Chapter 968 Chasing Me
Luna moved her fingers, lightly brushing against his cheek.
Orion chuckled, his eyes squinting.
“What are you laughing at?” Luna asked.
Orion didn’t know what he was laughing at either. It seemed like a spontaneous act from the heart, just being expressed on his face involuntarily.
Their gazes met, and they just looked at each other like that.
Silence spoke volumes, more than a thousand words could.
Even just looking at each other like this, Orion felt happy.
A cry from the stars suddenly came.
Luna immediately got up, but Orion held her back. “You sleep.”
He pressed Luna back to bed, covering her with a blanket. “I’ll go and hold her.”
Luna said, “I should get up too.”
“It’s okay to get up, just sleep a little longer,” Orion covered her with a blanket. “Be good.”
Luna sighed, smiling helplessly.
Perhaps, she never thought she could still be with Orion like this.
Such a peaceful and stable life.
It felt like a dream.
She turned over, watching Orion leave.
As the door closed, she touched her face.
Thinking of unpleasant things, her mood momentarily faltered, but she quickly adjusted.
She would live well from now on, starting anew.
Trying to forget all the unpleasant things from before.
…
Verda burst into Alf Hicks’s bedroom, grabbing the blanket off the bed.
Alf Hicks woke up.
“Who…?”
Before he could curse, he saw it was Verda. He sat up, glancing at the time. “What time is it? Why are you up so early?”
“I just wanted to ask for your phone number. You didn’t give it, didn’t answer my calls, what are you trying to say?” Verda was dressed in a black Chanel dress today, wearing Valentino high heels, a delicate necklace, her hair elegantly styled.
She was proud.
Arms crossed.
Though she looked assertive, it did not make people dislike her.
A pampered and willful personality developed since childhood.
A tantrum-throwing young lady.
Alf Hicks rubbed his temples. “Hey, at least give me the blanket first.”
He rubbed his arms. “You’re a woman, have some personal space, okay?”
Verda looked him up and down. “You don’t have a V-line, no muscles, no six-pack abs. What makes you think I want to look at you?”
Alf Hicks looked down at his bare upper body, his skin fair, his physique well-cared for. How could he have a V-line or six-pack abs?
“And you’re wearing red briefs, so flashy.” Verda glanced over, uninterested.
Alf Hicks got out of bed carelessly. “What do you want? You itching for a fight with Xander?”
Verda raised an eyebrow. “You withhold my number just because you’re afraid I’ll bully him?”
Alf Hicks said, “You’re like an ancient ancestor. Who would dare provoke you? You pick a quarrel with him, won’t he suffer? I meant well by not accepting you, can’t let you bully him, right?”
Verda walked over, her high heels clacking. She hooked her finger on his red briefs. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll…”
“D*mn it.”
Alf Hicks was startled, hastily pressing down his red briefs.
“Hey, Verda, are you still a woman? I’m a man, have some boundaries, okay?”
“I know you’re a man, not treating you like a woman.” Verda looked at him speechlessly. “What’s with the big fuss? Aren’t all men the same? I don’t even bother to look when I see them.”
Alf Hicks, “…”
Oh Heavens, oh Earth, who will take this monster away.
It’s just too torturous.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
“I’ll go get your number.” Alf Hicks went to get his phone.
“I don’t want it.” Verda didn’t want Alf Hicks to know she was interested in Xander.
With her pride, how could she admit to being interested in a man?
She said, “I’m leaving.”
And left in a carefree manner.
That’s just how she is.
Alf Hicks was already used to it.
He sighed, thinking, what kind of man in the future could take this woman in?
At least let her wreak havoc on one person, not everyone.
…
At the hotel.
Kai and Morton wanted to sleep with Freya, leaving Elijah squeezed at the edge, far away from Freya, with two children in between.
Kai wasn’t a peaceful sleeper, either his leg on him or his head on his face, waking him up several times throughout the night.
So he got up early.
When Freya woke up, she saw Elijah standing by the window in pajamas.
She quietly got up and walked behind him, her hand around his waist, embracing him from behind. “What are you thinking?”
Elijah turned his head.
Freya looked up, smiling at him. “Didn’t sleep well?”
She asked because she knew Kai’s sleep habits.
He always liked to move around in his sleep.
Elijah ran his fingers through her hair. “Are you hungry?”
Freya shook her head, not at all hungry since just waking up.
She tiptoed, lightly kissing his lips. “I’ll go freshen up.”
Elijah held her back, pulling her waist and leaning in, their bodies tightly pressed together.
He leaned in for a kiss, but Freya turned her head away, her hands against his chest. “I haven’t freshened up yet.”
“The kids are still here, it’s not right for them to see.”
Elijah rubbed his face with his hand.
If it weren’t for being in a hotel, and the two kids there, how could he let her go?
At this moment, he could only watch her tease him and then run away.
And he could do nothing about it.
…
They had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and after eating, Elijah and Freya took the kids out to play.
Evan and Sacha were still lazing in the hotel, probably sleeping late last night.
Xander had drunk quite a bit last night and woke up late.
But he was alone.
Sitting alone and lonely at breakfast, with no one to keep him company.
He didn’t want to disturb Evan, especially with Sacha pregnant.
And he didn’t dare find Elijah.
He was their boss.
They were a family of four, and him appearing was redundant, right?
So he was tactful, preparing to go back today. Staying here was fine since Orion’s wedding had already ended.
He took out his phone, ready to call Elijah to tell him he was going back to handle work matters.
As he took out his phone and before making the call, a dark figure suddenly appeared across the table.
He raised his head and saw Verda sitting in the chair opposite him.
Xander was a bit surprised. “You’re staying here too?”
Verda shook her head. “I have a home, why stay in a hotel?”
She smiled, “I came specifically to find you.”
She had seen Xander enter this hotel last night at the bar, so she knew he was staying here.
Xander was quite surprised but didn’t show it, teasing, “Have you taken a liking to me? Planning to pursue me?”
