Chapter 9 Pawnshop Manager
In Sett's excitement, he started examining the other notebooks and cards inside the suitcase.
To his surprise, he found a driver's license! And all of the information and appearances came from him.
"Seriously, how is this possible?" Sett murmured, literally dumbfounded by this discovery.
He didn't stop there, as he started examining the other cards, and that's when he became speechless.
‘How should I say this? This is too much"
Sett reflected as he examined the important cards in his hand, which included a military card with the large word "Arm-force of the United States" and others from various countries. If he could spell it in one phrase, then that would be "amazing!"
Sett decided to ask Grandpa Mark about how he made these essential cards.
But why is there no debit card or credit card? At least Grandpa Mark shouldn't forget about the money.
Although these cards are important.
‘On second thought, Grandpa Mark never lacked money.Maybe he thought these blue diamonds would suffice...He was right, of course, yet he doesn't go to the norm that normal people needed cash"
Sett couldn't help but sigh in dismay, but he instantly recovered.
"It looks like getting rich overnight is not impossible anymore.Ahem, I shouldn't be too proud of myself."
The next day, early in the morning, after having his breakfast, Sett bid farewell to his sister and boarded a cab to head toward the City Center.
He was planning to find a jewelry store or a pawn shop to sell some of the precious stones. It didn't take long before the cab stopped at a pawn shop entrance.
Sett felt weird looking at the opposite side of the pawnshop.
"Isn't that the Laurel family jewelry store?"
Sett said to himself, as he recognized the place.
When he was still the young master of the Crossword family, Sheila had asked him to pick her up at this place, and that's when he realized that the Jewelry store in front of the pawnshop was the family business of the Laurel family.
He was unsure if he should go there.
What if he saw his wife, Sheila? Wouldn't she be mad at him? Perhaps he should just find another shop.
"Whatever, Grandfather's birthday is at noon, and I won't have enough time to prepare if I go to another shop, so I should just go there.
It does really matter if I meet my wife there.
After all, I'm still her husband and I'm confident that she still had feelings for me.She can't just attack me in front of the shop, even if she hates me."
Sett tried to convince himself.
Moments later, he entered the pawnshop without hindrance.
"Looks like my wife isn't in the other shop."
As he was saying that, it was then that he hit a wall.He felt nervous as he saw distinguished -looking customers entering the pawnshop. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Sett directly headed toward a female employee.
"Hello, Miss, I want to pawn some rocks, um, I mean precious rocks."
To be more convincing Sett put on a solemn expression as he spoke.
The female employee raised her eyebrows as she glanced at Sett in the corner of her eyes.
Looking at how shabby Sett's clothes were, she scuffed at him.
"Ah, rock? Are you retarded? Do you think our shop is buying a brike?"
The female employee rolled her eyes in annoyance at this unknown customer who claimed to have something valuable to pawn.
"It's not valuable and you are insisting on pawning it?...Fine, but you'll have to wait in that corner.I have a more distinguished guest."
‘What an ignorant bumpkin" the female employee smirked in thought.
No matter how she looked at the man from head to toe, he was wearing a plain T-shirt and pants, an item that could be bought in any corner. She couldn't see anything noteworthy about him.She marveled why a poor man like him was even here in the first place.
Sett was irritated by the female employee's dismissive attitude.
It was a total difference when she was all smiles when she was interacting with a rich-looking customer. He was slighted.
Sett called out to her to express his dissatisfaction.
But he was stopped by another employee.
"It's like this, sir; we don't entertain fake and stolen goods."
It was another female employee that was sneering at him.
This female employee was bloody rude! How the h*ck did they even come to the conclusion that his blue diamonds were fake when he hadn't shown them? Are they magicians or fortune tellers? Sett frowned as he saw another employee with poor manners toward him; it was getting on his nerves.
He tried to ask the other female employees, but they ignored him and even avoided him like he was some kind of plague.
Not a single one was willing to entertain him.
How was he supposed to pawn his blue diamonds? Sett was standing in the middle of the lobby. He felt like an idiot, and his options were running out.
Should he make a scene? He considered shouting.
That way, this insensitive employee answers him.
"Step aside."
"Dim wit, you're blocking the way.If you aren't pawning anything, you better get out of the way."
A rich-looking couple was sneering at Sett, while the woman who looked like she was in her thirties had the more vicious mouth.
It was the total opposite of her approachable appearance.
How wrong he was...
Heh, did they really think they were the only ones who had a temper?
"I want to see your manager.Call your manager!"
Sett was simmering inside.
"What's the commotion?"
A woman in an elegant dress strides toward Sett while raising an eyebrow.
Sett didn't want to create a scene, but because of the urgency of the matter, he was left with no choice.
The female employee came forward and whispered something in the manager's ears, which made her eyebrows flare.
She scrutinizes Sett up and down.
"With all due respect, sir, we don't deal with stolen goods, so I would like to ask you to leave, security!"
Although the manager maintained her professional etiquette towards the customer, her discernment was world-class.She didn't even come forward to hear what he had to say.
Sett had enough of their nonsense.
"Does this describe how you do business with the customer? You didn't even properly investigate what happened!"
Upon hearing that, the pawnshop manager became silent.
"Fair enough, I'll give you a chance.Show me the goods."
Finally, his last-ditch attempt managed to get through to the thick -headed manager.
Sett let out a breath as he put a couple of blue diamonds on the table.
Suddenly, the couple and the shoppers on the sidelines burst into laughter as they saw the small rocks Sett had put on the glass table.
"This is so funny. For a second there, I thought it was a sapphire, but it turns out it's merely a common rock! Tsk."
A collector who has some background in spotting coins shook his head. He initially believed the chubby guy wouldn't joke around, but unfortunately, he did.
"There's clearly something wrong with his head."
Different from the earlier contempt that the female manager had shown, her expression now was dead serious as she kept examining the coin while frowning.
"Manager, Jasmine, it's merely a roadside rock. Why don't you just toss it away? I have a necklace here I want to pawn from my late grandmother."
"Don't bother with it, Ms.Jasmine.My husband's jewelry necklace is more valuable."
The couple confidently spoke.
They knew that Ms.Jasmine would stop concerning herself with a fake stone and not waste her time on some random pig. They waited for Ms.
Jasmine to call their name, but they didn't hear any words from her.
Suddenly, a female shriek sounded, as Ms.Jasmine couldn't believe what she had seen.
"How could this be? It's different from the other diamonds that lack purity." Ms.Jasmine couldn't believe what she was witnessing.
"Ms.Jasmine, I told you this pig is lying."
The snobbish female employee sneered at Sett.
"What do you have to say for yourself, pig? Ms.Jasmine already told you that you're so-called diamond lacks purity. It means it's fake!"
The snobbish female employee continued to ridicule Sett, yelling and pointing at his nose, not realizing that she had just twisted what Ms.
Jasmine had said.
On her side, the manager's face was turning purple while gnashing her teeth, and even the other employee had sensed something was terribly wrong.
"Shut up!""
When Ms.Jasmine lashed out at her, she was holding herself back so as not to choke her female employee.
