Chapter 0932

The police arrived swiftly. Upon receiving the report, the hotel immediately sent staff to cooperate with the investigation.

First, they sealed off Paul’s room and collected air samples. Next, they proceeded to the surveillance room to retrieve surveillance footage, accompanied by the hotel manager.

The commotion in the hallway naturally attracted a crowd to see what was going on. Fortunately, the hotel staff were highly professional and quickly dispersed the unrelated onlookers.

However, the door of the room next to Paul’s never opened throughout the ordeal. Anyone would have at least taken a peek to satisfy their curiosity, wouldn’t they? Moreover, the situation involving a “friend“.

The more one tried to avoid suspicion, the guiltier they appeared.

Nonetheless, Elizabeth didn’t seem to realize this. In other words, she was too panicked to even consider that perspective.

Indeed, that turned out to be the case.

Elizabeth was pacing back and forth in her room like a cat on a hot tin roof. She was so anxious that she was sweating all over. Her facial muscles twitched uncontrollably, and her hands trembled non–stop.

She had felt uneasy ever since she knocked on Miranda’s door and returned to her own room.

Minutes had passed, but there was no sound from next door. It was as if Paul had vanished into thin air. Then, the police arrived.

When Elizabeth looked through the peephole and saw the uniformed officers, her legs turned to jelly, and she collapsed onto the floor.

Did someone call the police? Who called them?

Elizabeth tried to console herself that it might not be about this incident. However, the last sliver of hope in her heart was extinguished when she saw Paul walking out of Miranda’s room and talking to the police.

Paul actually called the police!

What should she do?

The police would trace it back to her…

Suddenly, her gaze landed on the phone lying on her bed. She quickly grabbed it. After hesitating for a few seconds, she dialed a number. “Hello…” novelbin

“Nothing? How is that possible?” The hotel manager was in disbelief. He shoved the security guards in the hotel surveillance room aside and began operating the computer himself.

However, five minutes later, he muttered in defeat, It’s really gone. That doesn’t make sense. All the surveillance cameras had undergone maintenance last month. How could this happen?” There was a young man with a degree in computer science among the police officers who came to gather evidence.

He was a tech expert and immediately pointed out the issue. “It’s not an issue with the cameras. The signal receiver was interfered with during this period, causing the footage to freeze and the surveillance cameras to fail.”

The hotel manager was drenched in sweat. “Then… What should we do?”

“How about this? Compile and copy all the footage from the time of incident, including those with interruptions or malfunctions, and hand it over to the police. Later, the technical team will attempt to repair the footage and restore it,” the officer suggested.

As for whether the recovery would be successful was another matter entirely.

The manager agreed to cooperate immediately.

“Malfunction?” Miranda was surprised upon hearing this result and turned to look at Paul. He looked calm, as if he had expected it.

The police collected their evidence and left. They would notify Paul later by phone as filing,a case depended on whether it met the criteria.

The hotel manager stayed behind to address the aftermath. “Dr. Jefferson, we deeply apologize for this incident. We’ve arranged a new room for you on the second floor. Here’s the key card.”

Paul accepted the card.

Inside her room, Elizabeth saw that the police had left through her peephole and let out a sigh of relief. She took her phone and dialed the number once more. “The police had left.”

A man’s voice chuckled and replied, “Why are you making such a big fuss out of nothing?” Elizabeth continued, “Are you sure they won’t find anything? I even knocked on the oor and had the hotel staff open his door with the spare key. The police are bound to suspect me! If it meets the criteria for filing a case, then I…”
