Chapter 44 Late remorse
The slave’s eyes widened and she looked with horror at the repentant master in front of her.
“The rest I also buried there… And you, my dear, I really wanted to bury you with them… I even chose a special variety of roses, they are as delicate as your body…”
“You wanted to bury me, Master? But why?” She asked in a trembling voice. “You said that you paid a lot of money for me…”
“You do not understand! It’s not about the money!” Alexander whispered in the same strange voice, with a confused tongue. “All of you, just dummies, your body will quickly fall into disrepair and you will not be able to satisfy me! No one can!”
Diana was frightened with horror and this horror froze in her eyes.
“Sir, I tried to do my best to please you…”
“Or maybe I wanted to save you? Didn’t think that I could really help you clear through the pain and move on to a new world?” He tried to laugh, but instead of that he again began to mercilessly twist.
“I don’t believe it anymore!” Diana whispered quietly, but so that Alexander did not hear anything. She understood that he was mocking her and knew perfectly well what she had been taught and just played along with her.
The thought of this made her sick and a wave of hatred swept over her. She remembered how he flogged her, ‘helping’ to cleanse and find a soul, and she, like a naive fool, believed him and endured all these humiliations, and also thanked him.
“If it were not for Oleg, I would have continued to think that the owner was helping me!” Diana thought bitterly, swallowing her tears.
“If I survive, then I will definitely bring my idea to the end.” Alexander laughed again. “Call for help, you are my slave, you must save me! Keep screaming!” The dying sadist coughed barely audibly.
Diana turned her face away and closed her eyes, trying not to listen to what he was saying.
“Are you afraid of me?” Alexander wheezed again, even quieter. “I promise I will try not to offend you anymore, please help me… I can’t scream, I feel bad… Do you want me to marry you? Seriously, I wanted to marry you…!”
“You wanted to bury me!” Diana almost screamed, turning her head to him again, feeling the vertebrae stiffened from immobility crunching in her back and neck.
“You don’t understand… Your body… You would have to wait a long time for it to let you go! I want to help you! I helped many…” Alexander whispered barely audibly, closing his eyes. His lips continued to whisper something, but Diana could no longer make out the words. And she didn’t really want to listen to all the nonsense that poured out of his mouth. Now all she wanted was for him to shut up as soon as possible.
“He wanted to bury me!” Flashed through her head and Diana shook her whole body, again realizing this thought. The frankness of the dying owner shook her to the depths of her soul and made her think. If not for this accident today, then she would not have known what he planned to do with her.
“If he survives, then I need to run from him, without looking back! I must tell Oleg what his father did!” Thought a frightened and dumbfounded Diana.
Oleg told her that there are a number of laws in the country where people are imprisoned for trying to kill another person, even if it is a woman. He told her a lot of things that made her hair stand on end, for example, if a woman did not want to have sex with her owner, then he could be punished for harassment. It was forbidden to beat women. She did not even dare to dream of such a society! She so wanted to see everything with her own eyes, to break out of this invented world for her and look at ordinary people.
For a long time Alexander carried on some nonsense about his sins and his worldview, about all his secrets that no one but him should have known.
Why was he telling all this to Diana? She did not know… She already had enough confusion in her head to still plunge into the inner world of a sadistic pervert, who, among other things, turned out to be also a maniac killer. She tried not to think about what he was telling her in a barely audible dying voice and to detach herself from what was happening.
Miroslava and the other servants did not dare to enter Diana’s room, waiting for Alexander to leave it himself, and as a result, the owner lay until the morning with a broken head and unconscious, having lost a lot of blood.
Diana couldn’t sleep that night. Her whole body ached from previous beatings and the uncomfortable posture. She was terribly cold and cried softly, expecting that Oleg would remember about her and come to the rescue.
Closer to dinner, there was a knock on the door and Diana heard the voice of one of the twins outside the door:
“Father, are you there? Are you all right?”
Without waiting for an answer, he began banging on the door again. Then the phone rang again. Alexander was silent and Diana did not speak either.
Footsteps were heard outside the door and, after a few minutes, the door was kicked out. Michael’s scream scattered across the room, he stepped back and looked with horror at his father lying in a pool of blood.
The guard called an ambulance. Alexander turned out to be alive, but in a deep ‘blackout’. They took him away, and Michael, biting his fist to contain his emotions, quickly left the room. The second twin approached Diana and began to free her from the bonds.
“Where is Oleg?” Asked Diana to Peter.
“Oleg is in the hospital, he has an exacerbation. An ulcer.” Peter answered shortly, helping her to get up and handing her a robe.
Diana in a bent state, somehow got to the bed and plopped down on it exhausted. The whole body ached terribly after the cold and hard chair, but in her soul, somewhere deeply, deeply, a light of hope lit up. And this light warmed her from the inside and promised that her life would now change for the better.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
