When Left

CHAPTER 47

Chapter 47 Medical Checkup

I guessed that the person that currently talking to Elissa was Ivan.

Elissa’s anger had not been fully unleashed yet.

“You’re right, Evelyn was pregnant. Hope had been hurt by you guys so many times; why didn’t you just let her go?”

“Hope Christopher won’t have regrets in the future.”

“He dared to deceive Hope; he will get his comeuppance in the future!”

“Get lost, don’t count on me to help him persuade Hope. I am too supportive of their divorce.”

I took a deep breath and sat on the windowsill, leaning against the wall.

Then, I took out my phone and messaged Connie.

Connie almost immediately replied to me.

Connie: [Do you already know? The day before yesterday afternoon, Mr. Valence’s father personally took Ms. Evelyn Valence to the CEO’s office.]

Connie: [I’m sorry, I haven’t figured out how to tell you yet. How are you and Mr. Valence doing?]

I suppressed the sadness in my heart as I prepared to reply to her message. Suddenly, Elissa opened the door, pretending as if nothing had happened, and asked me with a smile, “Hope, what are you up to? It’s so boring staying at home. Do you want to go out for a walk?”

I turned off the screen and replied. “No, I want to get my competition drawings out early.”

“All right.”

She flopped onto the bed, propping her head up with one hand as she looked at me. “Well, you go ahead and do your things. I won’t bother you anymore.”

“Okay.”

I didn’t want her to see that my mood was low, which would make her worry.

When I got up to get my sketchpad, I suddenly felt a sharp, dull pain in my lower abdomen. I just reached out to cover it when I felt blood flowing out from my lower body.

“Are you okay, Hope?”

Elissa also noticed my abnormality and stood at the bathroom door, asking.

I opened the door pale-faced, looking somewhat flustered. Tm bleeding.”

Ill take you to the hospital.”

Elissa made a quick decision and held on to me. Don’t worry; we’re heading to the hospital now. Take it easy and walk slowly; don’t rush.

In a moment of urgency, we had to rush to the nearest hospital to her home, Messlushi Hospital.

Upon entering the emergency department, the doctor first ordered a B-ultrasound examination.

At that moment, lying on the examination table, I felt particularly lost; even a sense of daze washed over me.

“Spread your legs a little.”

“Clenched your fists and placed them below your waist.”

Throughout the whole process, I was like a puppet on a string, doing my best to cooperate with the doctor’s instructions and casting aside all feelings of shame.

I was thinking, “Baby, please don’t leave me.”

You’re the only family I have left.”

‘I begged you.’

I suddenly realized that it wasn’t me who gave life to my child, but his arrival gave me the hope to live on well.

And this hope, at that moment, might have been shattered.

As the doctor yanked out the ultrasound wand, my heart raced, and words stuck in my throat. Took me ages to blurt. “Doc, Is my baby still here?”

“Yes, it is, but the situation is a bit dire. Take the report and show it to the attending doctor.”

After listening to the doctor’s words, I breathed a sigh of relief, but I couldn’t completely relax. I pursed my dry lips and replied, “Okay, got it.”

After leaving the examination room, Elissa immediately approached me and inquired about my y condition.

We arrived at the attending doctor’s area and found it deserted. The nurse told us the doctors were off to pregnant lady in crisis and asked us to sign in again.

Although Messlushi Hospital was a private hospital, it had the world’s top experts, instruments, services, and environment, which are unmatched by public hospitals.

Therefore, the cost of medical treatment was much higher than that of public hospitals.

At that time, there weren’t many patients coming in for medical treatment.

While waiting, I felt blood coming out from my lower body again. “Elissa, could you go buy me some sanitary pads?”

“Did you bleed again?”

Elissa was a bit nervous and immediately stood up from the chair. I’m going to buy some pads. If you have an emergency, call me, okay? If the doctor finishes diagnosing you before I get back, just sit here and wait for me. Don’t go anywhere.”

“Okay.”

I weakly nodded.

Before I felt uncomfortable, I occasionally vomited during pregnancy, just like before I was pregnant.

I just realized I was too exhausted, with no extra energy left.

“Number 36, Hope Royston, please proceed to the third examination room for your appointment.”

I sat at the entrance, stood up, walked in, and handed the report to the doctor. “Doctor, could you please help me diagnose? I suddenly started bleeding today.” I said.

“Bleeding?”

Doc scanned the report, brows furrowed, typing away. When you came for a check-up a few days ago, all your indicators were normal. How did you suddenly start bleeding? Have you been overworking? Or have you eaten something you shouldn’t have? Or perhaps your emotional fluctuations are too extreme, causing suppressed feelings?”

I pinched the palm of my hand and truthfully said. “I might not be in a great mood today.”

The doctor may have been accustomed to such conditions. “If you are just feeling low today, the situation can’t be that serious. Where is your kin?”

“My friend went to help me buy some things,” I replied.

“I’m asking about your family; where is your husband?”

The doctor’s face darkened. “You are still pregnant, and he made you angry. You called him in, and I told him some pregnancy precautions. Keeping the pregnant woman in a good mood is the most basic thing. Otherwise, he is not worthy of being a father.”

“Chris, you’re supporting me, and I’m still pregnant. The baby should be fine, right? I haven’t had a checkup in days. I don’t know how well he’s developing.”

“Evelyn, could you please be quieter?”

“What’s with your attitude? Getting angry at me now is like being dissatisfied with my child.”

“Can your child hear us talking right now?”

The voices of Evelyn and Christopher came from the slightly ajar doorway.

How did I encounter them again?

The doctor seemed to notice my distress and advised. “You should learn from the pregnant woman at the door, involve your husband in the pregnancy, and nurture his sense of responsibility.”

I smiled bitterly and said, “That wasn’t her husband.”

The doctor asked in astonishment, “What?”

“Nothing.”

Lowering my voice. “Do I need to be hospitalized in my current situation, or should we observe for now?”

The doctor operated on the computer and then said, “After you go back, rest quietly, observe at all times, and if you feel any discomfort, come to the hospital immediately.”

“Okay, thank you.”

I took the bill she handed me; then, she called the next patient.

As I walked to the door, Evelyn’s voice rang out once again, causing me to pause before opening the door.

I had intended to go out after they left, but to my surprise, the next patient pushed the door open. Evelyn immediately saw me, and her face darkened.

And the tall, muscular Christopher stood by her side.

When I met them at the obstetrics and gynecology department, all I could do was stand there awkwardly.

Evelyn didn’t give me a chance to escape, so she raised her voice and questioned, “What
