Branch Sixty Five
The ride back was comfortable and a flow from the earlier vibe felt by both parties. The radio was playing a slow song and both parties just sat while Xavier drove.
The silence was comfortable enough that Jessica found herself sleeping already. Xavier noticed her sleeping when her head jerked as she slept. Xavier helped her move her head to a comfortable position so her neck doesn’t ache.
After driving for long he pulled up to the gate of the mansion. Everywhere was dark and gloom and he still needed to go out to meet Jason. He would throw a grown-man tantrum if he did not come.
Xavier parked his car in front of the main entrance. He did not want to wake Jessica up as it looked like she was sleeping soundly. He quietly switched off the car and opened the door. He went to the passenger side of the car. He opened up the door and gently removed the seatbelt from her body.
In his arms, he carried her bridal style and instructed the staff standing close by to bring in her bag.
Jessica stirred in her sleep. Her nose caught a whiff of Xavier’s perfume. She knew what he smelt like but this was the first time she was smelling him so intimately. She did not want to open up her eyes because if she did they would both feel uncomfortable, so she pretended to still be asleep and allowed him to carry her up the stairs.
Xavier opened the door of the room. The memory of her leaving to sleep downstairs flooded his mind. He was not going to allow her to sleep there again tonight so he put her to sleep in the bed.
He dropped her and covered her up with the blanket. She needed to change her clothes but he could not do that and he did not want to wake her up to do so because she was probably tired from the day’s activities, the visit to the station, and then the long ride to and back from the beach.
“I guess she would wake up later” Xavier mumbled gently.
He stared at her gently before standing to take his leave. He knew that he might not be back home until later the next day because Jason had always been a big pain whenever he came to visit.
He was around for a deal they needed to sign and he said he would stick around because he heard of Alicia’s launch party and he had forever had a big crush on her.
He had asked her out countless times but she had turned them down as she was interested in growing her family business instead of settling down in marriage.
“Roselle,” Xavier said as he got down. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
The woman left her work in the kitchen and came to stand in front of him.
“You called young master,” she said bowing her head a little.
“Jessica has had a very long and tiring day. Can you prepare something so she can eat whenever she wakes up?” he asked her
“Sure thing young master” she replied.
Xavier nodded once and turned to leave the house.
“Oh the young master is falling in love”
Jessica sat up straight when she knew Xavier would be far away from the house. She removed the blanket from her and looked down at her dress. It was stained and she hoped she would be able to get the stain off it.
She entered the closet only to discover that her clothes were no longer there. She entered back into the room and stared at her suitcase by the door.
She planned to leave the room as soon as she had gotten home. Xavier’s warmth today and consideration made her feel strange about leaving the room. If she did not leave it would mean she was fickle and did not have a mind of her own.
If she left it would mean she did not consider him after all the help she got. She was confused. She was sure she needed an opinion that was not hers.
She looked at her bag on the chair that contained her phone. She pulled it out and stared at the screen. She has multiple missed calls from Leslie, Burke, and an unknown number, and then some text messages.
She got to know that the unknown number was Alicia who got her number from Leslie. Both of them were worried and Burke was just apologizing for what Emma did.
When did she unblock Burke’s number and why did she do so? She quickly ignored the message and blocked his number again. She returned Alicia’s call to make her know she was fine.
“I was so worried about you,” Alicia said as the call got connected.
“I did not know that my phone was on silent,” Jessica says.
“I hope you feel better now?” Alicia asked.
If Alicia was left with Emma she would have done many things she would never forget to her but since the victim had agreed to settle she would just let it be and watch the girl closely.
“I am doing good” Jessica answered and it was the truth. Her mood had improved after the beach visit with Xavier. She felt better and energized.
“Would you and your husband be coming to the event tomorrow?” Alicia asked.
Xavier and Jessica although they lived low and quiet lives were the couple of the city and the parties they attended and things they did would be considered the trend.
“I won’t miss it for the world,” Jessica said.
“See you tomorrow then,” Alicia said.
“Good night” Jessica replied.
She called Leslie next. She needed to tell her she was fine and seek advice concerning her current situation. Was she to leave the room or stay?
“I called you a zillion times,” Leslie said when she picked up the phone. “I even called the Delgado mansion to know if you had gotten home but then they said you hadn’t come. I was so worried” Leslie said all at once.
She had left several calls for Jessica and she did not want to call Xavier because she did not like to have conversations as such with him so she called the mansion and they told her that she had not returned home since she left in the morning. Xavier clearly said he was taking her home but now she wasn’t home.
“I have a question”
