SWIFT’S FAMILY HOME

Alpha Carl could make out some of the murmurings from the family members. They probably didn’t know that a werewolf has a keen sense of hearing. Some complimented his good look while someone mentioned something about Meagan being different.

“Why did she choose to marry a wolf this time? Last time, it was a bully.”

Carl heard it clearly but was glad that his mate won’t know if not it would only make things awkward for her.

Mr Swift pulled out of the embrace and went to Carl. “I don’t know much about you but I am happy to welcome you to the family.” He shook hands with alpha Carl.

Alpha Carl Damien tried to study his expression and Mr Swift was sincere. Does it mean that he has been accepted by her father? He mused.

“I have heard so much about you from Meagan.” Alpha Carl smiled.

“I hope she told you good things about me?” Mr Swift chuckled.

Mrs Swift joined them and she greeted her daughter with a smug look on her face. Even Meagan was surprised by her warm welcoming attitude.

“I am happy that you have finally found him.” Mrs Swift purred into her daughter’s ears.

Meagan’s sibling also came around to exchanged pleasantries with Carl.

“Too many introductions to do but this is the perfect time to get to meet our extended family.” Mr Swift said.

“Carl, meet Penelope, Jasmine, Benjamin and of course Collins who you already met at the door. They are my siblings.” Meagan introduced them briefly.

“Carl Damien.” The alpha exchanged pleasantries with the siblings.

“It is good to have you in the family.” Penelope winked at her sister.

Mr Swift turned to face the family members and he cleared his throat. “Listen up everyone. There is an addition to the family. Permit me to introduce to you my beautiful daughter’s fiancé. His name is Carl Damien, the alpha of the famous moon stone pack.” He said loudly with pride in his tone.

Everyone clapped. “That’s not all. We are set to pick a date for their wedding and welcome my daughter into the marital fold.” Mrs Swift joked and everyone laughed.

“Isn’t that too fast?”

Meagan heard the familiar voice as she was about to settle down next to Carl. She had heaved a sigh of relief when she didn’t see this old lady at the table. But Aunt Julia was present for Thanksgiving. She had walked in from the kitchen when the siblings introduction was going on.

Penelope rolled her eyes. “Aunt Julia, what do you mean by too fast?” She asked.

“I mean.. the wedding. Your father said they haven’t been together for long.” Aunt Julia focused her attention on Meagan who avoided her gaze immediately.

She already knew Aunt Julia would bring up the tradition.

“Do they really have to court or date each other for long years before getting married?” Mrs Taylor fired back at Aunt Julia.

She knew what this old lady was trying to do. Talk down on her daughter because all of her daughters are yet to get married? Mrs Taylor wasn’t going to let Aunt Julia get away this time.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

“I am not saying they have to court each other for many years.. but less a than two months relationship is too short to decide to get married.” Aunt Julia snorted.

Alpha Carl reached out to touch his mate’s hand under the table. She looked up at him and he flashed her a reassuring smile.

“All I am-”

“We are having a baby.” Meagan blurted out as she turned to look at her father.

Everyone gasped out in shock except for Penelope who already knows about it.

“I am sorry mom.. dad for not telling you. I didn’t want to share such news over the phone.” Meagan apologized.

“No.. no.. Meagan. You don’t need to apologize. I mean.. this is great news!” Mr Swift clapped his hands. He was super excited to hear about it. And once again his attitude caught his daughter off guard.

“Listen Meagan, it doesn’t matter how long you have been seeing your fiancé. As a matter of fact, time doesn’t matter at all. I can clearly see that he loves you.” Mrs Swift added with a bright smile on her face.

Meagan nodded in agreement. “That’s all that matters.” Penelope eyed Aunt Julia before she scooped food into her mouth.

“And I think.. it is far more better than calling off your wedding even after courting your spouse for long years.” Jasmine shrugged.

Aunt Julie looked at Jasmine. “Are you trying to insult me?” She frowned.

Jasmine covered her mouth. “Am I? I didn’t call Aunt Julia’s name or Arya’s. I am just trying to say that different things work for different people.” She said with a shrug.

Some of the family members stiffed back a laugh because they knew Jasmine was throwing shades at Aunt Julia and her only daughter that was presence for Thanksgiving.

“Jasmine, don’t make it look like your life as a married woman is better than mine.” Arya spat.

Carl recognized her voice to be the person who had commented about his mate being different. He already hates her in his head.

“Of course, my life is not perfect but I am married with two lovely children. Oh! I remember! You boasted of getting married this year at the last Thanksgiving and you even mocked Meagan for not having a boyfriend. Look, it is November! So when do I get a wedding invitation?” Jasmine stretched out her hand but it didn’t reach Arya who sat across her from the table.

Fury crashed over Arya. “I am not giving you an invitation anymore! And how dare you have the gut to insult me when someone is about to change the family history? A wolf? A human? What would be the baby’s identity?” She mocked.

“An hybrid.” Collins replied.

General pandemonium escalated around the table. Everyone present argued about the identity of the baby. Alpha Carl Damien gave his mate’s hand a small squeeze. Arya doesn’t have any right to talk about their unborn child. And Meagan was ashamed and disappointed because they are arguing right in front of her husband to be.

“You are just a bitter woman, Arya! You are jealous because my sister who didn’t have a boyfriend last year is getting married before you!” Jasmine snapped at Arya.

Her family is so peaceful but it only seems to spell trouble whenever Aunt Julia and her daughters are around.

“Everybody calm down…” Mr Swift tried to silence them but it didn’t work.

Jasmine and Arya threw insults at each other. These two women are the same age but never on good terms.
