Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 67

Chapter 67

Brett used to find it gross, but now he was strangely looking forward to it. Since Izabella was good- looking, the baby from her belly couldn't be too bad either.

What Brett didn't know was that his mentality had changed, the woman he used to despise had secretly entered his heart, like a seed buried in the soil.

"When is Kaley getting discharged?"

Brett was holding the steering wheel with a straight gaze, and when he heard Izabella's question, he unconsciously gripped the wheel tighter.

"She'll be discharged in a couple of days. She's a bit traumatized. You better apologize to her when she's back, don't upset her any further."

Izabella found it amusing that he was so righteous, as if she owed Kaley an apology after everything that has happened.

"Apologize? No way, I don't think I did anything wrong. But to avoid further conflicts like this, I've decided to get a job so we won't see each other that much during the day. What do you think?" she kindly proposed.

Brett squinted his eyes. "The Salotti Group is gone, where are you going to work?"

"Is there really no other company in the entire R City that can accommodate me?" Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

Izabella, once a favored and wealthy lady, had now become someone that anyone could trample on at will. He didn't believe that her arrogant personality could tolerate people's finger-pointing and eye-rolling.

Moreover, he didn't want Izabella to work at all. Losing everything, she was like a flower that should be kept in a greenhouse for people to enjoy, no need for socializing or working.

She should move on from the past and accept his arrangements now.

Being so pretty, Izabella instantly caught people's attention when she went out. When she was still Miss Salotti, people's gazes were mostly polite and unobtrusive. But now, people stared at her without restraint, their eyes almost tearing her clothes apart.

Imagining such a scene, Brett became even more resistant to her working outside.

"Just stay at home, don't you dare go outside!"

"Brett, will you ever stop? You want me to get along with Kaley and restrict my freedom at the same time. Do you think the world revolves around you?"

Izabella rested her chin on her hand, staring out the window. "Also...you don't seem to know your sweetheart well enough. Once she starts, there will definitely be a second time. Either let her shut up, or I'll have to beat her into shutting up."

"You wouldn't dare!" Brett hit the brakes suddenly, causing Izabella's body to lurch forward. Thankfully she had fastened her seatbelt, otherwise this could've messed up her face against the car window.

"Watch me!" Izabella quickly adjusted her emotions and turned to him with composure. "And don't threaten me with Lucas anymore. If worse comes to worst, I'll just die. Nobody would care about my life anyway, so I might as well just disappear."

Izabella's eyes gleamed arrogantly, as if something within her had vanished.

This woman had changed, he didn't know if someone had told her something at the hospital, giving her the confidence to be so arrogant.

But the arrogance wouldn't last forever.

As they stared at each other, the atmosphere in the car became frozen and tense, making it almost impossible to breathe.

In the end, it was the horn of the car behind them that broke the icy silence.

Brett hit the gas again, and the two of them remained wordless the entire ride. However, Brett had made up his mind. If Izabella wanted to go out, fine. Some people had to face the harsh reality before they realized their limits.

Once she learned that the Felton Group was about to go bankrupt too, he wondered if she could still be this calm.
