Miranda asked, “Dr. Jefferson, why are you at the hospital?

Only then did Paul tear his gaze away from Sawyer. His eyes softened instantly when they landed on Miranda. “I…”

At that moment, Silas walked up to them, clutching his stomach. He interjected and answered for Paul, “He’s here to accompany me.”

Miranda’s gaze shifted to him, and she couldn’t help but be startled by his appearance. Dr. Quinton, what’s wrong? You don’t look well.”

“Ugh. I don’t know what I ate, but I’ve had an upset stomach since this morning. I took medicine, but it didn’t help at all. Paul insisted on dragging me to the hospital to get checked out for peace of mind.”

Miranda nodded. “It’s important to get

a proper check–up. It’s better to catch any underlying

issues earlier. It’ll save you more trouble in the long run.”

“Did you two coordinatè before this? You’re both saying exactly the same thing,” Silas exclaimed.

Miranda raised an eyebrow and turned to Paul. “Is that so?”

He met her gaze unflinchingly, with intense emotion swirling in his eyes.

Suddenly, Sawyer spoke up, “Miranda, we should get going…”

Miranda snapped back to reality and nodded. “Oh, alright. Dr. Jefferson, we’ll be leaving now.”

With that, she walked off with Sawyer.

Paul stood rooted to the spot, his eyes glued on their departing figures. The emotion in his gaze was unreadable.

“Paul? Paul!” Silas called.

Paul directed his attention to him. The lingering coldness in his gaze made Silas shiver as a chill ran down his spine.

“You…‘

“She said ‘we.”

“Huh?” Silas was confused. It took him a few seconds to get it. “Yeah, she did. So what? What else should she have said? You two? That wouldn’t be right either…”

Paul’s face was expressionless.

If she referred to Sawyer and herself as a collective noun, then what about him? What was he to her?

Only now did Paul realize that Miranda always addressed him as Dr. Jefferson“. She was polite and respectful but distantThere was no nt of Intimacy In her address. noveldrama

How did she address Sawyer?

Mr. Jensen? Or was itSawyer?

The more he thought about it, the darker his expression became. His gloomy mood lasted until he entered the consultation room with Silas,

The doctor scribbled a prescription after asking about Silas‘ symptoms. Then, he turned to Paul. “And you? What symptoms do you have?”

Paul answered, “I don’t have an upset stomach.”

“Huh? Your complexion doesn’t look great. I’d recommend a full–body checkup for you.

Paul was at a loss for words while Silas thought,” Seriously, could anyone just focus on me for once? Being unable to laugh right now is killing me!”

Struggling to suppress his laughter while dealing with his increasingly urgent stomachache was pure torture! It was an absolutely excruciating experience!

Meanwhile, Miranda followed Sawyer to the smaller pharmacy. The place was quite difficult to find. It was just a small room in the corner of the basement at the second inpatient building. There weren’t any signs or directions leading to it.

Once inside, Miranda finally realized why there weren’t any signs. This was a VIP–only dispensary. People who needed directions had no business being there, while those who qualified didn’t need the directions.

After asking the staff, she discovered that Fiona’s name was already on their special access list. She had always gotten her prescriptions filled here.

However, this was Miranda’s first time accompanying Fiona. No one had informed her of this detail, which was why she hadn’t found the place

The pharmacists inside recognized Sawyer and greeted him with smiles, “Is this your girlfriend, Sawyer? Dr. Hugh will be over the moon if he knows about this.”

“Oh, it’s a misunderstanding. We’re just friends…” he said.

One of the female physicians glanced at Miranda and lowered her voice, “A relationship usually blossoms from a longstanding friendship, you know?”
