Chapter 463
The next morning, Yvette received a call from Ray as she woke up.
"I found out who was behind the attack on you yesterday. It was Zoey."
Zoey, Yvette's half-sister from the same mother.
When Yvette heard this, she was momentarily stunned.
Ray continued, "When I went to handle the situation yesterday, I found out from those people that they planned to take you away and... sully you." Ray's voice became stiff as he said the last two words. Yvette clenched her fists upon hearing this. "I understand," she replied, ending the call.
Yvette couldn't comprehend why Zoey harbored such hatred toward her. The only thing she could think of was the situation with Jeremiah. Then again, she had no ties to him now.
She asked Cynthia to send her Zoey's phone number since they had collaborated before.
Cynthia quickly sent over the number and inquired, "Boss, are you planning to work with her again? She contacted me a few days ago, saying she wanted to buy another one of your songs. I haven't had a chance to ask you yet." Yvette typed, "No, it's for a personal matter."
"Oh, okay." Cynthia thought for a moment and then added, "By the way, boss, I recently noticed someone has been privately investigating our external shell company." The studio was a front Yvette had set up after returning. When Yvette heard this, she immediately knew people in Tirion were likely behind this. "Ignore them. Just focus on your work."
"Got it." Cynthia thought to herself that if anyone tried anything, she'd make them regret it.
Despite her sweet and gentle appearance, she was an international women's kickboxing champion. Most men wouldn't stand a chance against her.
Yvette wasn't concerned about anyone investigating a shell company. The studio had been set up to keep Xavier from knowing about her work. Now that he had lost his memory, she had nothing to worry about. After finishing her conversation with Cynthia, Yvette called Zoey, hoping to have a serious discussion.
Zoey had just finished a performance and was in the middle of removing her makeup when she heard her phone ring. She picked it up casually. "It's me, Yvette." Zoey's breath hitched.
The fact that Zoey hired someone to trouble Yvette wasn't exactly a masterful scheme. One could easily uncover the truth with a little investigation. "What do you want?" Zoey's tone betrayed her guilt.
"Let's meet up and talk," Yvette suggested. She then sent Zoey a location and time that was a compromise for both.
When Zoey saw the message, her lips twitched in anger. "Who does this bitch think she is?"
Yvette wasn't worried about Zoey refusing to come because the next text she sent included the evidence Ray had uncovered, showing that Zoey had hired people to hurt her. Even if it couldn't put Zoey in jail, it could certainly ruin her reputation.
Yvette wasn't someone who went looking for trouble, but she wasn't afraid of it either.
She wanted to talk with Zoey because, as her half-sister, Yvette assumed Zoey might be unaware of the full situation. So, she wanted to clear things up.
Yvette informed Viola that she had something to do and wouldn't be back until late.
Noah quickly asked, "Mom, can I come with you?"
Yvette shook her head. "Stay home and keep Grandma company. You have a check-up at the hospital this afternoon."
"Fine..."
As Yvette left, Viola watched her go and murmured, "Yvvy longs for familial bonds so much."
That was how human beings were they craved what they lacked even more.
Yvette had grown up without much affection. Other than James' love, she had never felt the love of other family members. So when she discovered that Zoey was herPublished by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

waiting. Like Yara, Zoey was very protective of her reputation.
