A Successful Career After Divorce

Brendon’s dark eyes stared at her intensely. His mind was racing, and it took him a while to finally say, “Is that so?”

“Yeah! Everyone has been going through a tough time lately, and I think it’s better to end things according to the plan. Although I also want to continue this marriage, I just can’t bear it anymore. I want to gather the courage to pursue true love.”

Once she started lying, it became easier and easier.

Ranita’s eyes were filled with tears as she stared at Brendon carefully, examining his eyebrows, eyes, nose and lips… She wanted everything about him engraved in her mind.

“Brendon, when I say divorce, I’m not joking.”

Ranita was serious about everything she did; with her meticulous personality she would never joke about something like this. But Brendon felt like someone had ripped out his heart; he couldn’t bear the pain.

“Ranita… Can’t you stay for me?”

He didn’t finish that sentence though; he knew he had to maintain his dignity as an adult.

He wouldn’t beg or plead for her not leave because of him.

“Okay… You can find Caleb and make an appointment with him.”

Brendon let go of Ranita and walked away without looking back or saying another word.

It wasn’t until Ranita left the hospital that she finally breathed a sigh of relief; even her stiff spine relaxed.

The sun shone brightly outside.

“Ding Dong!” A text message came in from Shannon, “Ranita, have you gone back yet? Sorry… It’s all my fault! Don’t blame yourself!”

Ranita almost laughed out loud from anger.

She had planned on leaving directly but since she was already there anyway, she decided to visit Eve instead. However, she unexpectedly saw Shannon and Brendon standing outside VIP ward together.

Shannon looked frail with pale skin like snowflakes ready to fly away if blown by wind. Brendon held Shannon tightly in his arms as if protecting her from harm. It hurt Ranita’s heart badly.

“Ranita… I thought you left already! Are you here visiting Eve?” Shannon spoke softly with curiosity written all over her face.

Ranita replied faintly before noticing Brendon’s gaze fixed on herself.

She pushed open Eve’s door quickly saying goodbye before entering.

The sweat trickled down her back as she could still feel Brendon’s gaze lingering behind hers even after closing the door behind herself.

“Ranita, why did you suddenly come here? You didn’t even say it to me!” Eve was eating potato chips, her mouth resembling a cute little hamster.

“Just you here? Dylan didn’t come?” Eve’s eyes rolled around. “If he saw me snacking, he would definitely scold me!”

Ranita took the potato chips from her hand. “You really shouldn’t eat so much! You gained a lot of weight in the hospital. When you get out, you’ll cry and scream about losing weight again!”

Eve sadly swallowed the chip in her mouth. “Okay! I won’t eat anymore!”

“Why did you suddenly come?”

“To see you.” Just as Ranita finished speaking, Eve’s assistant pushed open the door and greeted Ranita before excitedly saying to Eve, “Guess who I just saw?”

“Shannon! She’s back in the hospital again!” After pausing for a moment, the assistant lowered her voice and gossiped, “And… I went to ask one of the nurses specifically about it. Can you guess why Shannon is hospitalized this time?”This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

The assistant was particularly gossipy with shining eyes. Before Ranita could stop her, she continued, “They said she got pregnant but had an accident so she’s staying at the hospital for observation tonight.”

Eve widened her eyes and looked at Ranita with an open mouth while gritting her teeth, “Whose child is it?”

The assistant looked confused as to why Eve asked Ranita that question.
