Chapter 287 Guardian Angel

After the montage of photos finished playing, more pictures of Sierra appeared on the screen. There were artistic photos of her and stills from her drama.

Josephine recognized her as the woman from earlier.

Her eyes flickered.

Sierra and relationship…

These two keywords kept echoing in her mind.

However, Seth had already changed the channel to a sci-fi series before she could make out her thoughts.

Josephine lowered her head again and stared at the ground. She didn’t think much about it.

She wouldn’t remember anything when she woke up the next day anyway.

Sometimes she didn’t know whether this sickness was a blessing or a curse.

In the late afternoon, Seth went out briefly and returned around eight or nine in the evening.

When he came back, he handed Josephine a box.

“Put this on your hand.”

Josephine opened the box, and inside laid a white wristwatch. However, there were no hands. or timers on it. The screen displayed the ceiling and her own face.

Seth explained to her, “This is a wearable camera. When you wear it on your hand, it can capture everything that happens throughout the day. That way, you won’t have to flip through your notebook every single day.”

Josephine was momentarily stunned. She retrieved the wristwatch from the box and examined it in her hands. The camera could capture a 360-degree view. It could record everything around her, including herself.

Yet just as she was about to put it on, a hand suddenly appeared and snatched the wristwatch

away.

Josephine looked up instinctively and realized Lewis was standing beside her, although she wasn’t sure when he had arrived.

Lewis played with the watch in his hand, inspected it for a while, and then looked up at Seth. He extended his hand and said, “Give it to me.”

Seth feigned innocence and shrugged. “What are you talking about?”

“The receiver.”

Seth shrugged again. “What receiver?”

Lewis didn’t bother arguing with him. He stared straight at him, indicating that he wouldn’t give up until Seth handed it over.

Sighing, Seth smiled helplessly and reached into his pocket. He then pulled out a palm-sized black screen and tossed it to Lewis.

Lewis caught the screen, checked it to ensure it worked fine, and tossed the wristwatch back to Josephine.

Josephine caught the wristwatch and looked at the two. Seeing that neither of them spoke, she silently put the watch on her wrist.

“It’s time to sleep,” Lewis said before turning around and heading upstairs.

Josephine quickly followed suit, glancing at the watch on her wrist. She couldn’t help but think of the videos on her phone, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

However, Lewis didn’t enter the bedroom tonight. Lying in bed for a while, Josephine waited until she was sure he wouldn’t come in before closing her eyes and falling into a deep sleep.

The next day, just as dawn arrived, Josephine was abruptly woken up by a pair of cold hands.

Dazed, she sat up in bed, her eyes still half-open, and was forcefully given a glass of water and a pill.

Lewis made her take the pill and pulled her downstairs. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

When Josephine snapped to her senses, they were already at the airport.

Bewildered, she followed Lewis and went through the security check before boarding the plane. She then fell asleep on the plane.

During the flight, she had a long dream.

It felt like she was dreaming about her parents, but Josephine couldn’t see their faces clearly. She tried desperately to see them and get a clear image of what her parents looked like, yet no matter how hard she tried, their faces remained blurry.

She could only hear them talking and laughing.

Josephine lay on her mother’s lap, and her mother’s scent filled the air. The fragrance smelled of gardenias. Her mother’s embrace was warm, and she could sense the love emanating from

1.

They loved her dearly.

Her father would lift her toward the sky, pretending she was flying on an airplane, and she would even ride on his neck, feeling the wind brushing against her cheeks as he ran. It felt so real, and she felt so happy.

The dream was joyful. Josephine saw a blissful and complete family she had yearned for

twenty years.

However, dreams were just dreams. Even in the dream, Josephine felt like an outsider. She gazed upon that happy family with longing and envy.

Everything beautiful in the dream was blurry, but memories of the past twenty years she spent in the Alavarez family remained vivid and deeply ingrained in her mind.

Living under the Alvarez family’s roof, she was disregarded and mistreated. People called her an orphan and an illegitimate child for many years.

The years in the Alvarez family were like a living hell. Those people kept their ugly faces. hidden in the dark like lurking specters.

Only Lewis shone in the darkness. He wore a white shirt and shone brightly in the dark.

Lewis was like a shelter amid a raging storm to Josephine. She could only seek refuge with him. without hesitation in the pouring rain.

He was her lifesaver and guardian angel for many years.

The dream played out in Josephine’s mind. She felt a surreal mix of happiness and sadness, which turned her world upside down.

Josephine’s world was turned upside down in her dream. Surrounded by a cacophony of voices, she couldn’t make out whether they were cursing at her or calling her name.

The voices melded into a disorienting blur, sending shivers down Josephine’s spine. It felt as though she stood on the precipice of hell, with ghostly whispers beckoning her to join their haunting realm.

Josephine kept retreating, trying to escape from the voices. She ran as fast as she could.

“Josephine.”

“Josephine?”

Amidst the cacophony of chaotic noises, a clear voice emerged like a divine revelation. It sliced through the clamor, pierced the veil of darkness, and resounded in her ears.

Josephine’s feet abruptly lost their footing, as if an invisible force lifted her off the ground, leaving her suspended in mid-air.

She snapped her eyes open and found herself staring into a pair of intense, pitch-black eyes.

Josephine stared at the face before her, and the surrounding voices gradually became clear. It was the voices of the passengers.

The fear and panic from her dream still lingered in her heart. Her eyelashes trembled as tears welled up and streamed down her cheeks.

Lewis lifted his hand and gently wiped away the tears from her face. His fingertips felt cold, and it brought Josephine back to her senses.

“Did you have a nightmare?”

Josephine stared at him blankly. After a moment, she heard Seth’s voice from above,”

Everyone’s gone, but you’re still cuddling.”

Josephine was momentarily stunned. She looked up and realized she had fallen asleep in Lewis ‘arms. Her tears had wet his shirt.

Seth placed his arm on Lewis’ seat while holding his bag, wearing a smile that was not quite a smile as he observed the two of them. Several flight attendants in the aisle beside them also watched them while smiling.

Josephine felt her cheeks burning. She quickly stood up from her seat.

Remaining composed, Lewis ignored Seth and the flight attendants, who were enjoying the spectacle. He reached for his sunglasses, perched on the front collar of his shirt, and put them on. Then he grabbed the jacket from Josephine’s seat and tucked his hands into his pockets. before walking out.

“You don’t want your baggage?” Seth frowned, his mouth curling into a smirk as he took down the items from the overhead compartment. His hands were full.

He even suspected that Lewis had called him only to be his laborer.

Lewis pulled Josephine along and disembarked from the plane before heading towards the exit.

Upon reaching the airport terminal, Josephine could feel that Hardington’s temperature was much higher than Elysium’s. She was only wearing a sweater but could already feel some heat.

Holding Josephine’s hand in one hand and her jacket in the other, Lewis led her to the arrival.

gate.

“Chairman Alvarez!” A clear and resonant shout pierced through the bustling crowd.
