Chapter 323
Chapter 323
"I'm Cullen's adjutant."
Xavier had already recognized it.
"Is miss by your side? Are you free to talk now?"
Xavier glanced at Arya in his arms. It was obvious that the adjutant didn't want Arya to hear their
conversation. Xavier then pinned Arya's forehead hair behind her ear, "I'll take a call."
Arya didn't think too much about it and thought it was business.
Xavier walked out of the office and said to the phone, "Tell me what's the matter."
"The old chief is in the hospital now. His condition is not very good, but he doesn't want miss to get
worried..."
Cullen was sick?
Xavier nodded slightly.
"The doctor said that the operation can be done, but it needs the signature of immediate family
members, so miss will definitely know. So the old chief is very resistant to the operation, and even
unwilling to receive the operation. I have no choice, so I can only turn to you."
Xavier asked which hospital it was.
"The affiliated hospital of the second military region of W City..."
"I see." Xavier hung up.
Cullen was sick, which was not a good thing for Xavier. Arya was about to give birth and it would
definitely affect her mood if she knew this.
Cullen must have thought about it too, so he didn't let her know.
"Who is it?" Arya stood at the door and looked at the man who was lost in thought at the end of the
corridor.
"My employee." Xavier put his phone in his pocket and walked over to put his arm around Arya's
shoulders, "I'll take you back."
Arya turned to look at him, "Aren't you coming?"
Xavier didn't look at her and pretended to be calm. "I still have something to do."
Arya nodded and did not continue to ask.
Xavier grabbed her hand and walked into the elevator. He then pressed the button of the elevator to the
first floor. After a few minutes, they arrived at the lobby. The door of the elevator was slowly slid open.
Arya followed Xavier as he was about to get out of the elevator. They bumped into Orlando, who was
getting into the elevator.
Arya didn't manage things in the company anymore. Orlando was in charge of a lot of things, and when
it came to something he couldn't decide, Xavier would take it over.
Orlando's eyes lit up when he saw Arya, "I haven't seen you for a while."
As he spoke, his eyes fell on her abdomen.
Arya smiled and said, "Yeah." Since Xavier came back, she had never asked anything.
Seeing the document in Orlando's hand, she asked, "Is it about work?"
Orlando shrugged his shoulders and waved the document in front of Arya, "You have dumped the work
away, so I have to do more work..."
Orlando smiled. It was just a joke.
Arya naturally knew that it was joking. She had known Orlando for a long time. She looked at Xavier
and said, "I'm leaving now to set the stage for you two to have a word. Ask the driver to send me back."
Arya thought Xavier wanted to talk to Orlando for work, so she decided to leave first.
Xavier walked down with her in his arms, "There is no need."
Arya felt this would be improper, so her lips curled up slightly. "I'm an adult. Can't I take care of
myself?" Her smile was very gentle and warm.
As she spoke, she looked at Orlando and smiled, "I know you're tired. I'll treat you to dinner when I'm
available."
Orlando looked at Arya for a long time. She had changed now.
Her whole body was emitting a soft radiance, especially when she smiled. The corners of her eyes and
brows all looked radiant. It could be seen that she was living a good life now.
"What are you looking at?" Xavier's cold voice pulled Orlando back from a daze.
Orlando regained his senses and coughed lightly to cover up his rudeness.
Xavier glanced at him again and walked back to the elevator.
Orlando followed in with the document.
There was a moment of silence in the elevator.
Orlando looked at the bright elevator wall and said leisurely, "She has changed."
Xavier pursed his lips as if he was unhappy with Orlando's evaluation of Arya. Did Orlando know her
well?
Orlando didn't care if Xavier was angry or not. He said to himself, "The first time I saw her was at the
shareholders meeting of the K&T Inc. She spoke with such sharpness that she didn't even care about
her own father. She gave people the impression of being heartless, cold, and inhumane. But after
getting along with her, it can be found that all this is because she has been hurt badly before... Now
she's changed, and she makes people feel warm rather than cold."
Orlando said this with sincerity from the bottom of his heart.
Xavier's eyes sank.
The corners of his lips curved at the thought of all the things he had done with her before.
Yes, she had become more feminine.
In the past, she liked to pretend and always hid her emotions.
Outside the building, when Arya was about to get into the car, she saw Jacob get off a taxi across the
road, followed by Janet. Arya stopped and wondered whether that woman was the one in the photo.
The woman who was almost married to Jasper?
Arya closed the door and didn't get in the car.
The driver asked in confusion, "Madam, aren't you leaving now?"
Arya said, "Yes, please wait for a while."
Jacob stood by the roadside and spoke to Janet.
"I'll think of a way to help you with your work." Jacob didn't mean anything else. He was also born in a
poor family. Seeing a girl like her in such a difficult situation, he wanted to do his best to help her.
She had no job now, and her money was wasted by Grover. It was hard to repay the debt.
"Thank you so much..." As she spoke, Janet inadvertently saw Arya standing in front of the building
across the road, and Arya was also looking at this side. Their eyes met...
Jacob felt Janet's strange gaze and turned around to see Arya.
Jacob hesitated for a moment and said, "Come with me."
If he really persuaded Xavier to let Janet work in the company, Arya would see her sooner or later.
Janet nodded.
Walking across the street, Jacob didn't know how to speak for a moment. It was Arya who spoke first,
"Did you just come back from outside?"
Jacob's eyes twitched. It was Xavier who left him outside.
But he couldn't say that. He smiled, "I went out to do something."
Arya didn't care what he was going out for, and she was just looking for a topic to chat about. She then
stared at Janet. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Jacob didn't know how much Arya knew, "Are you going back now, should I send you..."
"No need." Arya interrupted him and looked at Janet. "There's a coffee shop not far away. Shall we go
and sit down?"
Janet pursed her lips and looked at Arya, "Okay."
Arya raised her eyebrows and looked back at him, "Well, does Jacob want to join us?"
"No."
"Then what's that?"
Jacob was stunned and scratched his head. He did not know what to say.
Arya knew what Jacob was afraid of, and she couldn't help smiling bitterly, "He knows."
Then she walked towards the coffee shop not far away...
