A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 149 Testing

“Brendon, you’re the one being stubborn! You can’t spend your whole day here when you’re such a big boss!” Ranita knew how busy Brendon was.

“Ranita…” Brendon frowned, feeling a bit helpless.

Brendon knew that Ranita was stubborn but he didn’t expect her to be this obstinate. Now she wasn’t even listening to him anymore.

Seeing the man’s dark expression, Ranita softened her tone and said, “I just want to rest here for two days and then I’ll go back.”

“As for my wound, as long as I apply the medicine on time it’ll be fine.”

Brendon remained silent for a while before changing his mind and saying, “Then I’ll stay here with you for two days too. Recently I’ve been pretty tired so this is also an opportunity for me to rest.”

Ranita’s mood was complicated. “Suit yourself!” she replied curtly.

She busied herself with her work but soon noticed that Brendon kept looking at her.

“No…” Brendon’s thin lips were long and his voice low.

Putting down her pen, Ranita leaned against the table and asked him sideways, “Then why are you looking at me? If you have nothing else to do then go take a nap.”

Brendon leaned back on the sofa while observing Ranita who wore simple casual clothes with loose hair tied behind in an easygoing manner; Her facial features looked pale yet intellectual which gave off some lazy charm.

When working, she dressed professionally more often than not.

At home however she would wear comfortable clothes without any frills or fancies; She wouldn’t dress up like Shannon who always looked ethereal or seductive in whatever outfit she wore. She liked things clean like a fluffy white cloud; Soft and comfortable.

“Don’t look at me like that!” The heat rose in Ranitas neck from being stared at by him again.

Bringing up old issues he asked, “Do you not like Shannon living in Boulderland Mansion?”

Ranita’s throat went dry before answering tentatively, “If I say that I don’t like it, will you ask Shannon to move out?”

Having played quail-like games all these years, Ranita’s heart couldn’t let go of it completely yet. If Brendon agreed, she would consider taking another step forward…

“Why?” He countered instead, pushing aside what had been brought up earlier. Ranita felt somewhat uneasy. It took quite some time before finally gathering enough courage, “If you really stay here for two days, I’ll tell you why.”

Brendon’s thoughts drifted away just as his phone rang abruptly.

He went to the balcony to answer the phone, tapping his fingers on the railing as he spoke in a low voice, “Caleb, you’ll attend this afternoon’s meeting for me. And cancel or postpone all my appointments until tomorrow.”

“Mr. Stuart, is Miss Bowman not coming back?” Caleb found Ranita’s location and knew that Brendon was probably on the Moon Mountain.

“She wants to stay here for a couple of days.” Brendon paused and glanced at Ranita who was quietly working at her desk before turning back to Caleb. “Caleb, do you think Shannon is not suitable to live in Boulderland Mansion?”

Caleb was startled.

Why would he ask such an explosive question?! He was just a small assistant!

“Well… Mr. Stuart, has something happened?” Caleb cleared his throat and asked carefully.

Actually, Caleb had never thought that Brendon would answer him but unfortunately he did, “Yesterday Shannon and Holly had an unpleasant incident with Ranita. She doesn’t want Shannon living in Boulderland Mansion.”

“Hehe… it’s understandable! After all, you and Miss Bowman are still considered husband and wife while she is so clingy. I think Miss Bowman should also mind it.”

Does Ranita really care?
