Chapter 46 Facing His Feelings
Originally, Elijah wasn’t interested, but after Maddox’s reminder, he turned his gaze towards the stage.
Under the spotlight, a striking figure sat gracefully in front of the piano. He raised an eyebrow, quite surprised that Freya appeared in this setting. He hadn’t expected that she could play the piano.
Maddox said, “Miss Stone is versatile. My wife mentioned that she’s also a talented dancer.”
Elijah’s gaze was fixed on the stage, his eyes unwavering.
Freya placed her slender fingers gently on the piano keys, relaxing her body. She pressed down on the keys with a slight force, creating the first note. Following a slow and orderly rhythm, a beautiful melody emerged.
Maddox, not understanding the piano, just wanted to share his joy with Elijah. “I’ve put a lot of effort into developing this drug. Without the significant investment from you in the later stages, it wouldn’t have been possible to develop it so quickly.”
Elijah appeared today because he was an investor, having shares and a say.
“Afterward, we need to have a meeting to discuss the sales pricing. I wonder if you have time the day after tomorrow to attend?”
Elijah wasn’t interested in Maddox’s incessant talking. His heart and eyes were on the stage.
Maddox might not appreciate it, but Elijah knew that Freya was playing a famous piece, “Variations on Canon”, which suited the occasion perfectly.
This piece seemed to possess a magical quality, conveying a message to the listeners: “Nothing is impossible as long as you hold onto your dreams and persist; they will eventually come true.”
This was the first time Elijah had openly acknowledged this woman, admitting that she is outstanding. She was more than just a beautiful face; she was skilled in medicine, dancing, and even playing the piano. If he hadn’t heard it with his own ears, he probably wouldn’t believe that such a skillful and accomplished piano performance could come from her.
The piece concluded quickly, followed by enthusiastic applause from the audience.
There weren’t many who truly appreciate it.
A man with glasses, clapping particularly enthusiastically, seemed to be very appreciative. He came over and asked Maddox, “Mr Greyson, is the pianist also from your wife’s Dance Studio?”
Maddox replied, “She used to be, but not anymore. She came today to help temporarily.”
The man with glasses asked again, “Does she have a boyfriend?”
Elijah’s gaze instantly shifted over.
The man pushed up his glasses and, judging by his expression, seemed to be interested in Freya.
Elijah’s expression darkened instantly!
Before Maddox could answer, Elijah spoke, “She’s already married.”
Maddox was surprised, “Mr Silverton, are you mistaken? My wife asked her, and she doesn’t even have a boyfriend. How could she be married?”
“This young lady not only looks beautiful but also plays the piano so well.” the man with glasses commented, clearly impressed. He stood up to go backstage, probably wanting to exchange contact information and get to know her.
Elijah, being a man, understood the intentions of the man with glasses all too well. He stood up, saying, “I have something to attend to. I’m leaving.”
Maddox said, “It’s just the beginning…” But seeing Elijah’s icy expression, he swallowed his words and added, “I’ll see you off.”
As they walked out, Elijah asked, “The man with glasses just now, who is he in your company?”
“He’s a technician,” Maddox replied. “A top talent I hired with a high salary from another pharmaceutical company. He was crucial in the development of this drug…”
“Enough,” Elijah interrupted. He had no interest in listening.
Maddox realized he had been too excited and talked too much today, so he fell silent.
Once outside the company, Elijah called Orion to get Freya’s contact information. Sitting in his car, Elijah dialed her number.
Freya had changed into different clothes and was about to come out when a man with glasses appeared out of nowhere.
“You played the piano beautifully.” The man said.
“Thank you.” She politely replied.
As she walked away, the man followed. “Do you have time tonight? Let me treat you to a movie.”
At that moment, Freya’s phone rang. She answered to hear a deep voice on the other end, “Stay away from that man. Don’t give him your contact information, don’t agree to have dinner with him. Right now, come to the side of the road.”
Freya was confused.
She looked towards the roadside and saw Elijah’s car. It dawned on her; Elijah was Ms Quinn’s husband’s investor and would probably come today. She sighed, wondering how she could forget about it.
“Hurry up!” the voice insisted.
“I understand.” She replied.
Ending the call, she apologized to the man with glasses, “I’m sorry, I have something to attend to. I need to leave.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
She walked quickly towards Elijah’s car. As soon as her hand touched the back door handle, Elijah said, “Sit in the front.”
Reluctantly, Freya sat in the passenger seat. As she settled, Elijah spoke with a somewhat helpless tone, “Freya Stone, can’t you stay out of trouble?”
Freya furrowed her brows, finding him irrational.
What had she done to provoke him?
“Stop creating problems out of thin air.” She said and fastened her seatbelt.
Elijah didn’t know what was wrong with himself. Whenever he faced her and heard her talk, he easily got irritated. Since he met this woman, his lungs hadn’t been in good shape!
“Don’t tell anyone you’re not married any more.” He restrained his anger.
Freya didn’t want to upset him either. Since she was leaving, she decided to leave a good impression.
“Okay, I’ll do as you say.”
Elijah’s tightly furrowed brows relaxed. Joy overflowed in his expression.
For once, the two got along peacefully and drove back to the villa. When the car stopped, and Freya was about to get out, Elijah suddenly grabbed her hand.
Freya widened her eyes in surprise, blinking her long eyelashes at him. “What are you doing?”
Elijah hadn’t come back for a few days because he was upset with her. Or maybe it was because she asked Orion to find a woman for him. But this woman seemed entirely unaffected.
Seeing her rosy complexion, he knew she was living well.
This woman was simply carefree!
“Freya Stone, can’t you stay still?” His voice was low, every word clear. He didn’t want to acknowledge his growing fondness for her. But he couldn’t control his heart. Even though he knew she had a history with another man, a pregnancy, and a miscarriage… All sorts of unfavorable things could not stop him from being attracted to her.
Freya asked, “Did I upset you again?”
Why was he so quick-tempered?
Of course, she was just complaining in her heart. She didn’t dare say it out loud. With a docile smile, she replied, “Alright, I won’t make you angry in the future.”
She laughed and continued, “Can you let go of me now? I need to get out of the car.”
Elijah, with his head down, staring at her luscious lips, thinking about her confident and elegant piano playing, was moved. He lowered his head and kissed her.
Freya Stone, taken aback, immediately pushed him away. “What are you doing?”
Elijah caught her hands and prevented her from moving, deepening the kiss, stifling the words she was about to say.
His hands slid under her clothes, reaching…
