Chapter 1379 No One Would Dare Blame You
“I want to read it. If I don't finish it, it will always be on my mind. Hurry up, you can even have someone bring it here for me!”
Arissa blinked her eyes at him, acting coquettishly.
Benjamin sighed lightly. “Wait a moment!”
Seeing him turn around and leave, Arissa smiled and waited for the novel to be brought up. However, after waiting for more than ten minutes, there was still no sign of the novel or anyone else.
Feeling quite puzzled, she called Benjamin, only to find the line was busy.
Could it be that he was so busy answering his phone that he forgot?
She waited for a while before calling again. This time, the call went through. “Darling, are you forgetting something?” she asked.
“What do you mean?” he asked calmly and confidently. He had wondered if she would call to remind him.
“Didn't you say you were going to bring me the novel?” Arissa pouted, her voice raising slightly.
Benjamin stifled a laugh and smiled. “Beg me!”
Arissa was speechless.
Benjamin was doing it on purpose. Isn't he being childish?
“Then I'll go get it myself!” If she weren't being closely watched by him, she would have no problem walking around on her own.
“I'll bring it to you now!” Benjamin's voice deepened, no longer daring to tease her.
Looking at the disconnected call, Arissa chuckled to herself, wondering why he wasn't asking her to beg him anymore. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
In less than a minute, Benjamin had delivered the novel to Arissa, saying, “See, I brought it!”
Arissa looked at him. Seeing his helpless expression, she couldn't help but laugh. “Anyone who doesn't know better would think you're jealous of a book!”
Benjamin's brows arched slightly, and his sharp eyes narrowed. “Am I that kind of person?”
Arissa laughed and responded, “No, Mr. Graham is definitely not that childish!”
Benjamin's handsome face darkened. This woman was indirectly scolding him.
Seeing her smug little expression, he sighed lightly. “Just don't let it upset you. It's not good for your health!”
Arissa nodded and beckoned him over, signaling him to come closer.
Benjamin leaned in, and Arissa suddenly grabbed his collar, pulling him toward herself.
She gave him a loud smooch.
Unable to suppress the upward curve of his lips, Benjamin cupped the back of her head, pulling her into a deep kiss.
Had his phone not rung, he wouldn't have let go of Arissa.
Benjamin stepped aside, picking up the phone. Arissa patted her own cheeks, which were burning hot, her heart racing like it was about to jump out of her chest.
“What's the matter?” Benjamin asked.
Arissa was not sure what was said on the other end, but Benjamin's brows furrowed in response. “I'm busy. Turn it down!” There was a pause before he added, “Then let the vice CEO handle it!”
Benjamin's voice deepened a bit, and he hung up the phone.
Arissa looked at his face. Noticing his aversion, she asked with concern, “What's wrong?”
Benjamin glanced at her and responded, “The new mayor wants to meet for dinner!”
Arissa paused for a moment, then advised him, “You should go and meet the person. Otherwise, it might leave a bad impression and make things difficult for you in the future!”
The mayor had personally asked him out for a meal, so he still had to show respect.
“What kind of impression do I have to leave him?” Benjamin didn't care; his arrogant demeanor left one at a loss for words.
Arissa knew he was capable enough not to care about such things and asked, “Why won't you agree to have dinner with them?”
“I'm busy!” Benjamin repeated what he had said earlier.
Seeing that he didn't seem to be making up an excuse, Arissa smiled and said, “Aren't you at home? Don't you have time for a meal? It won't take long to meet anyway!”
“I have to keep an eye on you. I don't have time to meet anyone!” Benjamin lightly huffed, not in the mood for small talk.
Arissa was caught between laughter and tears. “If others find out it's because of me, won't they blame me? I really don't want to be the scapegoat!”
Benjamin glanced at her. “As long as I'm here, no one would dare to blame you!”
