Chapter 310 Forcefully Stopping the Cruise Ship
Numerous guests flocked to the deck to ascertain the cause of the jerk. If the cruise ship had indeed collided with an iceberg or faced a similar calamity, the repercussions would be catastrophic.
There was a massive crowd on the deck. When the strong sea breeze blew, everyone shivered.
Draco and Kiran briskly walked to the deck. They looked to the sea and saw a dozen speedboats floating on it, blocking the ferry’s way, while more speedboats were coming in from all sides.
Counting the boats, they realized there were twenty to thirty of them.
Many guests started panicking and wondered if they were going up against pirates.
Although pirates seemed distant from modern life, they actually did exist. Pirates lingered near the deep sea region, keeping a lookout for cargo ships from which they could loot.
“Aren’t they just too bold!”
“Perhaps they’re not here to loot.”
Everyone tried to guess who these were. If they really were pirates trying to loot their ship, their nerves must be made from steel-what pirates would have had the audacity to stop a cruise ship when it was still within the country’s borders?
Besides, the cruise ship was heavily guarded.
Draco cried out in excitement at the sight before him. He patted Kiran’s shoulder. “Kiran, can you tell which gang they’re from?”
Kiran’s gaze never left the speedboats. He said faintly, “That’s fast.”
Draco was stunned. He looked at Kiran with surprise. “What’s that? You know them?”
Kiran glanced at him. “Didn’t I warn you before you took away that mute?”
Draco blinked. He was dumbfounded for several moments before he snapped back to his senses. “They can’t be here for that mute, can they?”
Kiran smiled and said nothing, but his expression spoke of everything. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Draco couldn’t resist clicking his tongue. “Good Lord. Did you kidnap a royal princess or something?”
Smiling, Kiran walked back in.
Draco followed him. He wasn’t telling the truth when he said he wasn’t afraid of death. He said that because he knew Kiran wouldn’t have kidnapped Josephine if he had been wary of the other party.
But from the looks of things, this matter seemed complicated.
Draco caught up with Kiran and lowered his voice as he asked, “Kiran, tell me the truth. Who’s that girl? Why did you bring her here?”
Kiran had already returned to the hall. He sat on the sofa and glanced at Josephine, lying drowsily on the sofa. Something flickered in his eyes, but he didn’t say anything.
Josephine couldn’t think straight anymore after Draco forced so much liquor on her. Her stomach lurched, and she had already thrown up multiple times.
Now, she felt as though the entire world was spinning around her.
She tried to sit up but kept falling back down, and no one even cared.
Draco watched her, his interest in her dissipating. Those people approached the ship in full fury and were obviously influential men by the way they had the nerve to stop the cruise ship.
Faust Graham, the person in charge of the cruise ship, walked out. He was a middle-aged man of mixed race. He wore a black short-sleeved shirt, displaying his tattoo-covered arms. Several menacing mercenaries followed him out. The moment he came out, the crowd backed. down and cleared a space for him on the deck.
The speedboats closed in on the cruise ship and eventually stopped just beside the ship.
Seth was the first to get on board the cruise ship. Instantly, several guns were aimed at him.
Seth seemed oblivious to them. He walked toward Faust and stopped three feet away from him.
Faust sized Seth up. Noticing the tuxedo Seth wore, suspicions rose in him. Nonetheless, he asked, “Sir, may I know what this is all about?”
Seth laughed and replied, “My apologies. I came too late and couldn’t board the cruise ship in time. This was the only way for me to reach it, and you are?”
“My name’s Faust. I’m the person in charge of this cruise ship. You should at least find out who owns this ship when you decide to forcefully stop it in such a way, shouldn’t you?”
“It doesn’t matter who this ship belongs to. We’re here to search for a person and will leave as soon as we find her. So we hope you’ll make an exception for us, Mr. Faust.”
Faust’s gaze lingered on Seth momentarily when he heard Seth was here to find someone.” Who is it you’re trying to find?”
Seth pulled a photo from his pocket. “Her.”
Faust took the photo and frowned after scrutinizing it for several moments. “Sorry, I haven’t seen her.”
“Then we’ll search on our own.” A voice rang out behind Seth. Everyone looked toward the direction of the sound.
Dressed in a trench coat, the man sauntered out from the shadows, his coat flapping in the sea
breeze.
He was tall and well-built, and his facial features were refined. When he walked out from the
shadows, his looks and temperament astounded many.
However, Faust frowned. He had been running his business on the ocean for many years, yet he had no impression of these two.
After Lewis came closer, Faust asked again, “Who are both of you actually?”
“No one special.” Lewis scanned his surroundings. It was full of people, and he was unable to distinguish one from another. He withdrew his gaze and looked at Faust. He was quite polite. We’re just here to look for someone. You don’t have to be so anxious, Mr. Faust.”
How could Faust not be anxious? He had never seen these two men, and they didn’t introduce themselves. If they were going to inspect his ship in the name of looking for a person, he wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences.
Faust pondered before he said, “I can help you find the person you’re here for, but please wait. It will be unpleasant if you startle the guests with so many of you wandering about the ship.”
Lewis mulled over it and nodded. “I’ll leave it to you, then.”
Faust was slightly relieved. He gestured to invite them in. “This way.”
He only allowed Lewis and Seth to enter. As for the men they brought, he had his subordinates
keep them out.
Lewis didn’t comment on this. He followed Faust into the cabin and into one of the rooms
where Faust instructed someone to serve them drinks and liquor.
“Can you introduce yourselves now that we’re alone?” asked Faust, sitting down.
Seth smiled and said, “I’m Seth Fairchild. This man here is the board chairman of Alvarez Corp. Have you heard of him, Mr. Faust?”
Faust ran the name through his head and nodded. “Are you from the Alvarez family in Elysium?”
Seth was surprised. “I didn’t expect you to know that.”
“Why wouldn’t I? The Alvarez Corp had made a name for itself in Sobella decades ago, even earlier than they did so locally.
Lewis’ eyelid twitched. He abruptly turned toward Faust. “Why do you say
so?”
Faust continued, “There used to be a corporation known as GL Enterprise, the biggest mercenary group in Sobella that monopolized the entire gray market there. Word had it that the higher-ups of that corporation disbanded, and one of them went by the surname of
Alvarez.”
Besides, Alvarez Corp literally appeared out of nowhere and rapidly expanded its business to all parts of the world. It rose to fame in no time. Those in the know speculated that Alvarez Corp could be GL Enterprise in the past.
“I see.” Seth glanced at Lewis beside him. “Not even I knew about this.”
Faust shook his head. “That’s what I heard from others, and I can’t say for sure that that’s the truth. Besides, no matter how great it used to be, it’s all in the past now after so many years.” He continued, “These are mere rumors. There’s no telling how true it is. But, of course, if Mr. Alvarez here can shed some light on this matter, that will be wonderful.”
