Unbreakable Love His Passion for Her Transcends Death

Chapter 440

Xavier quickly walked in. Pretending not to see Yvette, he placed the gift bag down.

Yvette asked suspiciously, "What are you doing with my stuff?" She walked downstairs and glanced into the bag, noticing the box was still there. "Did you look at it?" she asked again. Xavier stood still. "No. I can't see."

Yvette didn't believe him. He had clearly taken it outside and probably had someone else look at it for him. "Do you want to know what's inside?" Yvette tried to trick him.

Xavier's sleek eyebrows were slightly arched. "No."

Yvette didn't get angry. She sat down and opened the bag herself. "Your brother's gift is quite valuable. It's a gold pendant. I decided to keep it. Is that okay?"

Xavier silently listened to her deliberate deception, unable to call her out on it. Even though he thought there was no need to be jealous of what Yvette had done as a child, he begrudgingly responded, "Fine." Seeing his expression, Yvette understood that he knew what was inside.

Not only had he secretly looked at her stuff, but he also hadn't admitted to it when asked. And so, Yvette made it obvious that she didn't throw it away as she took it back to her room.

Xavier sat alone in the living room, his expression growing darker. When Yvette came downstairs later, he was sitting on the couch without saying a word.

Yvette deliberately ignored him and started peeling an apple for herself. "Do you want some?" she offered.

"No."

Yvette didn't bother explaining when she saw him sulking. "It's getting late. I'm going to sleep." She got up to leave. However, before she took two steps, Xavier raised his hand and firmly pulled her into his arms. Caught off-guard, Yvette leaned into his chest, her red lips brushing against his neck. Her hands, too, accidentally pressed against his thigh.

Xavier's breath hitched. "Yvvy, can we sleep together tonight?" he asked in a slightly husky voice.

Yvette's ears turned red, and her heart raced. "No can do."

She tried to get up, but her hand accidentally brushed against Xavier's inner thigh, making her quickly pull away. Xavier let out a muffled groan and grabbed her slender hand.

"I promise I won't do anything. I'll just hold you while we sleep."

Yvette wasn't naive; she couldn't possibly be fooled. "No. Let go of me."

Since Xavier had already tolerated Yvette keeping the keepsake from her past with Jeremiah, he was no longer willing to compromise. He scooped her up in one swift motion. Yvette clung to Xavier's clothes as her body was lifted in the air. "What are you doing? Put me down!"

Xavier tightened his grip when he felt her every featherlike breath against his face. "Don't move, or you'll fall."

Yvette stopped struggling, realizing

she was hanging in midair because of how tall Xavier was, especially when they reached the stairs. She quickly averted her gaze and stayed still

Xavier carried her to the bedroom and closed the door behind them. He walked to the bed, gently placed Yvette down, and then lay on top of her. When Yvette quickly tried to move away, Xavier's arm wrapped around her, pulling her back.

"Xavier!"

She couldn't understand how she was losing to someone who couldn't see. Just as she was about to bite his hand, Xavier remarked in a low voice, "Yvvy, what am I going to do with you?"

Yvette froze, listening to his murmurs.

"I'm upset." As he spoke, Xavier tightened his embrace.

Yvette relaxed slightly and stopped trying to pry his hand away. "Why are you upset? Is it because of the gift? You also have a first love, don't you? If I were like you, wouldn't I be upset all the time?" All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
