Chapter 22 Test of Lies
Hailey’s Point of View
I woke up early because I was excited about the test that the old hermit would give us.
I arranged myself first before going down.
As I descended, I saw the old hermit with them, Raze and Demon.
“Shall we start now?” I asked eagerly.
“Eat first.” Demon said.
“Aren’t you going to eat?” I asked.
“We’re done.” They both said.
I sat down at the table and hurried to eat.
“Just take it easy so you don’t choke.” Raze says.
“I’m done.” I said.
“The greedy eat but do not grow tall.” Demon says softly enough for me to hear.
“Are you saying something?” I asked him.
“You have ears, don’t you? So you heard what I said? ” He answered philosophically.
“That’s enough. The test is about to begin. ” The old hermit stopped us.
We went out of the house, and the monsters were no longer here. But there were traces of blood left outside the barrier.
“Hailey, come over to me.” The old hermit said.
So I approached him.
He motioned for me to look at his hand.
He opened his hand and there were small papers rolled up.
“What will I do with that?” I wondered.
“You pick three.” He commands.
So, as he said, I chose three.
I was about to open it but he spoke.
“Give me the three rolled papers of your choice.” So I gave it to him.
He read what was written on the rolled paper, “Agatha Blaire.”
Looking behind him, I saw Agatha.
He was reading the second sheet of rolled paper, “Nadia Flaire.”
“Alejandra Azaleah.” He was reading the last paper.
After he said those names, I saw behind him my three friends.
“Why are my friends here?” I asked.
“I’ll give you the first test.” He says.
“There’s a test called LIL. The first L means test of lies, and that’s what I’ll give you. ” He explains.
“What is the rule of the test?”
“The rule is simple. You finish the test without cheating.” He said it softly, so I just nodded.
“The test will begin now.” He declared.
When he waved his cane, the atmosphere changed.
Raze and Demon disappeared, and the old hermit is not here anymore. My three friends are also gone. I tried to find them, but they are not here.
I ended up in a forest with no people.
“Demon, where are you?” I shouted, but no one answered.
Until I heard a shout. So I followed where the scream was coming from.
I saw Alejandra lying on the ground while Nadia and Agatha stood.
I immediately ran towards them.
“Nadia and Agatha, who stabbed her?” I asked.
They pointed at each other.
“Know the truth. Punish the liar.” I heard the old hermit say that.
When I touched Alejandra’s wrist, it stopped throbbing.
I noticed Alejandra was holding a necklace.
“Where did I see it?” I asked myself.
“I remember. You see, Agatha already owns the necklace. You killed Alejandra.” I said, but she shook her head.
“I didn’t kill her.” She denies.
“This necklace is yours, so you killed her.” I insisted.
“How can you say those words? I’m your friend. I can’t do that. ” Agatha says.
“But this necklace is yours.” Nadia says.
“Don’t blame me for something I didn’t do.” Agatha insisted.
I noticed the scratch on Nadia’s neck.
“Nadia, do you really think you can fool me?” I said and smirked.
“What do you mean?” She asked.
“You’re the liar. You’re the murderer. ” I blamed her.
“That necklace belongs to Agatha, so she killed Alejandra.” She defended herself.
“I just did that to make you fall into the trap I set. You started the game, but I finished it.”
“I didn’t kill Alejandra.” Nadia said.
“I saw this necklace that Alejandra was holding, but she didn’t hold it tightly.”
“Let’s say she’s dead, so she can’t hold it tightly anymore.” But her body is still hot, so the crime has not been a few minutes when you do it. While on her back, there is a necklace that you own. She put it on her back, so you can’t see that and be comfortable. ” I explained.
“Liar.” I added.
After the explanation, everything went back to normal.
“Good. You passed the first test. ” The old hermit greeted me.
Demon and Raze also applauded.
“The test I gave you has to do with what happens next in your life.” He told me.
“Beware of people who lie. They may be showing you an angel face, but behind it is hidden a demon that wants to kill you. ” He warned me.
I just nodded at him.
“What’s the next test?” Demon asked.
Even before the old hermit could speak, Demon’s watch rang.
When he pressed it, we all saw Headmaster Dracilus.
“Demon, hurry up. Drake’s illness is getting worse. ” Headmaster Dracilus says.
“We’ve found the old hermit.” Demon says deeply.
“But he doesn’t want to come with us.” Demon continued.
“I want to talk to him.” Headmaster Dracilus insisted.
The Demon was about to hand over the watch, but the old hermit used magic, so the connection was lost. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Why did you do that?” Demon asked.
“It’s not time for him to see me.” He said calmly.
“When’s the right time? When Drake dies? ”
“Demon!” I exclaimed angrily.
“You have no heart!” Demon shouted.
“Stop that demon.” I stopped him.
“Don’t you-” I cut him off.
“He’s got a feeling. He has a heart. You don’t know what really happened, so don’t say hurtful words to him. ” I calmed him down.
I noticed that Demon’s face was gradually softening because of what I said.
“I’m sorry.” Demon says.
The old hermit came in, so I followed him.
“Please forgive Demon. He didn’t mean to say those words. ” I say.
“I understand him. I’m fine. Don’t worry. ” He sighed.
I went out of the house to talk to Demon.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” I started.
He looked directly at me. He looks calmer now than before.
“I know that you want to help Drake. The old hermit is the grandfather of Drake and Headmaster Dracilus. ” I told him.
“How?” He asked in disbelief.
