Chapter 2147
Chapter 2147
The fireworks were blooming in the night sky, so beautiful and dazzling.
The lively scene immediately caught the attention of the children of the Jones family.
When the fireworks bloomed, Ernest was calling Leah at the same time, and he didn't expect to see the fireworks.
He gasped out in surprise.
"What is it?" Leah asked immediately.
"Nothing. It's just a little strange that we're suddenly having fireworks at home." Ernest walked towards the window, seeing that the butler was indeed putting off the fireworks, and it seemed that it wasn't going to end too soon.
"How romantic!" Leah was also very surprised. "Does your family usually put off fireworks during the Spring Festival?"This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
"As long as fireworks are allowed to be set off, we will do it every year. During those years when we studied abroad and did not come back, dad would still put off some fireworks for my siblings. He would also capture some pictures for us. From what I remember, we will put off fireworks every year."
"Your father is really a good dad," Leah said from the bottom of her heart.
Thinking's of Leah's background, Ernest also felt sad for her. Leah's father didn't treat her well, yet Leah still decided to go back home that year along with her sister Rowane to celebrate the Spring Festival.
Although Ernest was extremely unwilling to let her go, he could only choose to respect her decision.
"My dad is also your dad," Ernest said, "When we get married, you can call him dad, just like how I do."
"What are you talking about?" Leah was a little embarrassed. "Who said I'm going to marry you?"
"Who are you going to marry if not me?" Ernest immediately changed into a serious tone. "You're only allowed to marry me."
Leah rolled her eyes speechlessly. It was not romantic of him at all to be so domineering.
However, she still felt really warm in her heart.
"By then, I could put off fireworks with you as well."
"Can't you put off fireworks with me now?" Leah asked.
Ernest was stunned and said in a hoarse voice, "I'd be more than willing to put off the fireworks with you now, but didn't you go home?"
"I'm not saying right now. I'm talking about when I go back in two days," Leah said, "We can also put them later on."
"Yes, of course," Ernest said, "Let's put off some fireworks then."
Saying that, Ernest gasped again in surprise.
"What is it?" Leah asked again.
"Why are there so many fireworks this year?" Ernest was puzzled again. When he opened his window, he actually heard Sebastian and Sylvia's voice, and they all seemed quite surprised as well.
"You can even tell the difference." Leah laughed. "I really admire your keen insight."
"It's really very different from how it always used to be," said Ernest. "I'm going downstairs to have a look. I have a feeling that we're celebrating something."
"Are you all celebrating the arrival of the new baby?" Leah asked.
After thinking for a while, Ernest said, "Perhaps so."
However, when he opened the door and was about to go out, he saw the luggage at the door.
The luggae was placed right at the door of Gary's room.
He was also slightly surprised, and he said with a smile on his lips, "It seems that there are indeed some things to celebrate, but it's not about mom's pregnancy."
"What is it then? You seem to have found out about it." Leah also felt happy.
"A very happy thing for Gary," Ernest said.
"What?" Leah exclaimed, "Could it be that Celeste has come back?"
"Perhaps," Ernest replied with a smile. "I'm not too sure yet. I'll go downstairs and have a look."
Leah was also a little curious. If it was Celeste, it would be really great. She'd also seen how Gary was acting recently and she was also worried for him.
If Celeste had returned, Gary would no longer be so dispirited.
Ernest quickly went downstairs and to the yard. When he saw Sebastian and Sylvia there putting off fireworks with the butler, he asked them while holding the phone.
"What's the big thing we're celebrating?"
"Ernest." Sylvia immediately ran towards Ernest and mysteriously said, "Actually, something big happened, but can you guess what it is?"
"Could it be that Celeste is back?" Ernest asked.
"Oh dear, how could you be so smart? You guessed it in no time." Sylvia was a little disappointed. "You're no fun at all. It's too easy for you, I'm so disappointed!"
"Is Celeste really back?" Leah said excitedly over the phone, "Seems like it's true."
"Have you heard it?" Ernest smiled. "It should be true."
"That's really great." Leah also sincerely thought that it was really nice that Celeste could be back.
Gary wouldn't be so down anymore.
She had seen enough of his long face those days, of how dejected and depressed he was.
Those sad days should be over then.
"I haven't seen her yet," Ernest said, "I'm confirm it with you later when I see her."
"Okay." Leah laughed. "Are you going to light up the fireworks?"
Ernest was stunned. It seemed from her tone that she wanted to hang up the call.
He looked at his siblings while holding the phone. "What is it? Do you have something else to do?"
Leah said, "I don't."
"Then why are you trying to hang up?"
"I was just thinking, shouldn't you be celebrating with your family?" Leah chuckled. "I just wanted to be understanding and end the call first."
Hearing that, Ernest's heart tightened and he felt a little distressed for her.
"You don't have to do that. My darling, you don't have to be so understanding."
He truly wanted to dote on her.
However, Leah felt that as a person, she should always be understanding, and that was something important.
If a person did not have a sense of understanding at all, he or she would only be unlucky in the future.
"Okay." Leah smiled. "I'll hang up whenever you want me to then."
After a pause, Ernest smiled and said, "Aren't you going to accompany your dad?"
