MEAGAN SWIFT HOME

Alpha Carl Damien woke up to a beeping sound from the alarm clock next to the bed. He grumbled some profanity before trying to reach out his hand to turn it off but it didn’t work out. Meagan’s weight was on him as she was still snuggling close to him with her arms and legs wrapped around his body.

Alpha Carl wondered what the time was as he detached himself from Meagan who stirred in her sleep but soon settled back to sleep peacefully. He was surprised to see the time-4:00 p. m.

They had slept for more than eight hours. It has been so long since he had such a good sleep. Seeing that Meagan didn’t step out of bed while he was asleep only means that it’s her day off at work. Alpha Carl concluded as he threw the bed sheet away from his body and crawled out of the bed. He was starving. And Carl decided to have a bathe before going to Meagan’s little kitchen to prepare dinner before she wakes up too.

After doing his thing in the bathroom, he went through Meagan’s closet and found some male T-shirt and short that sized him but he couldn’t help but wondered who owns them. Max? He thought. But he shrugged off the feeling as he made his way to the kitchen.

Alpha Carl stopped on getting to the entrance when he heard his cellphone ringtone. He motioned towards the living room to get his phone on the couch. He remembered leaving it there while he was trying to persuade Meagan to be his mate but all that was over now.

Alpha Carl saw some missed calls from Hazel and Julius. They must have called to ask him about Meagan’s response to his proposal. But this time his mom was calling him.

“Hello mom.” He said after picking up the call.

“Hi Carl, how have you been?” His mother’s sweet voice sounded over the phone.

“I am good. What about you?” He asked.

“I am better. You didn’t answer your uncle’s calls last night. He’s so worried about you.” She said.

“Oh.. I was busy. But I planned to call him later today and also talk to you too.” He answered.

“But why not call him now?” She demanded.

“Don’t worry mom, I’ll give him a call.” That’s all he could say.

Mrs Gabriella Damien heaved a loud sigh over the phone. “Well.. I am calling about our last discussion. You haven’t said anything about finding another mate and getting married. Carl, you are not growing younger. At this age, you should think of starting your own family. And most importantly, you need a heir that would take over the pack when you are too old to think about the pack.”

Alpha Carl Damien knew she was going to talk about him finding a mate and getting married and having pups. That has been her only lecture for quite sometime now. And he knew his mother was going to have a million questions about Meagan if he spilled it that he already found a mate.

“Is silence all I’ll get this time?” Mrs Gabriella Damien asked.

“Carl-”

“I found someone.” Carl interrupted her. He was ready to deal with it and answer any of her questions.

“What? You found someone?” Mrs Gabriella Damien questioned.

“Listen Carl, at this point you don’t need someone.. not just anyone. You need a mate. A wolf who is ready to be your Luna and bear your pups! Not some damn career woman like Madison!” Mrs Gabriella Damien scolded her son in a raised tone.

Alpha Carl Damien rolled his eyes at his mother’s words. He was expecting such response from her.

For some reasons, Mrs Gabriella Damien never liked Madison. She felt Madison doesn’t love Carl like she claimed and she is only interested in being in his life for his money. Mrs Damien had even warned her son about Madison on the first day she met her. She was happy and mad at the same time when she heard that Madison chose her career over being a Luna. And she comforted her son by telling him that they weren’t meant to be in the first place.

Mrs Gabriella Damien doesn’t live in the pack anymore. After the death of her mate, she had moved out of the pack to reside in her family home. But some months later, Carl had bought her a house by the sea side. It was her desire since she was young but she couldn’t get one because she had to live her whole life in the pack as a Luna.

Mrs Gabriella Damien was a devoted Luna who has contributed greatly to the development of moon stone pack. Despite living far away, she still comes around to check on her son and sometimes tutor the young wolves on how to live a good and disciplined life.

“Mom, I have a mate now.” Carl emphasized loudly with excitement in his tone.

“Oh really?! Wait, are you trying to lie to me just to stop my nagging? If I find out it’s not true, I am going to set you up on a blind date with the young women around here.” She said in a stern tone.

“Come on mom. I am not trying to play games here. Believe me, I have someone.. no.. a mate.” The response Carl got was silence until he called at his mother.

“Who is she?” Mrs Gabriella Damien asked.

“Her name is Meagan Swift.” Carl answered.

“I see. And what does she do for a living?” She asked again.

“Meagan is a medical doctor and she is a human. She-”

“A doctor? A human? Why did you decide to make such a person your mate? Listen, I know her profession sounds notable unlike some skinny girl walking half naked on platforms but she is a human! Would she be willing to let go of her normal life to spend the rest of her life in a pack?! And how long have you known her?!” Mrs Gabriella Damien demanded.

Carl let out a sigh. “Come on mom. I know you are worried about me but please can you stop bringing up Madison? I am simply trying to move on from my past but each time we have a discussion you always seem to remind me of her. And being a career woman is really not a bad thing like you are painting it. So let’s just take it that Madison and I weren’t meant to be.” His voice pleaded with him mom.

Alpha Carl knew if he didn’t voice out his opinion then his mom would definitely bring up Madison if she finally gets to meet Meagan.

“Alright. But I am not making a promise that I won’t talk about her anymore. You should have listened to me when I warned you about her.” Mrs Gabriella Damien replied.

Alpha Carl sighed in frustration. His mom would definitely keep on talking about his ex-girlfriend.
