Chapter 6 Causing Trouble
At this time, Ms. Scarlett handed the camera directly to Sett's palm. He turned on the video recording. Sett's mind turned blank as he saw a white-bearded man gradually stripping his tuxedo with his bare hands, revealing his extremely macular back to the point of being god-like!
Sett raised his brows. Why the h*ck, would this guy suddenly stripping?
"Mr. Crow, he is your grandfather, Mark Crow." Ms. Scarlett stated calmly.
"You mean that's him? For real? I thought he was old. Seriously." Sett was puzzled.
Ms. Scarlett slightly raised the edge of her lips. "Indeed, the president is old. I think he was eighty years old when this video was taken."
"What!" Sett was awestruck. Was that even the physique of a fre*cking eighty-year-old? Wouldn't that put the bodybuilders to shame? His grandpa could even win the Mr. Olympia award! Anyways, it was undeniable they have somewhat similar faces.
Just then, Sett noticed the birthmark on the back of his grandfather Mark, which was in the shape of a three-legged crow. Instantly, his expression stiffened.
"Looks like you've finally realized it, Mr. Crow." Ms. Scarlett smirked, as she slowly paced behind Sett. "You see, only the true blood of the Crow family had the birthmark of a Crow."
Sett flinched as Ms. Scarlett's cold finger touched the surface of his skin as she lifted his shirt, revealing a birthmark of a Crow the same as Sett's grandfather. She uttered. "Beautiful.."
"What are you doing?!" Sett hastily rolled back his shirt while feeling ashamed. To him, the ugly birthmark on his back was nothing to be proud of! Honestly, it even triggered his painful childhood
memories of being ridiculed by his cousins. Moreover, his wife would complain about how ghastly it looked.
"Mr. Crow, what's there to be ashamed of?" Ms. Scarlett gently whispered while she deliberately lifted Sett's chin. Her intense eyes gaze deeply into Sett's eyes. "Listen, do not try to fit in with the opinion of others when you were born to stand out!"
Sett became silent while Ms. Scarlett eventually returned to her seat elegantly, but not before passing him the phone.
Grandpa Mark's voice sounded again. "Grandson, do you believe me now?"
"Yes, but what about my parents? Where are they?"
"I'm sorry grandson... Your parents." His grandfather's amicable voice paused as if to evoke the past." Their, last wish before they passed away was to hide you from the eyes of the public, and it was the right decision. The Crow family is revered by all; similarly, our enemies are countless, and your father does not want you to go through that, so I understand his decision... There were just too many assassination attempts on you, as the heir of the Crow family." Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Sett listened intently. Sett kept quiet. Apart from a slight pang in his heart, he didn't know how to feel that his biological parents had long since left the earth. Maybe it was because his emotional attachment to his real parents wasn't that great because of their absence?
"...It isn't important anymore. For the last fifteen years, I've been looking for your trace. How thankful I am when I found your whereabouts." It was at this moment that the old man's voice suddenly turned grim and deadly serious.
"The Crossword family has mistreated you for years. They ought to be punished! How dare that garbage of a second-rate family harm a descendant of the Crow family? I'll ask someone to thoroughly
destroy that insolent family!" The old man roared until he started coughing up blood.
Sett was speechless. "Hey old man, you can't be that excessive. It may be true that they kept mocking and scolding me, but they did help me. If it weren't for the Crossword family, how would I survive then?"
"Don't keep calling me "old man"; instead, call me "Grandpa Mark!" But I guess you were right, grandson, but regardless, they have to be punished!"
The old man's change of mind was as fast as lightning, indeed.
'What a stubborn old man.... They become hard-headed the older they get..' Sett let out an exasperated breath.
Just then, Grandpa Mark started coughing violently into the phone, seconds after the phone turned off. Sett was at a loss for words. He'd wanted to ask his grandfather, Mark, if he could visit his parent's grave and pay his respects. "Ms. Scarlett, should I call Grandpa Mark back? I need to ask him something."
"Before I answered your question." Ms. Scarlett silently removed the tequila from a small compartment, poured it into the elegant glass, and presented it to Sett.
"Please drink, Mr. Crow."
"I-I don't drink..." Truthfully, Sett was a bad drinker, so when his friends offered him a glass, he would quickly decline. Ms. Scarlett was pleasantly surprised. Then, there was a slight disappointment in Ms. Scarlett's eyes that she quickly hid.
"That's too bad then... Mr. Crow, I hate to break it to you, but we can't call the president. He'd only call you if he had something in mind."
"...." Although he had numerous questions to ask about the old man. He decided to save it for their next meeting.
Suddenly, Sett heard a ringing. At first, he thought it was Ms. Scarlett's phone. Ring! Ring! Sett hurriedly took his phone and saw the caller's name.
He was stunned, as the one calling him was none other than his younger sister! He hastily answered the call.
A panicked voice could be heard on the other side of the phone. "Brother, quickly come home! We are in trouble! Aunt Claire's men are here again. They are planning to sell our house! They're forcing their way inside the mansion. Oh no! They broke mom's favorite vase!"
