Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

** Lisa’s POV**

I have an early class this morning. But before I could enter the school gate, I already saw Leon waiting for me outside. Worried was written all over his face. I Approached him immediately and kissed him on the cheek.

“Waiting for someone this early?” I mischievously asked him.

“Yes. I am waiting for you. I am just worried about the outcome of your talk with your father.” He worriedly asked me.

“Well, I can say it was good. He didn’t scold me nor did he raise his voice. He just wanted to talk to you personally today after class. Will you come? This is the only time he has for the week.” I told him.

“Hmmmm, ok. We will go. Just don’t leave me, stay with me.” He requested. I was laughing at his gesture. I can see that he is nervous.

“Don’t worry, I will be by your side. My father didn’t bite. He is a reasonable man. That’s why I love him.” I told him.

We proceed to our classes. Good thing that they don’t have practice for today because they were given time to catch up with their subjects. Classes had ended and we were heading outside of the campus. I have waited for Leon at the parking lot so that I can go home to my father’s house, and my father wants to talk to Leon. He approached me nervously, as if he was going to a first job interview.

“You can cancel this meeting if you are not comfortable. I just don’t want you to be fidgeting in front of my father if you are not sure of your intention to me.” I told him.

“It is not that. I love you and I can always fight for my love for you. I am really nervous because this is my first time facing the parents of the girl I love. I can definitely answer him with all honesty and from my heart.” He explained.

“Then we will both face him. I will not leave you, even if he would tell me to leave. I wanted to hear what he is going to ask you and what will be your answer.” I encourage him.

After that conversation he drove me home to my father’s house. It was a silent ride. Both of us were nervous and thinking of what could take place with this talk. I just hope everything will turn out right.

We arrived home and my father had already waited for us in the living room. I greeted my father with a kiss on the cheek. And Leon was greeting my father with a hand shake. My father motioned us to sit. I saw that Leon was not comfortable, so I held his hands which were really cold. He was really nervous.

“Relax man, I don’t bite.” My father told Leon.

“It is not that Sir. This is really my first time talking in front of my father’s girlfriend.” He explained.

“So, my daughter is your first girlfriend?” He asked.

“Not officially, to be honest Sir.” He said nervously.

“Oh, I see. How is that?” He questioned.

“Sir, I won’t brag about myself since I am the Lead Captain of the team and even though I don’t want to be entangled with girls at school, they always swarm around us. To be honest Sir, I don’t have any intimate relationship with anyone, just your daughter. I love her with all my heart and my intention to her is pure. We will put studies as our priorities because I also wanted to give my future family a good life. Rest assured Sir that I always respect your daughter and we will not cross the boundary of our relationship.” He narrated.

“I have nothing against your relationship or your relationship with my daughter. I am a father and I wanted to protect my daughter from getting hurt. I wanted to request from both of you that you make studying your priorities, as you said, you also wanted to give your future family a good life. No crossing boundaries with your relationship. After you both graduate, you both can have whatever life you want or get married if you are both ready. That is all I asked from both of you. Don’t waste your parents’ time and money. Time is always gold. Do I make myself clear to both of you?” My father stated.

“Yes Sir.”

“Yes Father.”

We answered in unison.

“From now on, you are not leaving my daughter outside the gate of this house whenever you take her home. Is that understood by Leon?” My father told Leon.

“Most definitely Sir. Thank you for understanding.” Leon said.

“I love my daughter and if he loves you, I will give you the chance to show your love to her. Just don’t hurt my daughter.” My father requested.

“I won’t Sir. I would be the first to get hurt if I hurt her.” Leon said.

“Ok, I will leave you two for now. Behave yourself.” My father said, and he proceeded to his room.

It was really an interrogation night for both of us. But I am happy that my father understood us. While we were sitting in the living room, I felt someone was watching us from above the stairs and staring angrily at us. Leon was cuddling me while we were talking and the feeling of someone who is about to separate us in anger. I knew my father was already in his room resting though not yet asleep. But I could feel something dangerous was about to happen, so I told Leon to leave and said goodbye to my father. I went upstairs to knock on my father’s door, when someone grabbed me by my wrist, and slammed me on the wall away from my father’s door. I was staring at my brother-in-law, shocked and angry the way he was reacting.

“What are you doing? If you don’t release me, I will scream.” He was really furious, something enough for me to be strangled.

“Is he your boyfriend now?” I don’t know what he was concerned about.

“It is none of your business whom I will get involved with, besides you already with my half-sister. What’s the fuss?” I straggled hard to release my wrist from his hold. My brother-in-law left for their room. Then I went straight to my father’s room and knocked. He opened the door.

“Leon is leaving and he wanted to say goodbye.” We went straight downstairs to send Leon home. Leon bid his goodbye to my father and thanked my father for the understanding he gave to our relationship.

I led Leon to the gate beside his car and he kissed my lips good night. I felt someone was watching us from the window. When I looked up, I saw my brother-in-law shooting a dagger at us. Though I didn’t tell Leon what had happened a while ago. I just don’t want any troubles for Leon and me. I will deal with it soon.
