Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Half an hour later, Brian strode into the Wright family estate with a stern face. Nate was in the
garden and toddled towards Brian with his chubby legs when he saw Brian approaching.
“Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!”
Hearing Nate call out to him inflicted a feeling in Brian akin to constipation, because he felt a frustration
clogging his chest with no outlet for release.
“Daddy, you’re not home. Great–grandpa said… Daddy went to find Mommy.” Nate mumbled as he
burrowed into Brian’s embrace, latching onto one of his legs. His big doe eyes were misty with tears,
stumbling over his words in a rush to explain.
Nate was missing his mom. So, when Davis casually mentioned that Brian had gone to find her. Nate
took
it to heart, waiting and waiting until the sky darkened and he grew sleepy, but Brian had still not come
home.
He couldn’t wait to see his mom.
Gracia followed Nate, careful not to let him fall, and approached Brian to explain softly, “The maid saw
Nate wandering alone by the base of our garden wall. I don’t know how he got here.”
Brian looked down at the little rascal. He was three years old and already plotting escapes. How
impressive.
However, hearing Nate mention “Mommy,” he ultimately held back his anger, bent down, and scooped
up Nate with one arm.
Gracia glanced at Brian as if sensing his intention to leave and softly suggested, “Nate just fell asleep.
Why don’t you let him spend the night here?”
Brian exchanged a look with Gracia, his expression indifferent as he replied. “No need. He’s picky
about where he sleeps.”
Nate quickly piped up. “I’m sleepy.”
“Sleepy and running away from home!” Brian gave his little bottom a firm pat.
“Running away… from home?” Nate looked confused, not understanding what Brian meant.
Brian couldn’t fathom how, with Nate’s limited intellect, the boy managed to travel a dozen miles to the
Wright family on his own. Asking for an explanation would be futile. With Nate’s limited vocabulary,
they’d be at it until dawn without clarity.
“Let’s go home,” he said in a low voice, brooking no argument.
Nate glanced back at Gracia, who had just told him to help her convince Brian to stay. promising to
show him a picture of his mommy if he did.
Nate tilted his little head, pondering for a while, then wrapped his arms around Brian’s neck. “Daddy.
Nate doesn’t mind new beds. Gracia smells nice. I’ll sleep with Gracia.”
Brian’s brow furrowed deeply. What? His three–year–old son had already loved to stay. beauties. That
was remarkable indeed.
Gracia was inwardly anxious, but hearing Nate’s words, she softly added, “It’s okay. I don’t have Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
classes tomorrow, and I’m free from filming and appearances for a while.”
Brian looked up at her, catching the subtext in her words, Gracia was ambitious, and he knew that well.
Two major movie roles a year, courtesy of Davis, made her the envy of the entertainment Industry. No
other female star her age had leading men playing second fiddle to her, yet she was still not satisfied.
Brian wouldn’t have tolerated her presence If it weren’t for her otherwise compliant and sensible nature.
After some silence, he murmured, “The financial issues at the Wright family are under control. Grandpa
will handle it.”
Gracia felt a weight lift off her chest, realizing that the Howard family was already dealing with the
Wright family’s financial scandal. BrightWright Entertainment relied on her as its face, with the
newcomers not yet making a mark. It was crucial to avoid any mishaps. The pressure on her was
immense.
As she breathed a sigh of rellet, Brian turned and walked away, clearly not intending to stay the night.
Suddenly, Gracia remembered something else and hurried after him, calling. “Brian, it’s so late…”
The near–miss with Nate had already soured Brian’s mood, and Gracia’s uncharacteristic clinginess
only added to his irritation.
He turned, giving her a hard look, and pulled a small, elegant box from his pocket, tossing it into her
arms. “Almost forgot. It’s for you.”
With that, he left the Wright family with Nate in his arms, not looking back.
Gracia barely caught the box, and Brian had already driven off when she secured it.
“What did he give you?” Lydia emerged from behind, immediately taking the box from her hands and
opening it to peek inside.
“Oh my…” Lydia gasped in awe.
