Chapter 1302
Chapter 1302
Pearl burst into laughter when Chester called her 'Miss.' He called Sean his father but addressed Pearl formally. He had a sweet tongue.
Chester thought Pearl looked young and pretty, so he thought it was fine to call her that. Ignoring Richard, who stood behind her, Chester rushed to hold Pearl's hand with a smile.
"Miss Pearl, you're really close to my dad, right? Come inside, and I'll make you a cup of tea."
Pearl found Chester's politeness and charm unexpectedly delightful, filling her with a warm, motherly affection. She patted his head and agreed. "Okay."
Chester didn't pay any attention to Richard, his actual father, who followed them inside with a frown
Chester served tea for Pearl, but not for Richard. Richard pointed at his empty cup and asked, "Why didn't you pour me some?"
Chester coolly replied, "Mister Richard, feel free to make some for yourself if you want some tea."
Pearl was puzzled by Chester's coldness toward Richard. "Chet, is there something wrong? Don't you like your Uncle Richard?"
Chester softened immediately upon Pearl's concern. "No, Miss Pearl. I don't see Mister Richard as an enemy. I just had enough tea for one cup, and I thought you should have it. I'm sure he doesn't mind."Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Richard took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. It was his son, after all.
Still puzzled by Chester's preference for her, Pearl asked, "Chet, why do you know me so well? I don't recall meeting you before."
"Do I need a reason to like someone?" Chester said, playfully nudging her hand, which made Pearl smile. "You're so sweet. I wish you were my son."
Hearing this, Chester's eyes lit up. "Miss Pearl, do you really mean that? Would you like to be my mom?"
Pearl, thinking it was just a child's wishful thinking, nodded heartily. "Yes, you're very sweet. I'd love to be your mom if I could."
Richard, who had been silent, suddenly felt uneasy. Chester's next words confirmed his fears.
"It's actually possible."
"Oh?" Pearl assumed Chester was hinting she could be his godmother. She was just about to offer that idea when Chester's reply left her astonished.
"Why don't you divorce Uncle Richard and marry my dad? Then you can really be my mom." Chester thought his idea was great. Since he was still young, he believed his suggestion was clever and thoughtful. Richard's face darkened, and he rejected the idea immediately before Pearl could respond.
