A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 310 Sorting the Garbage

“Caleb? Are you there?”

There was no answer on the other end of the phone. Ranita furrowed her brow and raised her voice, revealing a hoarseness that had been hidden.

Still feeling dizzy and not quite herself, Ranita vaguely remembered that she might have disturbed Caleb early in the morning. “Caleb, I’m sorry! Did I disturb you? If you have time, please call me back later so we can talk in more detail.”

Just as Ranita was about to hang up, she heard Brendon’s husky voice on the other end, “It’s me, Brendon.”

“Brendon?” Ranita pursed her lips in surprise and felt even more disoriented.

“Be at the civil affairs bureau by ten o’clock or don’t bother coming,” he said coldly before hanging up.

Ranita hurriedly and arrived at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. Along the way, her mind was constantly wandering, and several times she nearly ran a red light.

In the distance, she saw the man standing by the roadside.

Ranita, in a daze, returned to many years ago when she also gazed at the young man under the sunlight, her heart gradually surrendering.

If you were to ask if she regretted these years, Ranita was certainly not regretful. Love may have an unknown ending, but at least she experienced it, embraced it.

In the future, she would forget the pain and only keep those beautiful memories.

Then, she would remember them for a lifetime.

“Let’s go!” Brendon saw her approaching and his stern eyebrows twitched slightly while his voice remained low and hoarse.

His eyes were red with dark circles underneath them; he must not have slept well last night after staying up with Shannon all night long.

Ranita followed him in silence.

When they reached the entrance, the man suddenly stopped and reached to button up his shirt. After he struggled for a moment without success, Ranita stepped forward, “Let me do it.”

With a few swift movements, Ranita instinctively reached out to tidy his shoulder.

“No need!” Her hand was blocked by the man.

Ranita realized her mistake, stepped back a few paces, and lowered her eyes, “I’m sorry!”

Brendon remained silent, lifting his foot to continue walking inside.

According to the regulations, divorce certificates could only be processed 30 days after filing for divorce. Although they didn’t come the last time, fortunately, there was still some time before the divorce application would expire, so they didn’t need to reapply.

The process was completed quickly.

The staff distributed the new documents to them. Ranita took them, pursing her lips, and didn’t dare to open and look at them.

“These are your originals, please keep them safe.” The staff returned their original marriage certificate.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Brendon stood up with a cold expression.

“I’ve already arranged for someone to pack things up. I won’t go back to the apartment from now on. You can move back.”

Ranita softly nodded.

As they reached the entrance, he casually tossed the divorce certificate into the trash bin. Ranita stopped in her tracks, watching him leave from afar. Her heart twisted as she retrieved the marriage certificate from the trash.

“The divorce is finalized, the documents are invalid.” These words made Ranita’s heart ache even more.

From now on, they were no longer husband and wife.

Ranita’s eyes suddenly reddened.

Already feeling a bit lightheaded, Ranita, who was sensitive to the sunlight, sat in the car for a while. She didn’t dare to drive herself, so she called Dylan and waited for him to come.

Brendon, sitting in the car, had a dark expression.

“Stop the car!” Suddenly, Brendon spoke to the driver.

“Sir, are we heading back?” The driver asked perceptively.

Brendon grunted an affirmative response before storming into city hall like a madman and rummaging through every trash bin he could find. But where was their big marriage certificate?
