Chapter 228
Chapter 228
Grace paused for a while. She'd thought Heinz had left, and hadn't expected him to say these words to
Hermione.
She didn't know what she should do. After thinking for a while, she said to Hermione, "Chief editor, I'm
not going."
The chief editor smiled at her. "Grace, are you worried that I'll blame you for always leaving the office
during working hours?"
Grace was embarrassed. In the end, she nodded her head.
It was irresponsible to leave the office so frequently during working hours.
She felt that it was inappropriate for her to do so.
She just wanted to abide by the company rules and regulations.
Grace said, "I'm not going out. I think he'll understand. He'll respect my decision as well."
Heinz was also the president of a company. Grace had no doubt that he did not want his employees to
behave like this either.
After much consideration, Grace made up her mind not to go out to see Heinz.
Hermione nodded. "Well, if a woman doesn't have her own personality, her man won't treat her well."
Upon hearing this, Grace looked at her.
"However, I think you'd better send him a message. After all, a man's ego is very important to them and
needs to be protected," Hermione reminded her.
"Okay." Grace thought that this was a valuable reminder.
She agreed with a nod. "I'll send him a message now."
Outside the newspaper office.
Heinz was sitting in his car. He had almost finished smoking a cigarette while waiting for Grace. Maybe
Grace would come out.
And maybe she would not come out.
All of a sudden, his mobile phone vibrated. His heart skipped a beat, it was at the moment that he knew
Grace was not coming out.
He looked at his mobile phone and saw a text message.
"Heinz, please go back now. I'll treat you to dinner later, okay? I'll spend time with you from five o'clock
to nine o'clock."
He looked at the mobile phone in a daze. His facial expression had softened.
He'd finally started to understand her.
She would not cross the line. She would live by her own principles and would persevere on what she
wanted to do. No one could force her to do anything she did not want to do.
She was a person of character.
Heinz sent a text message to Grace by replying, "Okay, let's catch a movie tonight."
When she received the message, Grace felt an inexplicable sense of happiness well up inside her.
She felt that she was being cared for and respected by Heinz sincerely.
Grace smiled and put down her mobile phone.
She started working immediately. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
At around ten o'clock, after Heinz had left, a few people came to the newspaper office. They were there
specifically for Grace.
"Which one of you is Grace?" A woman asked in a sharp voice.
Everyone in the newspaper office was taken aback. They looked over and saw around six people
rushing into the office.
Grace noticed that the person in the lead was a woman. She was dressed in a professional suit. She
was a well-groomed lady and did not seem to be a simple woman at all.
She had thin arched eyebrows. It seemed that she was not an easy-going person.
Grace was sure that she was the one who had just spoken.
"Who are you? Is there something wrong?" Chuck Dorris, who was at the entrance, asked them.
"Where's Grace?" The woman yelled in a deep voice, "I'm looking for Grace to settle a score with her.
The rest of you, just mind your own business and don't interfere ! "
Grace stood up but did not speak yet. Chuck asked the woman again, "Why do you have to settle a
score with Grace? What do you have to bring along so many people?"
"Hey, who do you think you are? What benefit did Grace give you? Why are you defending her? Don't
tell me you have a crush on her too?" The woman said coldly.
Chuck blushed and shouted in embarrassment, "What nonsense are you talking about? We are
colleagues."
"Then why are you trying so hard to defend her if she’s just your colleague?" The woman counter
asked him.
"You brought so many people to our newspaper office! It’s obvious that you're going to hurt her!" Chuck
exclaimed.
He could not help but add, "I asked you because I care about my colleague."
"Ha! Then I guess you've slept with her, right?" The woman said coldly.
Chuck was furious and shouted, "Who are you? What right do you have to defame me with that
slanderous accusation? You're way too arrogant!"
T m Claudine Quell. Tell Grace to come out right now." Her voice was like a blizzard.
Claudine Quell?
Grace remembered that she was Jason Hudson's wife. She was also the First Miss of the Quell family.
This woman came to the newspaper office to look for Grace because she had caused Jason to be
detained. Jason is Claudine's husband, so it seemed that she wanted to take revenge for her husband.
With this basic understanding in mind, Grace walked towards her and greeted her. "Hello, Miss Quell,
I'm Grace."
Claudine turned around and looked at Grace coldly. She looked as if she was going to kill Grace.
"So, you're that insolent Grace?"
Insolent?
Grace frowned, but quickly smiled gently and said, "Miss Quell, I think I know why you're here today."
"I'm here to seek vengeance. I'm going to sue you for framing my husband." Claudine looked down at
her disdainfully.
Grace was stunned, but returned the cold gaze wit one of her own. "Miss Quell, the police will know if
I'm framing him or not."
"How dare you deny it? Grace, I'm not afraid of you even if you have the support from Heinz. I know
you colluded with the police to frame my husband!" Grace felt as if this woman's voice was like an ice
bucket being dumped on her head.
She was taken aback.
"We don't have to talk about such nonsense with her. Let's just teach her a lesson." One of her
subordinates said.
All of a sudden, an egg was smashed on Grace's forehead.
She recoiled at the pain on her forehead, and the viscous liquid on her forehead ran down her nose
with a disgusting fishy smell before rolling off her forehead and all the way down to her dress, soiling it.
Another egg was thrown at her shortly after.
"Hey, what are you doing?! Chief editor, someone is making trouble!" Seeing that Grace was being
smashed with eggs, Chuck called for help immediately.
"Beat them up. Smash all the things here!" Claudine shouted.
A lot of eggs were being thrown at Grace.
Grace covered her head with her hands. Her mind was in a mess now as the pain flared up throughout
her body.
It all happened so suddenly that she did not have time to think about how to deal with it.
"You b*tch, how dare you to seduce my husband and still frame him? As a female journalist, all you
think about is to sleep with someone to get an exclusive interview!" Claudine shouted spitefully,
ordering her subordinates to destroy the office.
It was a mess in the office.
"Beat this shameless woman."
"Beat her to death."
"Tear her clothes off! Throw her out to the street for the procession!"
When Hermione came out of her office, her eyes widened at the mess Grace had. Pieces of paper
were all scattered on the floor, things were being smashed and bits of broken eggs were everywhere.
All the while, Grace stood there in a daze, not moving at all.
