White Wolf’s Curse

Chapter 20

When I get there I don’t see anyone. His wolf isn’t here. So I take a seat and hope that he didn’t just skip tonight. Maybe he doesn’t even like me. Maybe he is just hanging out with me to deal with this family feud thing. He doesn’t like it, that much I have gathered. I could be just putting too much thought into this. I mean I accidently thought of this as a date an hour ago.

I am lost in thought and don’t notice the gray wolf on my left. He gives off a low growl, causing me to jump in fright. At first I didn’t realize that it was Gray, until he stuck his tongue out the side of his shout. “God you scared me.”

He does this little wolf snicker. He comes up to me and nudges my leg. “I don’t know what you want.” He blinks his eyes a few times, taking a real long time about it. “Oh, you want me to close my eyes.” He nods.

I do just that. I trust him. I can hear his bones cracking and then feel his hand on my legs. His breath on my face as he leans closer. “Keep ’em closed.” His husky voice sends chills through my body. His hands trail up my body and land on my waist. He pulls me closer to him. He starts by lightly kissing me along my jaw, a few nipping kisses on my neck, moving back up to my mouth. He lets out a satisfied purr. “No one else’s scent. Good girl.”

I am breathless and clinging to his neck as his assault continues. His strong arms pull my body to his and he grips my ass. Holy shit I am in trouble now. I am not imagining this right. I’m not going to wake up any second and wish that this was the truth. It sure feels real. He moves us around so that I am positioned in what feels like in between his legs. He turns my body so that my back is resting on his chest. “You can open your eyes now, just don’t look back.”

I open my eyes and see the powerful legs that surround my body. His strong arms are wrapped around my body. “Aren’t you going to be uncomfortable without any shorts?”

He chuckles. “I am probably going to regret it later, but I’m good for now. I just want to hold you right now. This is all I have thought about all day.”

“Why? Why me? Don’t get me wrong I love it, but I’m nothing special. Why go through all this trouble to be around me?”

He leans forward and kisses my head. “I am drawn to you. Your scent is like ambrosia. Your kiss is like my breath. I enjoy talking to you.”

“Then why don’t you want me to see who you are?” I don’t know if I want the answer to this question.

He sighs. “Have they told you about mates yet?”

“Kind of. Not much but a little.”

“When you turn eighteen you sense your mate, as long as they are of age too. Some of us look for a while before finding them. I don’t want your judgment to be clouded if you see me before then. I want to know for sure that you and I are mated. It’s your life partner. I don’t want us to have problems.”

“Why would I be confused? Isn’t it a feeling?”

His fingers are gliding along my arms. “The problem is that I already feel for you so much and I am scared that if you see me then you will too. Then it will get all confused. You are such an amazing person, you deserve someone way better than me. I don’t want you confused is all.”

“I still don’t get how I could be confused.”

“It happens. It happened with my mom.”

This is kind of the first time that he has opened up to me about this stuff. “Your mom?”

“Yeah, my dad is who she thought her mate was. He’s great by the way. My mom was stupid to leave him for her so-called mate, but the way she is acting lately, maybe she deserves him. Anyway, they were together for three years. They had me, then one day she found her mate. My dad was crushed, but he understood. I don’t, but it’s their love life. My dad still hasn’t found his mate.”

I cry a little inside, that is sad. “I’m sorry.”

He sighs. “Don’t be. It’s just that is why I am guarded. I want you to see me. I do. I just want to wait is all.”

“Wouldn’t I just see your wolf and know it’s you?”

“As soon as it hits your birthday I am not going to be in my fur until I hear that you found your mate. I really hope it is me, but I am not going to influence the choice.”

I nod in understanding. “So, what did you do all day?”

He knows I am changing the subject and he chuckles. “Well, aside from checking you out at work through the windows, I did some work with my dad this morning. Then my mom made me take my sister places. Like I am a damn taxi. I don’t like her very much.”

“She is still your sister.” I point out.

“You only say that because you like your siblings.”

I lean back a little more. “I didn’t always.”

He squeezes me tighter. “What do you mean?”

I try to smile through it but it does hurt that I had these thoughts. “It was hard sometimes. Especially with the twins. They have this anxiety thing, they hold hands when they are scared. I guess if they were the same sex it wouldn’t be as bad, but they are not. So people started talking crap about them. I just wanted them to stop. Make the problem go away. I started to hate them for it. Then one day this guy was ragging on them calling them sick freaks. I just lost it. I beat the crap out of the guy. After it was done my brother and sister ran into my arms and I don’t know, things changed. I realized that they needed me. I could help them through what they were dealing with. I needed to be there for them. After a while the hate went away. I love my brothers and sister more than anything.”

He kisses the top of my head. “It’s alright. You worked it out. They adore you. I can smell them all over you.”

“That they do. I have been actually happy moving here, they are more relaxed. All of them are doing so well.”

He rested his chin on my head. “It seems that you have too.”

I shrug. “I guess. Not all of it is fun. I don’t like fighting with Kelly. Really I am not in any competition with her. She can have it all. Even being cheer captain, she just needs to do it right.”

“Unfortunately, she is the type of girl that doesn’t learn lessons easily. She is just going to blame you for everything. My sister is the same way.”

“Yeah, I know the type, but she isn’t my only problem either. Trey keeps pestering me for a date. I don’t really feel that way about him. He’s nice and all, but I really just see him as a friend. Then today at the diner some guy gave me his number. And to top it off he is Kelly’s brother. I am definitely not interested in that.”

He chuckles behind me. “What are you interested in?”

“I plead the fifth.” I smile. He squeezes me a little tighter.

“We are in trouble aren’t we?” He whispers in my ear, sending tingles through my body. “You can’t fall for me Green.”

My smile deepens. “Then you can’t fall for me Gray.” He groans.

“I think it might be too late for that.” We are quiet for a moment then he sighs. “I should probably get going. Someone is going to come looking for me if I don’t. Not that I want her too, but she is being difficult lately.”

“You mean your mom.”

“Yeah, she was the one I heard yesterday. I kept her from you, but that doesn’t mean that she won’t try again. I don’t want her to know it’s you I am meeting.”

“Are we really doing such a bad thing?”

He kisses the back of my neck. “No, they are just stupid in their traditions and don’t realize it. We are doing nothing wrong.”

I close my eyes. “My eyes are closed. You can get up now.”

He shifts out from behind me but kisses my lips one last time before I hear his bones crack in the shift. He gives me a small yip. Opening my eyes I see his beautiful blue eyes. He is so majestic in his wolf form. I can’t wait to see his human side. “Good night Gray.”

He nods to me and pads off. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Later that night I empty my pockets and see the note from Justin. I don’t really want to open it, but curiosity gets the best of me.

I look forward to spending time with you.

That’s all. What the hell. I am not spending time with him. He has problems.
