Chapter 59
Chapter 59 Cruel to You
Zera burst into tears.
“Why are you doing this to me?” She turned and ran toward the elevator.
“Zera! Zera!” Worrying that she would try to kill herself like last time, Rita gave chase.
When they were gone, Maia pushed Cedric off her.
The doctor and the nurse let out an embarrassed smile. “We’re here to change your dressing, sir.” Cedric’s gaze was still fixed on Maia. “Teach her how to do it.”
He sounded adamant.
The doctor and nurse looked at Maia.
“We would really appreciate it if you could help, miss. We should have changed his dressing long ago,” the doctor asked pleadingly.
Maia frowned, not yielding.
Cedric frowned and snorted.
The doctor grew desperate and quickly handed the dressing tray to Maia. “Please, miss!”
Maia was flustered.
That asshole must have told the doctor to do this!
Clenching her teeth, Maia took the dressing tray. With the doctor’s instructions, she began changing Cedric’s dressing. Cedric looked at her with a triumphant half-smile.
Exasperated, Maia parted his gown and saw that a large part of his back was covered in a burn scar. She wondered where he had gotten it as she had never seen it before.
The doctor said, “Please first remove the gauze on him.” Puzzled by the scar, Maia, however, was in deep thought. “Miss? Miss?” the doctor called out.
Maia caught herself. “What did you just say?”
With a smile, the doctor said, “Please remove the gauze fi first.”
Maia nodded and followed his instructions step by step.

As she wasn’t gentle, Cedric winced several times due to pain. “Aww, I’m so sorry. Did 1 hurt you?” Maia asked sarcastically.

Cedric knew she was doing it on purpose, but it didn’t bother him. “Well, it’s worth it, isn’t it?” Jerk! Maia grew irritated.
She saw the young nurse giving her an envious look and rolled her eyes. She quickly changed his dressing and tied a knot at his chest according to the doctor's instructions.
Just as she was about to let go, he held her hand.
“Can you be gentler tomorrow, honey?”
The doctor and the nurse lowered their heads and tried not to laugh. Maia felt like punching Cedric for acting like this. Instead of answering him, she placed the dressing tray on the cart and nodded at the nurse. Thank you for your help.” “Don’t mention it, miss.” The nurse smiled with an envious look.
“Sir, you must be careful not to exert too much strength with your arms, or it may make your wound worse. The key to healing is bed rest.” It was clear he was talking about Cedric
embracing and kissing Maia just now.
The doctor and nurse then left, chuckling.
Not long after they were gone, a flurry of footsteps and shouting came from outside. “Hurry! Someone is trying to hang herself!”
“What? Who?”
“| think it's Zera Larkin.”
“Zera Larkin? You're not talking about one of our country’s top four female influencers, are you?” “Who else could it be?”
Hearing this, Maia frowned.
Not again?
Suddenly, someone knocked urgently on the door.
Throwing the door open, a nurse stood at the door with a wheelchair and shouted, “Sir, your mom asks for you. Ms. Zera is emotionally distressed and is trying to hang herself!”

Cedric snorted. “What the fuck do | care if she dies?” The nurse was stunned. “But your mom...”
“Tell her to call a funeral parlor. They could give her all the help she needs.”
Taken aback, the young nurse gasped and blinked.
“Yes, sir.” She caught herself and hurried away.
Cedric and Maia were left alone in the ward again.
“Do you like what | did, honey?” he said.
Maia said, “I’m not your honey! And Zera’s going to kill herself. Don’t you think you’re being a bit too cruel to her? But then again, you've always been cruel, haven't you?” “I'll never be cruel to you.”
Maia smirked. “Oh, yeah? But | will be cruel to you.”
“I look forward to it.”
“Go to hell!” Maia turned the door handle and left as he chuckled.
As she reached the elevator, Jordan called out, “Maia!”
“Hey, Jordan.” Maia stopped and saw him coming over.
“| was told the airport will resume operations this afternoon, and the chartered plane will be available at 6 p.m. I’ve already arranged for transport to the airport.”
“Tonight? Can Cedric be discharged?” Jordan said, “His doctor said there should be no major issues with him flying. He’s much stronger than an average person.” “Then | can finally go home tonight. Jordan, come back with me.”
Jordan shook his head. “I'll report to the company in a few more days, after | settle some matters. Can you give Aiken a ride instead? He has jobs waiting for him, and his agent has even called me about it.”
Maia nodded. “Sure.” At 5.45 p.m., Maia’s long hair billowed in the breeze as she waited on the tarmac. 3/3
