Chapter 111
Chapter 111
"Where did you hear this nonsense?"
Skylar frowned and hugged Coralie tightly in his embrace.
The two of them were standing in the corridor so they could still hear each other. But as the sound of
the firecrackers outside was getting louder, Coralie decided to invite Skylar into the house.
Both of them went upstairs.
Coralie poured a glass of hot water for Skylar and asked, "Tonight you..."
Coralie thought that Skylar would stay here for the night.
"I'll leave in a while. I just thought that I haven't seen you for a long time, so I came to see you. If you
are already sleeping, I wouldn't have come up. I didn't expect to meet you at the door."
Skylar answered.
"Did you come here just to see me?"
"Can't I?"
Skylar looked at Coralie's slightly surprised expression and asked her.
Coralie was suddenly at loss for words. He came all the way here in the middle of the night just to see
her. There could also be a chance that he might not get to see her... Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
"I just feel that it's too much effort for you to do this."
Coralie lowered her eyelashes and sat on the sofa, not knowing what to do.
Skylar stayed for a while and shared about what he had done the past few days. About an hour later,
Coralie heard some noises from the door and rose to her feet to take a look.
She saw Wayne squatting at the door and playing with his mobile phone...
"Why don't you come in?" Coralie asked.
"Er..." Wayne looked at his sister and saw that she was in her pajamas, her hair neatly tied up. He said
embarrassingly, "I thought you were... I was afraid of disturbing you..."
Coralie's face flushed red in an instant. "What are you thinking? Come in quickly."
As she spoke, she opened the door.
As soon as Wayne entered the room, he saw Skylar sitting on the sofa. He greeted Skylar and said,
"Skylar."
Wayne spoke to Skylar in a respectful tone, as he truly accepted Skylar as his brother-in-law. Next to
them, Coralie asked, "How long have you been outside?"
"Just for a while."
Wayne didn't want to be a third wheel so he hung his coat on the hanger and hurried into his room.
However, Wayne's bedroom was set up temporarily, so it wasn't that soundproof in his room.
Skylar glanced at his watch and it was past one o'clock. He got up and said, "I'll go first. I'm going
abroad with my grandma tomorrow. I'll come back in a few days and spend time with you then."
"Okay, be careful on the road."
Only then did Coralie know the reason behind Skylar's unexpected visit. It turned out that he wouldn't
be around for a few days.
......
For Coralie's family, New Year's Day was no different from usual. None of the relatives came to visit but
she did receive some text messages from her friends.
As an heir to a wealthy family, Xenia naturally went abroad for vacation. She sent Coralie a text
message, greeted her Happy New Year, and promised to bring her a souvenir.
Josephine also sent a message to Coralie with a seemingly harmonious photo of the family attached
together.
Coralie replied to them one by one.
A few days later, at their usually quiet house, the door bell suddenly rang.
Coralie was reading a book. When she heard the doorbell, she asked Wayne, "Did you order
something?"
"No."
As Wayne spoke, he got up. But before he opened the door, he heard a few women's voices from
outside the door, "Hera, it's me, your sister."
Coralie's expression turned sour immediately.
Needless to say, the people outside the door must be her two weird aunts. Every few years, they would
come to visit and annoy her with their unsought presence.
Wayne stood at the door and did not open the door. He whispered to Coralie, "Should I open the door?"
"Shh, let's pretend to not be home. Don't open it."
Coralie shook her hand.
She was a little puzzled. They have just moved here, why did her two aunts come to visit?
The two aunts shouted Hera's name from outside the door.
Hera was cooking in the kitchen. When she came out, she heard someone knocking on the door, so he
scolded Coralie and Wayne, "What's wrong with you? There's someone at the door, why didn't you
open the door?"
At this time, the two aunts outside heard the voice and said, "Hera, we are here."
Hearing that her two sisters' were here, Hera's expression also took a downturn. Hera had to open the
door now since they had heard her voice. They couldn't pretend to not be at home.
As soon as the door was opened, Hera's two older sisters stood at the door dressed in dramatic fur
coats. One was wearing black, and the other was donning a brown one.
The oldest sister, Abigail, was a little chubby. As for the second sister, Vera, she was thin but short.
Dressed in their striking fur coats, they looked bloated and disproportionate.
Coralie sat on the sofa and remained unmoved when she saw the two aunts coming in. She smiled and
said, "Hello Aunties, your clothes are very expensive, aren't they?"
After so many years, she had had the firsthand experience facing the personalities of her two aunts.
They were just here to show off and blow their own trumpets.
When the eldest aunt, Abigail heard Coralie's words, she smiled happily. "It's not that expensive, it only
costs me a five figures."
The second aunt, Vera scanned across the house and noticed the small, separated room. In an instant,
she flashed a look of disdain. "Oh, sister, what's wrong with you? You have not only lost your house of
so many years but are also renting a place now."
Hera didn't say a word. She brought two cups of water from the kitchen and put it on the tea table.
"Abigail, Vera, have some water."
After that, she leaned against the sliding door next to the kitchen and did not sit down.
Coralie's two aunts were sitting on the sofa with their legs crossed. They pointed at the house and
poked fun at it, "Hey, why did you rent such a place? The interior is too plain."
"Yeah, why is the sofa so wobbly? Is it worn out?"
"What era is it? Why do you have such a small TV in your home? If I had known earlier, I would have
brought the one that I've thrown away. It's much bigger than this one."
The two of them nagged about everything in the house, picking at one after another.
Coralie sat there trying to suppress her anger. "Our house is so small that we can't accommodate the
both of you. When you're done looking around, please head out the door. We are quite busy."
If it weren't for the fact that they were relatives, Coralie would have called the police.
When Abigail heard that Coralie was obviously driving her away, she was a little unhappy. Although
they were here to show off, they still came to see their younger sister during the new year, didn't they?
She looked at Coralie, who was wearing a thick coat and appeared as if she was bloated. Without
looking carefully, she thought that she had put on a lot of weight, so she said proudly, "Oh, Coralie, why
are you so fat now? Among all of our children, you looked the prettiest. I didn't expect you to be so
lenient with your own figure."
When Coralie saw that the dagger was now being directed at her, she sat still on the sofa, her posture
calm and composed as she held her chin with her arm. She stared at Abigail and retorted, "Well, no
matter how fat I am, I'll always come in second to you."
Originally, she thought that Abigail would be furious when she sneered at her, but she wasn't. Looking
at Coralie, Abigail seemed to have a trick up her sleeves and said, "Coralie, I've heard about it. You're
divorced, aren't you?"
