A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 298 Guilt Makes People Remember More

Brendon and Shannon grew up together, and there was still some affection between them.

“Shannon, I’m sorry!” Brendon sincerely apologized to Shannon. “If you need any help in the future, just let me know. I’ll do my best to help you!”

Shannon understood men. Guilt could make a deeper impression on them than crazy love.

“Brendon, no need to apologize to me! It’s partly my fault that things turned out this way because of my behavior.”

“Go back and explain it all to Ranita properly so that you won’t be unhappy because of me.”

Shannon spoke softly with a strong smile on her face, trying hard not to show her sadness.

Brendon felt uneasy inside. “Shannon, rest well! I’ll stay with you.”Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“Okay! Thank you, Brendon!” Shannon smiled contentedly.

Halfway through their conversation, Brendon received a phone call and Amiya asked, “Shannon, how can you agree not to have children with Brendon?”

“It’s better for us if this child can make Brendon divorce Ranita as soon as possible!”

Softly holding Amiya’s hand in hers, Shannon said, “Auntie, I know that what you’re doing is for my own good but Brendon doesn’t want it. I don’t want him forced into anything he doesn’t want either.”

“Forget it; maybe we’re not meant for each other,” said Shannon using a tactic of retreat as an advance which worked perfectly well on Holly whose emotions were immediately triggered by her words, “You’re too kind-hearted indeed! My brother cannot treat you like this; abortion may harm your body badly. They say it may even affect fertility… ”

“Mom, please help Shannon,” Holly pouted at Amiya angrily. “I don’t want Ranita as my sister-in-law; she is like a chicken trying to become Phoenix. What dreams does she have?”

Amiya was furious when she heard Holly speak like that,”Holly is right about one thing though. Having or not having children is a big deal for girls nowadays. If something goes wrong during the operation and results in miscarriage or complications, then it will ruin your life forever! Besides this child belongs both to Brendon and you. It’s our grandchild after all, so how can we bear losing it?”

Seeing the tension rising around her eyesight made blurry by tears forming in them already, Shannon bit her lip hesitantly before saying, “Auntie, Holly… you guys seem very keen on my baby…but…Brendon isn’t interested…” She paused before continuing, “…I heard from my cousin once…that she saw Ranita going into an obstetrics clinic…I’m not sure if…”

Amiya interrupted immediately upon hearing these words, “Holly, go get some water for Shannon now!”

Holly refused to leave and was given a disapproving look by Amiya.

Once the door closed, Amiya asked, “Shannon, tell me what’s really going on?”

“I… I’m not entirely sure. Carlee said she saw Ranita going to the gynecologist for a check-up! So I guess… maybe she’s pregnant? Otherwise why would Brendon suddenly change his mind about divorcing her?”

“I’ll investigate this matter myself. Shannon, take care of yourself!” Amiya sneered. “Even if Ranita is pregnant, I won’t let her stay.”

“The baby in your belly now is our Stuart family’s.”

If it were before, Amiya might have considered keeping the child and getting rid of Ranita but things were different now that Shannon was pregnant.

Biting her lip, Shannon pretended to say, “Auntie, you can investigate all you want but don’t hurt Ranita! Even though Brendon isn’t divorcing her anymore, she’s still his wife and I’m afraid he’ll be angry if he finds out.”

Pausing for a moment with a meaningful look on her face, Shannon continued, “When they were getting divorced before, Steve and the Webster family’s second son got close with Ranita which caused many misunderstandings between Brendon and her.”

“They’ve had it tough too.”
