Chapter 539
Chapter 539
Marvin's grave was not far away.
It was a particularly windy day. When Lucille and Franklin arrived, the cemetery was cold, eerie, and
empty. Not a single soul could be seen.
He walked with her and they went all the way to Marvin's grave.
Lucille stood there and stared at the tombstone. Her eyes got wet immediately.
The cemetery in the south of the city was a public cemetery, and all the tombstones there had to be
bought from a company. There were five different price tags, and each price had distinct tombstones.
Generally speaking, normal families would buy third grade tombs. Hence, most of the tombstones that
Lucille saw were the same.
However, when she reached Marvin's tombstone, she saw that it was just a thin and small tombstone
that was not obvious at all. She was furious!
In all her years in the art academy, the Jules Group made use of the money they borrowed with her
name a few years back. They received a handful of good projects and rapidly expanded. Even if
Marvin's wealth couldn't be handed over to Alma at once, the money she had was more than enough
for a better tombstone than this insignificant one!
"She's gone too far..."
Lucille stood in front of the tombstone, and even her shoulders were shaking with anger.
"I will find someone to change it for you in a few days." Franklin had no feelings for Marvin, but he felt
uncomfortable seeing Lucille like this.
She nodded. She went to the tombstone, slowly knelt, and raised the bouquet she brought. "Dad, I'm
sorry, I could not see you in your final moments. Dad, this is all my fault. I should not have estranged
myself from you in a fit of anger, but Master Zane and I are really innocent. He is only my master, and I
am his apprentice. He knew that I did not have a place to live, so he took me in. Soon, I bought a
house and moved out too..."
Lucille's mind was a little confused, and she could only speak the words in her mind. She wanted to tell
Marvin what he needed to hear. She said every word clearly, bit by bit, hoping that he could hear all of
it.
Franklin waited by the side until she finished speaking.
They were about to leave when she was done talking. Suddenly, someone from behind them ran over
and shouted, "So it's true that they are here! Hurry, take some photos!"
As that person shouted, flashes and cameras clicking were heard.
Lucille and Franklin turned around. They knew that the media was there.
Lucille's mind was a little blank. She was greatly pressured by the previous events and wanted to run.
However, Franklin stood in front of her and asked the two paparazzi, "She is here to visit her father.
What's there to take photos about?"
"Visit her father? Someone like her never even accompanied the old man when he was alive, yet she is
putting on an act now that he's dead. Who is she trying to show it to?"
The male reporter who was holding the camera continued to take photos.
"Stop taking photos! What you see is real. You are a reporter. How much of the news on the Internet is
fake, and how much of it has been twisted to fit your perspective? Aren't you the clearest about it?"
Franklin raised his hand to block his camera. The two of them must have been a team, and they must
have just been trying their luck at Marvin's cemetery.
"Well, there is even a recording of that. Do you think that audio recordings can be faked? If so, why
won't you say it?" The reporter said so.
"We don't have any evidence. What are we supposed to say? Should I record everything I say as
well?"
Lucille could not help but refute.
She really couldn't do anything about this. She could not even speak out her grievances.
"Evidence? You never even said anything. Now, all the evidence says that you are that kind of person.
What else do you have to say?" The reporter refused to back down.
"The other party has obviously prepared beforehand. They are handling the direction of this matter.
What exactly happened? You people from the media should be clearest about it. She is the victim. How
could you treat a victim like this, and what are you going to write this time? Alma pretended to be on
good terms with Marvin, yet she bought him the cheapest tombstone!"
Franklin was rational. He could provide the most persuasive evidence.
The reporters had been there several times, so they had known what kind of tombstone Marvin had.
They looked up once more, and the two of them were speechless for a moment.
"Alright, we will leave now. You'd better take photos of the tombstones and write a notice. In a few
days, we will find evidence and overthrow everything Alma had said and done."
After Franklin finished speaking, he pulled Lucille to their car.
The two reporters looked at each other. In the end, they still decided to follow his orders. They took
photos of the tombstone as it was best to take extra precautions.
After getting in the car, Lucille glanced at him gratefully and said, "Thank you..."
"You're welcome."
Just as he started the car, Lucille said, "About that... I want to go back to the Jules family home." Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
"Why would you go there?"
"There are some things that are important to me at home. Back when Marvin was still there, I still
thought of it as my home. But now, after he passed away, it is not my home anymore. I want to take
back the things that belong to me."
Lucille explained.
From a certain point of view, she was now homeless.
"Alright then."
After saying that, Franklin turned the car around and headed directly to the Jules family home.
There was still some distance from the cemetery to her family home. When they arrived, it was already
in the evening.
When Lucille was at the door, she was a little nervous. Just as she was hesitating, Franklin directly
pressed the doorbell and said, "You are coming back home. Why are you hesitating?"
Very soon, a servant opened the door.
Lucille recognized her. She was a servant whom the Jules family had recruited a few years back,
Jessie.
She was a little surprised to see Lucille, but she still respectfully greeted, "Miss Lucille."
"I am here to take some things."
When Lucille heard Jessie calling her Miss Lucille, all sorts of emotions welled up in her heart.
"Okay."
Jessie was not wary of her at all, so she allowed her to come in.
Lucille turned to Franklin, "Wait for me in the car. I'll come out after taking my things."
He returned to his car.
When Lucille entered her room, she realized that the living room was empty. It seemed that Alma and
Natasha were not there.
She went upstairs immediately. When she opened the door, she was immediately stunned. The room
that was once hers was now cluttered with random objects, much like a storage room.
Jessie came over and explained with embarrassment, "Madam and Miss Natasha left some useless
things in your room after the accident."
"Oh."
As Lucille spoke, she went to the bedside and pulled out the box under the bed. She was relieved.
Fortunately, although Alma and Natasha piled up useless things in her room, her personal belongings
were untouched.
However, there was not a single thing left in this house that belonged to her apart from the things under
her bed.
"Miss Lucille, will you not come back here ever again?"
Jessie watched her packed up her things, and she seemed sad.
"Dad passed away. Now, this is not my home anymore."
When Lucille said this, she lowered her eyelashes, and she recalled the beautiful memories she had in
this home. But now, all of it had turned to bubbles.
She walked down with the small box in her arms. As soon as she reached the stairs, she saw Natasha
standing at the door. She was still wearing a pink mink coat, and it seemed like she had just entered.
When they met, Natasha was stunned for a moment. She immediately asked with an unpleasant face,
"Lucille, how do you still have the guts to come home?"
Now, she would not even bother to pretend.
