Chapter 308
Chapter 308
Isaac had a plan. They would spend the night somewhere else instead of the villa so the kids couldn't disturb them.
Patricia nodded. She would turn her phone off as well so the boys couldn't tell her to come home soon. Oh, I'm so naughty. However, this was the most significant change she had undergone over these years. She wanted to go crazy for once. To live for herself just this once.
Two hours later, they found themselves at the lakeside of a mountain. It was a famous tourist spot in Appleby. On weekends, it'd be packed. There was a big lake in the hills, and beautiful pavement surrounded it. There was also a village here that housed a lot of hotels in it.
It was about 10.00PM when they arrived, but there were still a lot of people strolling about. Some were even lighting up fireworks.
Patricia leaned on his chest, staring at the moon outside and the couples strolling about. A big smile hung on her lips. No longer did she have to envy the couples. She had her boyfriend now—someone who only belonged to her. "We should get out now." The town was in sight. She knew they'd be spending the night here.
Isaac nodded and said, "Tom, check us in for the night. We'll walk the whole way."
The driver turned around and responded, "Yes, sir."
They got out of the car and held hands. Oh, tomorrow's the company's annual dinner. The Christmas holidays start after tomorrow. We can just stay here for the night and depart for dinner tomorrow directly from here. So, there's no need to wake up early.
Isaac took his jacket off and draped it over Patricia. She looked at him. "I'm not cold. You should wear this." Winds were howling around the lake, the air of winter making them chilly. She was worried the weather might freeze him.
However, the man just shrugged it off. "Don't worry about me. I was trained to endure harsh and cold weather when I was a kid. I can go naked and still take the cold."
She stared at him. His face was shimmering under the light, his eyes gleaming like stars. He was a handsome man, and she loved staring at him. Now, she understood why the other ladies would be rooted to the spot every time they saw him. Even Sylvie would be stunned every time she saw him. Patricia smiled. "Wow, you're awesome."
A group of people gathered ahead of them, their cheers piquing her curiosity. She grabbed Isaac's hand and trotted all the way there.
Candles formed the shape of a heart on the ground. A beautiful woman stood within, a bouquet in her hands. A man was kneeling on one knee, holding up a ring.
"No matter what happens, I'll always stay with you. I'll always love you. We'll raise a family. Get two kids: a boy and a girl. And then, we'll grow old together, but I won't ever let go of you. I love you, Queenie. Would you marry me?"
Everyone cheered them on, and Patricia teared up as well. Love can be touching. She held Isaac'sBelongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
hand and stared at him. He was inscrutable, but she knew he felt the same way as she was. He, too, was moved, and he was praying for the couple, too.
And then, he turned around and stared into her eyes.
Their gazes met, and it felt like everything around them had disappeared. Only the two of them were left.
Solemnly, he whispered, "You'll be with me forever, won't you?"
