A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 944: Begging on Knees

Chole went to answer the phone.

Ranita sat dazed on the bench. She suddenly missed Brendon and wanted to reach out and hug him.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

She felt very sad.

“Ranita… come in for a moment,” Alexia called her inside after opening the door. In front of Benedict, Alexia’s face showed slight hesitation as she reluctantly said, “Ranita, your father talked to me. I won’t interfere with your marriage anymore, nor will I introduce you to any blind dates.”

“You can like whoever you want.” Finally, Alexia looked away and took a deep breath. “Even though I don’t want to interfere, I still won’t agree to you being with Brendon.”

Not forcing her to go on blind dates was already a good result!

Ranita moved closer to Alexia and wrapped her arm around her. “Thank you, Mom.”

“Hmph!” Alexia snorted coldly, still looking displeased. “Why are you thanking me? Thank your dad. He used his illness to threaten me!”

Alexia twisted Benedict’s arm behind her. “You only care about Ranita, right? I’m her mother; don’t I want what’s best for her?”

Benedict felt the pain but didn’t get angry. Instead, he smiled and coaxed Alexia, “Oh, don’t be mad! Each generation has its own blessings. Isn’t it good that Ranita has someone pursuing her even though she has a child? You should worry about Jedidiah and Chole…”

“They are Ranita’s older brother and sister, and all they do is work every day without any plans to start a family. You should worry about them!”

“Jedidiah does need to hurry up! He’s in his thirties and still single. It’s really embarrassing!” Alexia’s attention was indeed diverted. “No, I need to start arranging things for him.”

“And Chole too…”

Ranita held her breath, not daring to say a word, fearing that speaking up would bring trouble upon herself.

At that moment, an unexpected visitor entered the ward.

“Rodolfo? What are you doing here?” Ranita glared at Rodolfo. With everything that had happened recently, she hadn’t had time to confront him, but here he was.

“Ranita, how can you talk like that…” Alexia began, but Rodolfo suddenly knelt before Benedict and Alexia.

“Rodolfo, what are you doing? Get up!” Alexia was startled and immediately reached out to help him up, but Rodolfo remained kneeling.

Compared to a few days ago, Rodolfo looked much more haggard. His lips bore old injuries that had turned into bruises. His meticulously groomed hair was now messy, and his clothes were wrinkled and unkempt, giving him a very disheveled appearance.

“Uncle, Auntie, I’m here to confess!” Rodolfo apologized sincerely to Ranita. “Ranita, I was wrong before. I’m here to sincerely apologize and ask for your forgiveness.”

Ranita remained silent, but Benedict and Alexia were confused. Benedict especially didn’t understand and asked, “Rodolfo, what happened? What’s going on?”

Seeing that Benedict was unaware, Rodolfo looked shocked at Ranita. “Didn’t Ranita tell you?”

Ranita pressed her lips together and said nothing.

Rodolfo seemed prepared as he explained to Benedict and Alexia, “What happened at the banquet that day was my fault. I forcibly took Ranita to the lounge and almost forced myself on her…”
