Chapter 514
Chapter 514
In Amy and Noah's relationship, Noah had always thought of himself as superior even though he was the one persistently asking Amy out. He thought that she should be honored that he even chose her to be his girlfriend.
He believed that she would cling to their relationship. No matter how badly he treated her, she would never break up with him.
He was too confident.
While it would be nice to marry into a wealthy family, not everyone wanted to be the heir's wife.
An example would be Amy. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Compared to being the wife of a wealthy man, what she wanted more was a relationship based on mutual love and equality.
She did not want the kind of relationship she had with Noah.
When Noah was with her, he always thought he was better than her. He believed that he was so superior compared to her that she would never break up with him no matter what he did to her.
He was wrong.
She sneered and said, "Noah, do you think I'm only threatening to break up so that I can play hard to get? In your mind, I will cling onto you even if I have to sacrifice my life just because you're rich and I'm poor. A girl like me would never break up with a boyfriend like you, right?"
Noah impatiently scowled. "Amy, I'm really busy. Can we talk about this later?"
"No, we can't," Amy said coldly. "We don't have a future together anymore. I want to break up with you right now. It's not playing hard to get or a threat. It's a decision I've made after careful consideration. I, Amy Atkinson, want to break up with you!"
"Amy, stop causing a scene. You—"
"Are you deaf?" For the first time in their relationship, she interrupted him while he was speaking. "Am I not clear enough? I'm breaking up with you. You're cold-blooded, selfish, and full of yourself. You're not worthy of my time. I hate you! From now on, I never want to see you again! Stay far away from me and never appear in front of me again!"
She then angrily hung up on him.
A promising young elite of society?
He could not even understand her. What an elite!
Amy angrily threw her newly bought phone onto the bed.
She knew deep down in her heart that Noah understood what she meant, but he refused to believe her.
He refused to believe that she would break up with him.
To put it bluntly, Noah looked down on her as he thought she was a lapdog. Regardless of how he treated her, she would cling to him.
He thought too highly of himself.
Amy would rather remain a spinster for the rest of her life than marry Noah.
She had never hated someone so much before.
She had not wanted to date him in the first place. It was Noah who disturbed her peaceful life. He gave her hope, and now he disappointed her.
If not for his persistent pursuit, she would not be in so much agony right now.
Yes, she was not feeling as calm and carefree as she seemed. She was in pain.
While she liked Noah, her rationality and dignity convinced her that she had to break up with him.
She did not want to be seen as a gold-digger.
She wanted a relationship based on equality and mutual love, even if it meant the relationship would be plain and ordinary. It would be better than the kind of relationship she had with Noah where even the tiniest bit of love was seen as doing her a favor.
Noah viewed himself as the superior while she stood humbly at the foot of his throne, forever having to look up at him and run to keep up with his pace.
That was not the kind of relationship and marriage she wanted.
It did not matter how amazing he was.
She did not want him. She just did not!
She desperately tried to convince herself of that.
The rational side of her said she had to follow her heart and make the right choice. Her emotions were too overwhelming. They tore her apart, making her suffer as if she were being tortured.
In her mind, she repeatedly told herself, I hate Noah. I hate Noah. The person I hate the most in my life is Noah. I will never forgive him!
Unable to suppress her emotions, she resorted to punching the bed repeatedly to vent her anger and resentment.
Her phone abruptly rang.
It might be a call from her brother or her mother, so she made herself take a few deep breaths to calm her emotions before reaching for her phone.
It was an unknown number.
She answered the phone and held it up to her ear.
"Hello, are you Amy Atkinson?" A cold and disdainful voice haughtily demanded from the other end of the phone.
"Yes, I'm Amy." Amy frowned and asked, "Who is this?"
"I am Noah's mother." Anika Levine ended her statement with a pause.
She held the silence while waiting for Amy's enthusiastic greeting.
Eventually, Amy blandly responded, "I see. Do you need anything from me?"
Anika froze. "Did you not hear me? I'm Noah's mother!"
Amy clearly did not hear her; otherwise, why else would Amy respond like that?
Amy should have warmly returned Anika's greetings before chattering nonstop with caring words and flattery.
"Yes, I heard you," Amy stated indifferently. "You are Noah's mother. So what? Do you have something to tell me?"
She had not wanted to date him in the first place. It was Noah who disturbed her peaceful life. He gave her hope, and now he disappointed her.
Anika's hand tightened around her phone as her face filled with icy rage.
Amy did not even bother to properly greet her!
There was no doubt that Amy was a poor girl from some random family, so where were her manners?
"I have something to discuss with you. Let's meet up," Anika declared coldly.
"I sprained my ankle and can't go out. Can we talk about it on the phone?" Amy shot back.
"No," Anika said in an insistent tone. "West Mountain Cafe on Melville Road, one hour from now. I'll be waiting for you there."
She immediately ended the call without waiting for Amy's reply.
Amy stood there with the phone in her hand as the urge to claw Anika's face off.
Noah and Anika really were mother and son since both of them were just that bad with listening comprehension.
She looked at a box on her bed.
It was something she had packed up to be returned to Noah.
There was not much inside, just a necklace and a bracelet. These were the only two gifts Noah had given her during the six or so months they had been dating.
She had been wearing them the entire time. After she decided to break up with Noah, she took them off and put them in this box so that they could be returned to him.
However, she did not want to see him anymore.
Anika wanted to meet with her, so she would meet Anika and give the box to Anika for her to pass to Noah.
That would be fine too.
She really did not want to see Noah at all.
She was afraid that she would lose control of herself and end up stabbing Noah.
While her personality was more like her mother's, she was currently being pushed into a corner by Noah, indicating that her personality now resembled her father's.
That was why one should never push too hard and too far. Just like the many women who were constantly abused by their families and their husbands until they fought back and kill their husbands with a stab after being pushed to the brink.
Amy felt like a woman who was being abused by her family and about to be driven to the brink by Noah.
If he pushed her too hard, who knew what she would do?
She took a few deep breaths and suppressed the frustration and fury surging up inside her.
She did not want to become like her father.
It was okay.
She would proceed to calmly handle this matter. After her breakup with Noah was done, she would be able to return to the old peaceful life she had before she met Noah.
