Chapter 268
As Yvette spoke, she fell asleep without knowing it.
This time, Xavier was the one who couldn't sleep. All he could think of was what Jeremiah had said. "I'm the one she likes! I'm the one she wanted to marry!"
When he finally fell asleep, he dreamed about her leaving again. When he woke up, Yvette was still sleeping by his side, and it was dark outside.
Xavier couldn't sleep at all, so he got up to call Jeremiah. However, no one answered the call.
So, he could only call Shannon. "Mom, where's Jeremiah?"
"Jerry relapsed and is now receiving treatment. What's wrong?" she asked.
Xavier's gaze turned cold. "Nothing."
Then, he hung up. Shannon wanted to ask him about Yvette. When she noticed that the call had ended, she couldn't help but sigh. Then, she asked Mandy, "Has Zac returned to the kindergarten?" "The director said he hadn't returned to the kindergarten after his father took him away a few days ago," the latter answered.
She frowned and thought about it. "Have you arranged a meet-up with Kiki?"
Mandy shook her head. "She said she didn't want to see us."
Shannon didn't know what to do anymore. When she didn't see Zachary a few days ago, she lost her appetite. "When can I finally have a grandchild?"
Jeremiah was weak, and Xavier didn't want a child at all. When Shannon thought about how someone else would inherit everything Xavier had fought for, she felt more upset.
"Ask the director who Zac's father is. I want to meet him."
"Alright."
Mandy immediately did as she was told. It only took her a short while to find out that the father was Tristan. Shannon was shocked, and she immediately told someone to bring him there. Tristan had just finished performing surgery at the hospital when he received a call from Mandy, requesting him to meet Shannon.
The Shaws and the Lanes had always been close, and Tristan viewed Shannon as his own family. He took off his surgery gown and rushed to Lane Mansion.
When he was on the way to the
mansion, he sent Xavier a voice message. "Xav, your mom said you and Yvette are back. Is that true? Madam Shannon has asked to see me I wonder what she wants.

After sending the voice message, he put his phone away.
Meanwhile, Shannon had prepared a feast, hoping that Tristan would bring Zachary over. However, when he arrived, she finally realized it was all a misunderstanding. Zachary wasn't his son at all.
"If he isn't your child, then whose son is he?" That was the first time that she had lost her composure.
Since Zachary looked a lot like Xavier, she wondered if he was Xavier's and Kiki's illegitimate child. Could that be why Xavier didn't want anyone to know about it?
Then, Shannon thought about how
Kiki didn't want to see her at all
when they met outside the kindergarten previously. It seemed like Kiki was avoiding her at all costs. She thought something fishy was going on.
Tristan shook his head. "Who knows? I can't believe Grandpa wants me to marry her."
"She already has a child. It wouldn't be appropriate for you to marry her." Shannon comforted him.
Then, she felt sick and got some rest. When she returned to her room, she immediately told Mandy to look into Kiki's past and check who the father really was. Tristan stayed at Lane Mansion by himself and felt bored. Just as he was about to go home, he received a call from Xavier. "What did she want from you?"
He roughly told Xavier about what had happened. Xavier didn't want to know about Zachary at all. After all, the latter wasn't his child, so he didn't ask much about it. He thought Shannon just wanted a grandson too badly. However, he never expected her to dig way deeper than he had ever done.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Yvette still hadn't woken up. The breakfast that Xavier had told someone to deliver had turned cold. He made a call and told his men to deliver the food again after a while. Then, he entered his study room. When he turned on his computer, he saw the message that Yvette had left a message for him online.
