Chapter 405
When the people around them noticed Xavier's dashing looks, they couldn't help gossiping.
"It sure is nice to be good-looking. He has a sugar mommy even though he's blind."
"What makes you think she's the sugar mommy? I think she looks great too."
"That's true. So, is he the sugar daddy instead? Why would she even want a blind man?"
A few women were carefully discussing among themselves while they were shopping. Xavier could hear them clearly. When he heard them calling him blind repeatedly, he started to get furious. "Yvvy, please excuse me for a second."
"Do you need my help?" Yvette asked.
"No."
He tried going out by himself. He had memorized the path, and all he was worried about was walking into someone else.
A female staff member immediately approached him to help him. She asked flatteringly, "Where are you going, sir? Let me help you, alright?"
The smile on her face didn't last very long as he pushed her away and growled, "Get lost."
The staff member was so startled that she lost her balance while stepping back and fell to the ground.
The whole place became silent as all eyes turned to them, even Yvette's. It had been a long time since she's seen him lose his temper. In fact, it was the first time he'd acted like this since he'd lost his memories.
She immediately approached the staff member and helped the latter stand up. "Please excuse him. He doesn't like it when strangers touch him."
The staff member was so terrified that she only returned to her senses after a long time. "It's alright."
Then, Yvette grabbed Xavier's arm. "What's wrong with you? Can't you use your words? Why did you push her?"
He'd felt extremely uncomfortable when the staff member had touched him earlier. After hearing what Yvette said, he felt even more upset. "I didn't push her. I just removed her hand from me." "Even so, you have to be a gentleman, alright?" Yvette said softly.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
"Sure," he answered unwillingly. He didn't understand how he wasn't already being a gentleman.
After he walked out of the shop, he took off his jacket and tossed it in the trash can at the side. Then, he made a call.
A short while fater, the manager of the store pretended to be nice while kicking out the women who'd been gossiping about Xavier earlier. Since Yvette was busy choosing the gifts, she didn't notice what had happened.
When she was about to pay, the manager politely said, "Mr. Lane has already paid for everything. I'll personally send everything to your house later."
Yvette looked at Xavier, who was resting in the lounge, and wondered where he'd gotten the money to pay for everything. She walked to him and asked, "Aren't you broke?"
Xavier had already prepared what to
say. "How could I make you pay when it's my brother's engagement? I used the money I'd saved before. It's nothing compared to my debt." en.swhovels.net
After hearing that, Yvette said nothing else.
It took the whole day for them to finish buying everything. When they were on their way home in a cab, Yvette was exhausted, and she leaned against the window. "Remember, Xavier. You owe me a favor now."
She didn't want to silently contribute
to things for him. Instead, she wanted to say everything she'd done and get him to pay her back. Xavier pulled her into his arms and said,
"Yeah. I got it."
It started snowing heavily outside again. Yvette was so tired that she let him hold her however he wanted.
Xavier felt great as he held her soft body. However, since he was blind, he couldn't see her expression or tell how she was feeling at that moment.
"Why would they want to have an engagement now? After all, the year has just started, and everyone is so busy," she casually asked.
He held her tighter and said, "Maybe they're planning to get married shortly after their engagement."
Yvette was so tired that she didn't want to think too much about it anymore.
"By the way, who is his fiancée?"
"The daughter of the Yandell family, Zoey."
