Passion 30
Xavier had seen Yvette's medical records from four years ago. He knew that she had suffered from severe depression, and he had tried to understand the disorder before.
Indeed, it could cause the deterioration of memory, but there was no evidence that the patient could forget an entire person!
They had known each other for over a decade!
When Xavier said nothing, Yvette asked, "Are you one of the people who'd hu me before? If you're not, then why don't I
remember you?"
Those words felt like a stab at Xavier. His voice was cold as he said, "You must be overthinking things, Ms. Snyder. We were just ships that passed through the night." Xavier had thought it through now. Since Yvette wanted to pretend, he would let her. After all, he had never thought of them as husband and wife to begin with. Before Yvette left, Xavier had someone sign the partnership contract with her. When he returned to his office, he began to smoke cigarette after cigarette again. He kept thinking about Yvette's words. "Are you one of the people who'd hurt me before? If you're not, then why don't I remember you?"
He felt like there was a wad of cotton lodged in his chest. He felt suffocated and uncomfortable.
When Mark walked in, the entire room was already filled
with cigarette smoke. Ever since Yvette had disappeared four years ago, Xavier had started to smoke excessively. Why was he still like this even though Yvette had come back?
Xavier looked at Mark. "I don't care how you do it, but I have to know what happened to Yvette in the past four years!" Mark was shocked. "Mr. Lane, I have already sent someone to investigate, but he didn't manage to find out any information. All information about her life abroad is a top secret."
"Then, use other forces overseas to find out!"
Xavier's words left Mark dumbstruck once again. He knew better than anyone what "other forces" entailed.
Besides using it to seize the position as head of the Lane family, Xavier had never used it before.
Now, he was planning to use it because of Yvette?
Mark didn't dare ask the reason. He had no choice but to follow orders. "Yes, I'll get in touch with the relevant parties right away."
After four years, most of the people at Lane Group's headquarters didn't know who Yvette was. Thus, her partnership negotiation didn't attract much attention.
On the way home, Yvette asked the driver to take her to the cemetery in the western suburbs.
Before she made her way there, she bought a bouquet of white daisies, like she always did. Now, she placed it in front

of James' grave,
"Dad, I'm back. I'm sorry that I've only come to see you now.

Compared to before, she was much calmer now. As she stood alone before the tombstone, she quietly recounted
everything that had happened over the years.
"I had wanted to bring Zac and Noah here to see you, but I'm afraid that Xavier and the Lanes will take the kids away from me if they find out about them. So, I had to leave them overseas. I know you won't blame me for that."
Yvette knew bett
than anyone that the Lanes wanted a grandson. Thus, she hadn't dared to risk losing Zachary and Noah.
As she was talking, her phone rang. It was a call from Ray. Ms. Snyder, someone's coming."
"Okay."
Yvette hung up. She turned around to leave when she saw a

Tristan was wearing a tailored suit and holding a large bouquet of daisies in his hand.
He stood a distance away while keeping his gaze fixed on Yvette. After a long time, he still didn't dare to tear his eyes
away.
Yvette's eyes flickered slightly before returning to normal. Her heels clacked as she walked toward Tristan.
Frozen to the spot, Tristan suddenly felt as though the
daisies in his hands suddenly weighed a ton. He didn't return to his senses until after a long time had passed. He felt like everything had been a dream. Unlike Xavier, Tristan had long accepted that Yvette had passed on.
It was James' death anniversary that day. In order to atone for his sins, Tristan had come to pay his respects to James in Yvette's stead.
However, it turned out that Yvette wasn't actually dead!
She had just appeared right in front of his eyes, alive and kicking!
