Vampire Lover

Chapter 6

The black Maybach cruised down a quiet street, a beautiful place with fresh air. It was like one would absolutely be in a good mood just looking at this view.

Avril got out of the car. She raised her head and closed her eyes. She sniffed in the fresh air, enjoying the faint scent of autumn's breeze. She felt more relaxed now, as if the problems constricting her heart had vastly dissipated.

The first thing that caught her attention was a European-styled villa with white walls and a red-tiled roof. There was a fence around a small yard. The yard was filled with flowers and plants, including some wild roses, chamomile flowers, China Roses, and other plants. Although the flowers had withered in the late autumn, their wilted appearance still gave off a sense of desolate beauty.

Avril turned around to look at Haider. His facial features were so perfect, as if he was a gift from God. His perfection was so breathtaking that she could only use the word 'Sinful' to describe him.

"Is this the new house you prepared?" Her voice was sweet, like taking a bite of a fresh juicy peach.

Haider chuckled as he nodded gently. "I'll show you around."

Avril hesitated. "But this is the house you prepared for someone else. Isn't it inappropriate for me to go in just like that?"Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"What does she mean by that?" Haider was perplexed.

He stopped in his tracks and his smile froze. "Where did the idea come from?"

"Wasn't it? Did I make a wrong guess?" Avril thought to herself.

She smiled awkwardly. "I'm sorry. I was just making a wild guess."

"Is that so?" He thought.

After hearing this, the man raised his eyebrows and pushed the door of the yard open. His legs looked slim and long in slacks, and she caught a glimpse of the smooth lines of his thigh muscles as he walked. "This is the place my grandmother prepared for her future granddaughter-in-law. She's been waiting for me to open the door to this house for a long time."

Haider stopped at the door of the villa. He turned around to look at Avril, who was standing in the yard, still confused. "I'm sure my grandmother would like you very much," Haider said with a gentle tone. Avril stood still awkwardly, not saying a word.

How should she answer? Would it be too polite to say thank you?

The phone in her backpack suddenly rang. Avril felt that the ringtone sounded like an Angel's voice singing, saving her from the awkward moment. She raised her head and flashed an apologetic smile at Haider. She turned around and walked towards the fence to answer the call. "Yes, Lina?"

"Hey, beautiful. Why couldn't my call get through? I was so worried!" Lina Lausanne's loud and clear voice penetrated through the phone. Avril discreetly moved the phone away from her ear. "Maybe it's the bad reception. What's the matter?"

"Hurry up and come to work! The new president will be taking office this afternoon, and every department is doing a headcount now!"

"What?" Avril screamed in shock. "Why didn't anyone tell me about this when I was applying for a leave yesterday?"

"I've only received the notice this morning," Lina replied. "The whole company is in a hustle now! Come back to work now! Bye."

Avril put away her phone and walked up to Haider. "Um, I have something urgent to attend to right now. I have to rush back to the company."

"Well, I also have something to deal with. I'll take you back to your office." Haider politely walked in front of her while keeping a suitable distance. Avril stared at his tall figure and she felt a sudden surge of warmth in her.

His words made her feel at ease. It did not seem like he was trying hard to please anyone.

He made her feel that he respected her a lot.

Avril grinned and started walking to keep up with his pace.

Sitting in the car while heading back to the office, Avril finally felt a bit relaxed. She looked at the luxurious car and asked, "Is this your car?"

"He's still such a young man. How could he afford an expensive Maybach? Perhaps he is a successful young man, or else his family must be very rich." She thought.

"No," Haider leaned lazily on the seat, one of his long legs was resting on the other. He looked like a noble gentleman who had just woken up from his afternoon nap. "This car belongs to the company. I just borrowed it." Haider winked cheekily at Avril.

Avril's jaw dropped in shock at his mischievousness. Her eyes went wide as she withdrew her gaze.

He actually dared to use a company car for private use. Wasn't he too bold? Wouldn't the boss of his company go after him for this?