"It's fine." Leah sounded a little upset as she said that, and it seemed that her emotions were a little down.
Ernest immediately noticed that Leah didn't seem quite happy.
"What's wrong? Is it upsetting for you to be at home?"
"It's okay." Leah laughed. "It was always like this back then for me as well. I'm already pretty much used to it long ago. It's much better this year than before anyways."
In fact, it was all because of Ernest that her dad and her stepmom weren't too harsh on her that year. Yet for the warmth she wanted, she still didn't get it.
Leah did not want to think about those things and did not want to waste any time on thinking about it either.
"Do you want to come to my house? I'll go pick you up," asked Ernest.
Leah was stunned, but she still rejected his offer in the end. "It's fine, I'll go over after the celebration."
In fact, Ernest could also understand why Leah insisted on staying there.
It was just that her insistence made Ernest feel really sad for her.
She did not have a sense of security. She'd always thought that she should be moderate and sensible in doing things.
That d*mn sensibility of hers made him feel really depressed.
Sometimes, it was good for her to be like that, at least she would seem much more understanding.
However, too much of that would just make people feel depressed.
He didn't need her to be so sensible, he wanted her to rely on him more, but she wouldn't.
Ernest sighed deep down, but he couldn't say anything.
That was because he knew that Leah had her own considerations.
"I'm going to see what's going on. I'll call you again later," Ernest told Leah.
"Okay." Leah did not linger on either. "Go ahead. Don't worry about me."
"All right then."
After hanging up the phone, Ernest did not go and put off the fireworks. Instead, he just stood there in the yard watching Sebastian play.
After Sylvia's fireworks bloomed in the skies, she put her hands together and it seemed that she was making a wish.
Ernest turned around and prepared to go back upstairs.
On the third floor, he found that the luggage in front of his Gary's room was gone. It seemed that Gary had carried it into the room.
In the room.
Gary waited for Celeste to finish bathing before sending her clothes in for her.
Up till then, he felt that everything was still like a dream, and everything felt so surreal.
Celeste had come back.
Celeste actually just came back to him, without him having to put in any effort.
How could it be?
This was too unbelievable.
If it weren't for the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, he would probably think that he was still in his own dreams.
However, it was not a dream.
Celeste was really back.
Time passed bit by bit as Gary continued to wait.
Celeste had not come out of the bathroom yet.
He was worried that she might catch a cold if she continued on, so he went to the bathroom and knocked on the door.
"Celeste?"
"I'm fine," Celeste answered as soon as she heard the knock on the door. "I'm not done yet."
Upon hearing her reply, Gary heaved a sigh of relief in his heart, "You can turn up the heater if the water is already cold." "Okay." Celeste responded,
then she stopped talking.
Gary stood at the door. A long while later, he opened his mouth and asked, "Do you need my help?"
Celeste paused for a moment, and her face flushed red.
How could he help her?
Her voice seemed a little stuttering. "No, I'm fine."
However, the door was already opened.
Gary's tall figure appeared at the door.
Celeste looked back and met the man's deep gaze in his bloodshot eyes and her heart suddenly tightened.
Perhaps he could notice that she was a little embarrassed and awkward.
Gary lowered his head slightly and walked in.
He said, "I'll help you bathe. Don't bathe for too long, you might catch a cold."
Hearing his caring words, Celeste didn't dare to look at him. Her eyes were stinging and tears were about to fall down her cheeks.
She blinked hard to force her tears back, not wanting him to see her in such a vulnerable state.
To be honest, she felt that she didn't know herself anymore as she could actually have the courage
to come back.
However, she did not regret her decision.
What was more, he could still treat
her so gently, just like how he did before, as if he did not even care about her leaving and wanting to break up with him. It all made her feet really guilty.
"Gary." She choked with sobs.
Perhaps he could also see the guilt on Celeste's face. Gary lowered his head and looked at her. Sitting on
the edge of the bathtub, he reached into the bathtub with his slender hands. He scooped up some water
and patted on her delicate skin.
She was dumbstruck, and her whole body turned red.
Gary's eyes tightened. He had been suppressing his longing for her all the while, and as he was looking at her then, the one that he loved so
much, he felt his emotions surging

He did not say anything because he was afraid that Celeste would hear him trembling if he spoke.
"I'm sorry." Celeste apologized to him.
That was because she really didn't know what else to say apart from sorry.
She was really sorry.
"Shh!" Gary shook his head and helped her bathe. When his hands landed on her skin, it felt extremely hot. "Don't say sorry to me, it was my fault."
"No, no!" Celeste shook her head. "It's not your fault. I was being too greedy."
"You silly girl." Gary shook his head. "I'm happy that you have high expectations of me."
That was because only in that way could he love her with all his heart.
Only if they loved each other enough, would they have expectations towards each other.
That was because they loved so hard, that was why they wanted more.
That was because they cared, because they loved so deeply, that was why they were greedy.
He approached her, his expression very gentle, but it also seemed very tired.
From his face she could see that he hadn't been resting well for a long time.
His warm breath brushed against her skin, and it felt like he would kiss her any next moment if he just lowered himself a little.
