When Xavier went downstairs and stood in front of Yvette, there were still tears on her face. She was clenching her fists tightly as she cautiously slept on the couch. The thermostat in the room was set to cold, so he reached out to cover her with a blanket.
Then, just as he was about to call someone to deliver some breakfast, the door opened in the foyer. Daphne entered in her high heels, holding breakfast in her hands.
"Xav, I've brought you breakfast. There's going to be a celebration for the company's anniversary today, right? Let's go together later and..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her gaze fell on Yvette, who was sleeping on the couch.
She froze in her spot, unable to believe her eyes. She wondered why Yvette was there. Her imagination ran wild as she considered the possibility that Xavier and Yvette had slept together the previous night. Xavier looked at her with his sleepy eyes. He couldn't help but be suspicious of her. "How did you get
in?"
Daphne had entered the manor silently and hadn't had to go through security at the entrance. She could only do that if her fingerprints and face scan were in the system.
She tightened her grip on the bag of food. Her face had turned a little pale. "Madam Shannon set it up for me. She wants me to take good care of you from now on."
Previously, Shannon had specifically asked someone to add Daphne's information to the manor's security system so that the latter could come whenever she wanted. Shannon had hoped that it would help Daphne get pregnant with Xavier's child.
Daphne had only had the time to visit that day. She had wanted to call Cameron the day before, but the call hadn't gotten through.
She slowly looked away from Yvette and said in a low voice, "What's this, Xav?"
"Let's talk outside."
Yvette hadn't slept well the previous night. After she had come down, she had taken off her hearing aids. That was why the noise didn't wake her up.
Daphne followed Xavier outside. She couldn't hold it in anymore. "Why is Yvette sleeping on the couch?"
Xavier lit up a cigarette and said, "I told her to come back."
She was stunned. "Didn't you two get a divorce? I don't think it's wise to do this now."
Xavier retorted, "We're not even married, so isn't it unwise for you to come to my house whenever you want to?"
Daphne was stunned again.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Xavier picked up his phone and called the person in charge of security at Dewberry Manor. Then, he
told them to remove Daphne's data from the facial recognition and fingerprint systems.
Daphne listened to him silently and grew extremely upset. Even though they were standing outside, she could see Yvette through the windows.
Then, she looked at Xavier again and suddenly remembered what he had said two days ago.
"Xavier, didn't you tell me I had two choices? I've made up my mind. I want to marry you."
Yvette came out of the house at that moment. She couldn't help but stop in her tracks when she heard what Daphne had said.
He looked at Daphne and asked, "Are you sure?"
She nodded solemnly. "Yes."
She didn't care if there was no love between them. All she wanted was the title of Mrs. Lane!
Afraid that Xavier might go back on his word, she added, "You promised me, Xav. So, you can't go back on your word now!"
Xavier had indeed given her two choices before. However, he hadn't really been planning on marrying her to repay her for saving Shannon. After all, he had already done more than enough for her. Suddenly, he saw Yvette's reflection in the windows next to him. "Sure." He wanted to see how she would react after hearing their conversation.
Daphne hadn't expected things to go so smoothly, and she was obviously pleased. Then, she happily looked at Yvette, who was standing behind X
