!” he said and walked into the kitchen.

By the time Kate freshened up and came into the sitting room, Liam was already done. This alone shocked Kate to her bone marrow.

Like, how could he do it.

“Hey baby! I am done.” he called out to her from the dinning area.

After much contemplation, they had decided to call themselves babe.

“I want to visit you home. Can I?” Kate asked after a long silence as they ate.

“Of course you can. My house is yours as well.” he said.

“Okay babe! I will visit sometime tomorrow. I need to be with Anita today alright.”

“it’s fine, I will drop you off. Eat up.”

“This food is so delicious. I can’t eat it alone. Anita deserves to have some. Where did you learn to cook this good?”

Laughing, he patted her head like she was a child and stood up. There was no way he would tell her that it was his ex girlfriend’s favourite and that he had to learn to cook it right?

“I will get you some fruit juice.” he said and walked into the kitchen again.

It was after he left that his phone vibrated.

Kate was enjoying her food so happily when she noticed his phone vibrating repeatedly.

She didn’t bother at first because it didn’t sound like a phone call. It sounded like he was being messaged repeatedly.

“Who is trying to reach out to him?” she said quietly.

She wanted to ignore again, but on remembering that he was a police man, she thought it must be urgent.

Not wanting to be the reason her lover would fail to his duties, she picked up the phone and headed to head to the kitchen when her eyes mistakenly caught something. A message from Rita…

It read “Hey honey! We were supposed to see today. Don’t tell me you ran back to your little pet…”

Kate froze in shock.

Like seriously? Does she really have to deal with this?

No way!

In a few seconds, Kate was cool again as she dropped the phone and continued with her food.

“Hey baby! I am back. Taste it and let me know what it taste like. I had to make you some fresh one. I like my baby healthy.” he said, not noticing that something was already off.

Clearing her throat, “Thank you! That was so thoughtful.” Kate replied as she strived hard to eat the food that was already so tasteless in her tongue.

“It’s nice. Erm, I heard your phone vibrating. You should check. I was too busy with this sweet delicacy that I couldn’t bring it to you in the kitchen. Pardon me.”

“No it’s fine.”

He then picked it up and looked at it.

“Kate I think I have to leave now.” he said as he stood up and dashed out of the house even before Kate could react and shut the door.

Kate heart sank.

She had never felt this stupid in her entire existence.

Her ex had done everything in her face and she was already used to that.

Could he be pretending to love me?

Oh my God I am doomed.

Kate could no longer control how she was feeling as she stood up and smashed all the cooked meal on the dinning to the floor.

“How dare you? How dare you? How could you do that to me? After everything. You couldn’t even be honest with me.” she placed her back on the wall as she sobbed.

She then headed into her room, picked up her phone and ran to Anita’s apartment in hopes that she would meet her girlfriend.

Anita had a busy day at work. She and her crew had important missions coming up, so she had a whole lot to work on.

After work, she didn’t even waste another seconds in her office as she made her way home.

On getting home, she was more than surprised to see a sad Kate standing at her door helplessly.

She clearing hasn’t seen kate in that mood for a while.

“How long have you been standing here?” she asked Kate.

Kate who was already carried say jumped up in fright before turning to see her girlfriend.

“What is wrong dear? Did something happen?” Anita asked, surprise by how worried her friend looked.

It was then that Kate busted into tears as she ran straight to Anita and hugged her tight.

“Tell me dear. What happened?” Anita looked terrified as she hurriedly opened the door and took her girlfriend in before they would start drawing neighbours attention.

In her sitting room, Anita could not believe what she was seeing.

Like, for real, her girlfriend was weeping.

For what exactly?

Hugging her tight.

“What is going on Kate? Please talk to me?”

“Liam. Anita, it’s Liam you will not believe.” Kate said a but loud as she covered her face in Anita’s shoulders.
