Chapter 270
Xavier didn't answer Yvette. If he wanted anything, he would get it easily.
She didn't ask about it anymore as well. Instead, she sat on the warm couch and looked at the familiar surroundings. Her gaze was filled with nostalgia as she reminisced about the past.
"If you like it here, we can stay here in the future," he said. Yvette had a feeling that he had misunderstood her. Since Yara had never liked her, she hadn't liked being there at all.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Although James had been nice to her, he had spent most of his time at work. When he hadn't been at home, she'd had to stay there and watch how sweet Yara and Terrence were to each other. Meanwhile, she had felt like a stranger.
"I don't want to live here."
Xavier went silent. She looked at him and added, "You should just return the manor to Daphne. I think we should make things clear between us."
Kiki had submitted the divorce indictment to the court two days ago, and Xavier would learn about it soon.
Yvette got up. "If there's nothing else, I want to visit Kiki today."
Before he said anything, she put on her coat and left. It was truly cold outside.
He didn't stop her from going out. He just told someone to follow her and prevent her from running away. She wasn't planning on doing that at all. Instead, she was waiting to go to court with him. After she took a cab to Kiki's place, she saw the latter preparing various documents for the divorce lawsuit. Yvette had also gotten someone to send her the various hospital records she had abroad. "Is the application at the court successful?" she asked.
"Yeah. It has just been approved. Xavier should receive the news by tonight," Kiki answered.
"In that case, I'm not going back tonight."
Yvette received a blanket from Kiki and covered her legs. The latter was slightly worried about her. "If you don't go back tonight, will he go crazy?"
"That's even better. You should have some kind of voice recorder here, right?" Yvette asked.
Kiki understood what she meant immediately. "Of course. As a lawyer, I must have a voice recorder with me."
She took out a small pin and pinned it to Yvette's shirt. "If he dares to do anything to you, just press here, and it'll start recording."
Yvette nodded. "Alright."
Meanwhile, Xavier couldn't focus on anything after Yvette had left to visit Kiki.
He didn't know why, but he had realized that Yvette wasn't as easy to please as before anymore. No matter what he did, she didn't seem to care at all. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. "Come in."
Mark looked scared as he brought Xavier a copy of the indictment papers. "Mr. Lane, please don't be angry."
Xavier grabbed the document in confusion and saw the title on the cover page. His eyes narrowed, and he flipped through the pages. Then, he realized Yvette was suing him for a divorce. Xavier was speechless, and his gaze turned cold.
"When did this arrive?"
Mark answered, "The court sent us the document this afternoon."
Xavier inserted the papers into the shredder immediately and chuckled coldly. knew she wouldn't come back so willingly. Suing me for a divorce, huh? I can't believe she would think of that!"
He grabbed his phone and called Yvetted. His hand trembled slightly as he held the phone. The call was answered soon, and he got straight to the point. "So, you want to sue me for a divorce, huh?"
"Yes." Yvette wasn't hiding it either. "I came back this time just to get a divorce. Don't worry. I don't want anything from you after we get a divorce."
Then, she added, "The court has accepted the application. I'm not returning to Dewberry Manor from now on."
