Passion 98
When Yvette recovered, Xavier was already silent. She leaned over and touched his forehead. It was now burning up even more. Yvette got up to go and get the first aid kit.
It was still in its original spot, but all the medicine in it had expired. Xavier hadn't instructed anyone to replenish it.
Yvette had no choice but to get some ice from the fridge and wrap it in a cloth so that she could bring his temperature down.
After that, she ordered some medicine online and got them to deliver it immediately
When she first tried to feed him his medicine, Xavier refused to open his mouth. Yvette had no choice but to add some honey to the medicine before she finally managed to pour it down his throat.
No one who had seen how ruthless he was at work would have expected him to have a sweet tooth. Yvette wanted to put him back on the sofa, but he was too heavy, and she did not have much strength. She could only let him lie on the floor.
She turned down the air-conditioning in the living room and pulled a thin blanket over him. After that, she was so tired that she fell asleep, leaning against the sofa.
When the glow of the sunset illuminated his face, Xavier opened his eyes and realized that he was lying on the floor. He rubbed his head and got up. Then he saw Yvette sprawled over the sofa beside him, fas asleep.
He was startled for a moment. Then he looked down at the blanket that was covering him, the wet towel next to him, and the pile of medicine.
Xavier gently moved the blanket aside, and when he got up, a wave of dizziness assailed him.
When had he gotten so sick?
"You're finally awake." Yvette woke up when she heard the noise.
Seeing that Xavier was fully awake and did not seem to be too sick, she got straight to the point.
"Since I took care of you today, let Kiki go. She did it all for me. I apologize to your girlfriend on her behalf. I'm sorry."
Xavier had just woken up and was still feeling groggy. He didn't know what she was talking about. Hadn't she come here for the child?Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Kiki?"
Yvette explained. "My friend Kiki was the one who exposed Daphne's plagiarism online. I'm very sorry that she offended your girlfriend Daphne, but please be merciful. I'll get rid of the article." Xavier finally remembered that Daphne had called him this morning to ask for help.
"If that's not enough, I can make a public apology Yvette's throat tightened when she saw that Xavier had remained silent.
"I'm not apologizing because she slandered her. I'm doing it because of your influence. If you're unwilling to be lenient, it's alright as long as you have a clear conscience." She walked out, trying to think of another plan.
Xavier tried to endure how dizzy he felt, and he grabbed her wrist. "When did I say that I won't help you?"
Yvette felt a burning in her throat. She looked up at him in silence. Xavier felt as if he was about to explode with anger.
"I didn't know that she was your friend. I'll contact the legal department." He gripped Yvette's hand tightly. "Is that why you came here?"
Yvette was confused. Why else would she have come here? If it weren't for Kiki, she wouldn't have come here at all.
Xavier laughed self-deprecatingly. He had thought that Yvette had discovered her conscience and had come here after finding out about the child. He thought she had stayed to take care of him because he was sick.
He hadn't expected it to be for an outsider. Yvette felt uneasy under his unrelenting stare.
"Please contact the legal department. I'm going to leave." She pulled her hand away and got ready to leave.
Xavier suddenly said, "Is this how you ask people for favors?"
