Chapter 2

In my second year of middle school, my stepfather brought Lydia to our home.

Lydia resembled Lena, and Mom and Noel transferred their love for Lena to Lydia.

Lydia had anemia and was a rare RH–negative blood type.

my blood type is also RH–negative.

Mom said that as long as Lydia stayed healthy, she could use as much of my blood as she needed.

At first, I looked forward to donating blood to Lydia.

Since the accident with Dad and Lena, Mom and

Noel had been distant with me.

But every time I donated blood, they would buy me milk, bread, and even chocolate.

Eventually, as I donated blood more frequently, it became routine. They started to see it as something I was supposed to do, even believing I was atoning for my sin.

In my sophomore year, when Lydia needed blood, I was hit by a car on my way to the hospital. I limped into the hospital, arriving half an hour late.

As soon as I arrived, Mom lashed out at me, hitting and kicking.

My stepfather stopped her.

“Stop it. Just get the blood in quickly; saving Lydia is what matters.”

From that moment on, I understood that my greatest value in the family was that my blood was useful to Lydia.

Lydia also played her cards according to the situation. Seeing how Noel and Mom treated

me, she naturally believed I had no status in this family, that I was nothing.

My blood belonged to her.

Everything I have is hers.

If she wants anything of mine, I have to give it to

her.

Otherwise, she will cry, cry until she gasps for

breath.

And what I receive in return is a slap and a few

venomous curses.

“Are you so cruel? Don’t you want this family to be happy? Isn’t it enough that you caused the deaths of two people?”

“Your dad shouldn’t have saved you!” Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

A suffocating feeling enveloped me; home had become a cage, an impenetrable cage.

But at least, I was sick and dying.

My blood is contaminated with cancer cells, so Lydia can’t use it. I’m of no value to them

anymore. Shouldn’t they let me go?
