CHAPTER 80
Chapter 80 The Patel family’s situation is complicated!
A stocker pushing a shelf passed by, interrupting the conversation by saying, “Excuse me, just passing through.”
I pulled Elissa back a bit and asked, “What did you just say?”
“Is she Charlie’s biological daughter?”
Elissa looked excited.
I frowned, “It’s unlikely, since she’s two years older than Christopher.”
Wouldn’t it be too early for an affair?
“What’s so unlikely about that?”
Elissa dismissed it, excitedly gossiping about the wealthy. “In families like theirs, it’s common to have a wife at home and many lovers outside, no?”
“But…”
I still felt something was off. “If Evelyn’s really his daughter, and Grandpa Valence disliked her so much, why wouldn’t Charlie tell fiim?”
After all, he’d definitely treat his own granddaughter differently.
Hearing this, Elissa also found it strange. “You’re right. If Evelyn really is his daughter, why would he let her be with Christopher? Isn’t that messy?”
I nodded, not saying anything furthermore. She suddenly said, “Wait, it’s strange. It doesn’t make sense no matter how you think about it.”
“Forget about it; it’s none of our business.”
I patted her head before handing her a bag of chips, “Here, your favorite tomato flavor.”
After all, next month would come soon.
Once the divorce papers were in hand, Christopher and I would be living in two different worlds from then on, not to mention Charlie and Evelyn.
Even if they were blood–related, let alone sleeping in the same bed, it had nothing to do with me.
The dinner place that night was at a restaurant in Country M, with Elissa and I arriving first.
When Cecil arrived alone, Elissa looked, at him with a sarcastic smirk, not saying a word.
I saw through it and asked, “Cecil, is Ivan not coming?”

Ivan always managed to show up where Elissa was.
Cecil also knew about their relationship, so he hesitated and replied, “He’s got something to do today.”
Elissa, however, saw through him. “He’s out on a blind date; his family wants him to get married soon.”
I was momentarily stunned, feeling a sense of helplessness I couldn’t express. However, it wasn’t entirely unexpected; I just didn’t expect it coming so soon.
He and Elissa’s relationship had been doomed to have no future from the start.
Just like Christopher and L. If it weren’t for Grandpa Valence, how could I have married into the Valences?
I didn’t advise Elissa on anything in front of Cecil.
It was Elissa who spoke first, ‘Hope, you participated in the design competition on behalf of F&A, won first place, but you’ve already resigned. What about the joint funds?”
Hearing this, I was surprised. I looked at Cecil, “Yes, forget it. I’ve already resigned, anyways.”
Cecil raised an eyebrow, pursing his lips. “Do you have any interest in joining MS Group?”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
MS Group?
I widened my eyes, unable to believe what I was hearing.
Designers at MS Group were mostly award–winners at international competitions or had names for themselves.
I didn’t think I was qualified yet, so I never dared to think about it.
Cecil nodded, licking his lips. “I remember the company you admired inost in college was MS Group.”
“Cecil, you have a particularly good memory when it comes to Hope’s matters.”
Elissa teased, “Is there anything she said that you don’t remember?”
I felt awkward, about to speak up before Cecil calmly replied, “Not at the moment.”
Elissa quickly glanced at me, her ambiguity almost overflowing.
I was a bit puzzled, but seeing his indifferent demeanor, I was sure it wasn’t the meaning Elissa had in mind.
Besides, he had someone he liked. He had liked her for twenty years, so he wouldn’t be interested in a female divorcee
like me.
Cecil poured me some com juice and replied, “No rush to answer, just think about it first.”
“Okay.”
I still felt a bit overwhelmed inside.
Chapter 80 The Patel family’s situation is complicated!
After all, it was a company I had admired for so many years. Having it suddenly within reach felt like a dream.
Elissa made an excuse to go play in the next program after dinner, so she asked Cecil to take me home.
I helplessly said in the car, “I’m bothering you again.”
“What bother? You treated me to a meal, so of course I should drive you home as thanks.” Cecil teased with a smile.
1 chuckled, “You didn’t even let me pay the bill, so what’s there to thank for?”
Halfway through the meal, he used a phone call as an excuse to go pay the bill.
His fingers rested on the steering wheel, exuding a natural elegance. He looked over and interrupted, “You treat, I pay; no difference. If you want to thank me again, you’ll have to treat me to another meal.”
I shrugged, feeling like he had outsmarted me,
I gave him Riverside Garden’s address. Since Christopher had promised to come get the papers as agreed, he wouldn’t be staying here anymore.
I assumed that after I moved out, he hadn’t returned, either.
I couldn’t stay at Elissa’s house for too long either, so it was better to go back to Riverside Garden first.
When we arrived, I got out of the car and shivered from the cold wind blowing in from the garage entrance. I quickly wrapped my coat around me and waved to Cecil. “You should head back now. Goodbye! Take care!”
He watched me the whole time, exuding a gentle aura. “I know; you should go up.”
“Okay.”
After I replied, I hurriedly ran into the apartment building without looking back.
At least it wasn’t as cold inside.
When I opened the door, I was startled by the bright lights. Had someone broken in? Or did I forget to turn off the lights when I stayed at Elissa’s last–time?
But then, I furrowed my brows.
There was a pair of shiny men’s leather shoes in the entrance; they were custom–made, not available on the market.
Christopher stood on the balcony, fingertips flickering with a faint crimson.
I asked, “Why are you here?”
Seeming a bit distracted, he waited until I approached before stiffening his back, turning around and extinguishing the cigarette butt in his hand. His voice carried a hint of early winter chill as he asked, “Did he drive you back?”
“Yes,”

I admitted frankly, “You haven’t said why you’re here. Or are you having second thoughts and not planning to give me this apartment?”
Christopher clicked his tongue against his teeth, “Am I that petty?”
I uttered, “Then please leave.”
“You’re in such a hurry to draw the line with me.”
His eyebrows furrowed slightly, his eyes filled with coldness. “What do you think Cecil is? The Patel family’s situation
even more complicated than the Valence family’s!”
“But that’s none of your concern, Christopher. Let’s not meddle in each other’s lives, okay?” I was exhausted from this
matter.
He didn’t respond, only walking to the coffee table. He picked up a paper bag and handed it to me, saying, “This; you should keep it.”
