Chapter 150 Acting Cute
Brendon suddenly wanted to smoke.
He wasn’t addicted but when there were occasions where smoking seemed necessary he would have one or two cigarettes.
“She never told me about this.” Beforehand, Ranita had been extremely obedient; she acted like his virtuous wife who took care of everything including work which meant that he didn’t need to worry about anything else too much.
Maybe because she came too easily so she wasn’t valued enough by him?
“Miss Bowman seems quiet but actually quite strong-willed.” Pausing briefly, Caleb remembered something else, “Mr. Stuart, there’s something I’d like to report; those things you gave Miss Bowman before have been entrusted by her lawyer for sale…”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
In the divorce alimony, he didn’t provide much cash to Ranita; instead, he gave her real estate properties that can appreciate in value, along with some company stocks.
When converted, the total was worth several million, which was more than enough to ensure Ranita’s financial security for the rest of her life, so she won’t have to worry about her livelihood.
“All of them?”
“Yes! A few days ago I attended a dinner party where Isaac Carter from Electric Technology mentioned it. He said that previously he had coveted the Clifgough Island villa very much but finally someone put it up for sale so immediately bought it…” explained Caleb regarding his source of information.
“That real estate is still appreciating in value, it’s a shame to sell it now! Is Miss Bowman experiencing any financial difficulties?”
Does Ranita need money?
She probably doesn’t.
It’s said that beautiful women like to dress up, and Ranita was also a beauty, but she didn’t have a strong materialistic desire for external things. Her clothes were not cheap but not too expensive either. The same went for her bags and jewelry; she just mixed and matched the same few items.
Unlike Shannon, who had different designer brands in her closet every day of the year, with expensive jewelry, bags and shoes galore.
In comparison, Ranita was very frugal.
But she was not cheap; on the contrary, she had good taste. Even if the clothes she chose were not that expensive, they looked very elegant when worn.
“Those things belong to her once given to her; she can do whatever she wants with them!” After pausing for a moment Brendon asked, “Did you get any results from what I asked you to investigate?”
When this matter was mentioned, Caleb became speechless again.
“I just received it and will send it to you immediately.” Who would have thought that Brendon would ask him to investigate Ranita… especially about interpersonal relationships six years ago between men and women?
Caleb received the report but resisted his gossiping heart from opening it up right away.
“Mr. Stuart do you have any other orders?”
“You’re free right now so go check if Shannon needs anything at Boulderland Mansion… there’s nothing else.”
After hanging up the phone, Brendon looked at Ranita through the glass. This woman was indeed quite strong-willed with ideas but kept everything inside of herself.
Her heart… was still very hard.
“Ding Dong!”
Just then his phone rang twice indicating he had new mail coming in.
It was Caleb sending over an investigation report on Ranita’s interpersonal relationships six years ago.
Brendon hesitated for a few seconds before opening up the email.
Brendon stayed on the balcony for a while and then returned inside.
Ranita hadn’t slept well, flipping through a few pages of documents. Her eyelids were in a battle, making her head bob like a chick pecking at grain. Suddenly, a broad hand gripped the back of her neck. The skin was gently pinched, almost like it had caught her soft heart. Ranita instantly became wide awake.
“You… let go!” Ranita glanced at him from the corner of her eye, her pupils filled with tired confusion. Her slightly arched body looked like a cat whose nape had been gently grasped. Brendon leaned closer, his palm still in place, gently applying pressure.
“If you’re tired, go sleep on the bed.”
“I’m not tired! Let go… If you don’t let go, I’ll hit you!” The woman gritted her teeth and grumbled, though it didn’t sound like a threat, more like a playful complaint.
