Chapter 44 Sowing a Discord
Yolanda Steele blocked Freya Stone’s path, seeking revenge for her son’s situation. She orchestrated a public scene, kneeling and accusing Freya of heartlessness, intending to paint her as an ungrateful daughter and elder sister. The crowd’s sympathy shifted towards Yolanda Steele, fueled by her dramatic performance and accusations.
As she cried, she accused, “Zane is your younger brother, how could you just stand by and do nothing? Has your conscience been eaten by dogs? He’s your own flesh and blood…”
Her voice was full of tears. For those who didn’t know, it seemed like she was really wronged. There was a crowd at the hospital entrance. The moment she started making a scene, a lot of people gathered to watch.
Setting aside right or wrong for a moment, just the sight of an elder kneeling in front of a younger person was enough to make people sympathize with the one kneeling. And when Yolanda joined in, pointing the finger at Freya, the focus quickly shifted to Freya.
People were buzzing with discussions.
Some self-righteous individuals began to scold Freya, “How could you be so insensitive? Letting an elder kneel in front of you, considering your young age, why is your heart so cold?”
Yolanda immediately chimed in, “Someone is bullying her brother, she could help, but she refuses to. She’s still his sister!”
As Yolanda continued her emotional display, Freya remained composed, ready to leave. However, Yolanda clung to her leg, demanding an answer regarding helping Zane.
“Tell me, are you going to save Zane?”NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
She knew Zane Stone was in the wrong. This matter required legal responsibility. Besides, she was aware that this situation could have been resolved, as long as Elijah Silverton didn’t pursue it. With Elijah’s influence, this matter could be smoothed over. All Freya had to do was to be willing to plead with Elijah. There would be room for maneuver.
“He brought this upon himself.” Freya coldly replied.
“But he’s your brother!” Yolanda persisted.
“You’re my dad’s mistress, what does your child have to do with me?”
Irritated, Freya exposed Yolanda’s status as her father’s mistress and questioned.
The term “mistress” had a powerful effect on the spectators.
“You stand by and do nothing, then you throw dirt on me. You really are heartless and ruthless. Your dad was right about you, cold-hearted and selfish, malicious and cruel. You truly are that ruthless.” Yolanda Steele shifted tactics and said, portraying Leo Stone’s harsh opinions of Freya Stone, attempting to damage their relationship.
Freya was momentarily shaken, learning about her father’s negative perception of her.
Seeing Freya’s expression change, Yolanda knew her words had an impact. She continued with a barrage of lies, “Your dad tried to reach out to you, but you refused to help. When he got back home, he threw things around and expressed regret, saying he should have strangled you when you were born. He shouldn’t have let you live in this world.”
Freya’s hand hanging at her side trembled for a moment, but soon she regained her composure. Her gaze became even colder.
At this moment, Orion Russo happened to come to work. He intervened, dispersing the onlookers and standing in front of Freya.
“Stop staring, there’s nothing interesting. If you need medical attention, go get it!” said he to the crowd.
After saying that, he escorted Freya away.
Yolanda still wanted to step forward, but Orion stopped her with a warning, “If you cause any more trouble, I’ll call the police!”
Yolanda finally behaved.
“What’s going on? Didn’t I help you with the discharge procedures? Why did you leave the hospital on your own?” Orion asked as he led Freya to his car.
Freya lowered her head. “I wanted to leave the hospital sooner.”
So she handled the discharge procedures herself.
“Should I take you home now?” he asked.
“Yes.” Freya nodded.
During the drive to the villa, neither of them spoke. When they reached the entrance, Orion Russo stopped the car and hesitated for a moment before telling her, “Yesterday, following your instructions, I found a woman for Elijah, but he didn’t touch her.”
Freya suddenly looked up. There was a bit of surprise in her heart, and a joy she hadn’t realized herself. But her expression remained cold.
“Is that so?”
“Yes, I can’t lie to you.” Orion Russo nodded firmly.
Freya believed Orion. She pushed open the car door and got out.
Orion suddenly called after her, “Freya.”
“Hmm?” she turned around.
Orion looked at her. “Has Luna really not contacted you?”
Freya avoided his gaze. “… No.”
It wasn’t that she was lying to Orion Russo, but Luna Ann simply didn’t allow her to tell him about knowing her whereabouts. Luna Ann was Freya’s senior and Orion Russo’s contemporary. She was also the person Orion Russo liked.
When they were in school, they were an enviable couple. But they eventually broke up, and then Luna left. Orion searched for her for a long time but couldn’t find her.
“If she contacts you, you must tell me. Even if we break up, I think there should be a reason, not just leaving without a word.”
His expression was gloomy.
Freya nodded and said, “Okay.”
She felt sorry for Orion, but she had promised Luna, so she could only keep silent.
Freya walked into the villa, and Linda was about to go out to prepare to go to the hospital, unaware that Freya Stone was getting discharged today.
“You’re discharged?” Linda said happily.
Freya nodded.
“As long as you’re better.” Linda helped her inside.
Elijah came down from upstairs, saw her, said nothing, not even a glance her way. He was still upset about her finding a woman for him.
What did she take him for?
He could just go for any woman she found?
Freya sensed Elijah’s unusual mood but didn’t know why he was angry. After he left, she asked Linda, “What’s wrong with him? Who made him angry?”
Linda shook her head. “I don’t know.”
Freya wondered if it was still because of last night. If he was angry, shouldn’t it be directed at Liora Valentine? After all, Liora deceived him, even though the drugged wine was meant for her, Elijah ended up drinking it.
Orion said he didn’t touch a woman last night. Was he tormented by that last night?
Moreover, that drug was administered by Liora Valentine.
So, was he angry with Liora Valentine?
Freya didn’t dwell on it too much once she figured it out. In the afternoon, she leaned over her computer, responding to patient messages.
Suddenly, Linda rushed up anxiously with her phone. “Madam, something’s not right. Take a look quickly.”
