A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 285 Unity of Husband and Wife

Kora talked non-stop for a while, and Ranita was amazed to learn all the intricacies involved. “You’re amazing, Kora!” she exclaimed.

“What’s so amazing about it? Compared to Chris and his company, we’re just small fry! Doing charity work is great, but you can’t rely on donations every time. It’s better to make money with money,” Kora said as she nudged Chris.

Ranita knew about donations too; Stuart’s Corp donated a large sum of money every year. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Ranita, why don’t you join us? I’ll gather the girls tomorrow and we’ll talk in detail!” Kora enthusiastically shared with Ranita. “Don’t worry; they are all well-behaved ladies. You will definitely fit in!”

“Thank you, Kora!”

“You’re Chris’ friend; that makes you my friend too! Don’t be polite with me!” As Chris had to entertain guests, he left first while Kora chatted away with Ranita about everything under the sun. Ranita forgot her unpleasant feelings for a moment.

When the servant reminded them that the banquet was starting soon, Kora led Ranita back to the hall.

“Thank you all for coming to my father’s birthday banquet,” said Chris’ father as he spoke on stage. But Ranita wasn’t really listening; her attention was drawn towards Brendon instead.

Brendon sat upright, with Shannon on his left, sticking to him like a piece of taffy, gazing at him with a coy and sweet expression.

On his right side was Holly, who raised an eyebrow provocatively upon seeing Ranita approaching.

“Ranita, there’s no more seat available here. Go sit at the back!” Holly stepped forward, blocking Ranita’s path. Ranita glanced around and realized there were indeed no more seats.

However, the seat next to Brendon was originally meant for her.

Ranita glanced at Brendon, meeting his gaze, and approached him, saying, “There’s no seat available here. I’ll go sit at the back.”

Upon hearing this, Holly felt extremely pleased.

Ranita knew her place!

“Just a moment…” Brendon grasped her wrist, stood up, and said, “Ranita is my wife, and we are a couple. I’ll go sit elsewhere with her. You all can continue your conversation.”

Upon hearing this, Shannon immediately stood up, delicately tugging at Brendon’s sleeve. “Brendon… can’t you stay here? Can’t we all sit together? We can just add another chair for Ranita!”

Ranita smiled at Shannon, her eyes and brows icy. “Adding another chair would be too crowded. Otherwise, Miss Murphy, you can give up your seat?”

As if Shannon would give up her seat!

She intentionally occupied the seat next to Brendon, just to prevent Ranita from sitting there.

“Brother, can you believe what she just said? Is she audacious enough to ask Shannon to give up her seat and leave her alone…” Holly didn’t have a chance to finish her sentence before Brendon gave her a cold glance.

“Ranita is right. Adding another chair would be too cramped. Let me take her to another table.” Brendon took Ranita’s hand and led her through the crowd, arriving at Steve’s table.

Steve raised his eyebrows and leaned in close to Brendon’s ear. “Someone looks like they’re about to pop their eyes out. Are you sure you want to sit here?”

“It’s fine,” replied Brendon calmly as he handed Ranita a glass of warm water. “Drink some water.”

“Thank you,” said Ranita softly, feeling slightly relieved now that she wasn’t forced into sitting near Shannon again. Even though she had nothing against being around her, it was frustrating losing face in front of her.

Was this time going to be different? Was Brendon finally on her side?
