Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 480

Chapter 480

The doors of the emergency room swung open, and the doctor emerged.

Francis immediately approached, "How's my brother?"

"Mr. Francis, Mr. Gilbert needs to be taken to surgery immediately. He has too many injuries. The ER isn't equipped to handle this."

Sherilyn's heart sank.

"Alright," Francis nodded, decisive. "I'll sign whatever you need. Just hurry."

"Of course, Mr. Francis."

After the paperwork was finished, Gilbert was wheeled straight from the ER to the OR, without Francis and Sherilyn getting a chance to see him.

They took a seat side by side on the bench outside the OR.

"Don't worry."

Francis patted Sherilyn's shoulder. "Gilbert will be fine. The doctor said he's badly hurt, but none of it's fatal."

"Yeah." Sherilyn clenched her fists. "I know, Fran. I'm not scared."

Medical science was advanced; Francis wouldn't let anything happen to his brother.

Soon, Sawyer showed up.

He was there for Caroline, who had been brought to the hospital along with Gilbert. She was the center of tonight's drama, not just Gilbert.

Francis got up, understanding the situation. "Sherilyn, please stay here for Gilbert. I need to check on Caroline."

"Sure, Fran."

Sherilyn stood up and watched him go over to Caroline.

Suddenly, the worry that had been heavy on her heart dissipated.

Right, what was there for her to worry about?

It wasn't her place to be concerned...

Sherilyn lowered her gaze and sat down again, leaning back and closing her eyes.

Before she knew it, she was drifting off to sleep.

After what felt like an eternity...

"Sherilyn, Sherilyn?"

She opened her eyes, frowning at Charles calling her.

Charles looked both shocked and puzzled. Could Sherilyn really have fallen asleep? With Mr. Gilbert in surgery, how could she rest? Wasn't

she

worried?

"Wake up," Charles frowned, suppressing his annoyance. "Mr. Gilbert's out."

"Oh, okay."

Sherilyn shook off her sleepiness and saw that the OR door was indeed open.

Francis was there, talking to a doctor about something.

"He'll be moved to a ward soon, don't worry. Everything's fine," the doctor reassured.

"Thank you," Francis expressed his gratitude.

Sherilyn got up and approached. "Fran."

"Hmm." Francis eyed her sleepily and frowned. "Gilbert's being moved to his room. Let's go."

"Okay." Sherilyn nodded and followed him.

VIP ward.

Gilbert lay quietly on the hospital bed, still under anesthesia and not yet awake. His complexion was a bit pale but the monitor showed his vitals were stable. Content belongs

Francis turned to Sherilyn and said, "Gilbert's going to be okay. Stay with him for a bit."

"Will do, Fran," she replied.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

The ward fell silent, and Sherilyn, sitting on the edge of the bed, yawned behind her hand.

Time ticked by, and Gilbert remained unconscious.

As daylight broke, Sherilyn checked the time, stood up, and opened the door to the ward.

Charles was just about to enter and stopped, surprised. "Sherilyn, something wrong?"

She smiled at him. "I've got work. I need to leave."

With that, she stepped out, but Charles grabbed her arm.
