There’s nothing there
Marco gazed at Letta, who was basking in the morning sunlight that now leaned against her shoulder before he reached out to gently stroke Letta’s face.
“Does your body still feel sore?” Marco asked, causing Letta to shake her head.
“NO, it’s just that I feel like I’m in an empty space,” Letta replied without opening her eyes. Letta was still leaning on her husband’s shoulder, trying to feel the breeze brushing against her skin. She just wanted to feel if her current life was real or if she was just hallucinating.
“What do you mean?” Marco asked again.
“I feel like I’m not someone with a purpose in life, especially these past few days when all the bad things seem to be closing in on me. Even the nightmares seem to be haunting me,” Letta said, finally slowly opening her eyes to look up at Marco, who was also looking at her.
“I feel like I’m confused,” Letta said again, making Marco, of course, understand what Letta meant. After a few days of her condition deteriorating, Letta often had nightmares, whether they were her imagination or actual unpleasant events she had experienced, and all of it haunted Letta every night, causing Marco to finally pull Letta’s shoulder to look at her before embracing her tightly.
“Whatever happens, I will never leave you. You remember, right? My promise. I will never let you go. Even if you push me away, as much as my love is, and not as much as it is, I don’t want to be apart from you,” Marco said again, making Letta fall silent.
“I feel something very painful. But I don’t know what the cause is,” Letta said, making Marco once again only able to see his wife’s pale face.
“Can you not think of anything that makes the pain worse? I promise I will make you forget all the nightmares you’ve been having,” Marco said again, making Letta smile.
“Yes, I believe you will. You will surely do your best for me and Freya,” Letta said, making Marco nod. Letta then leaned back on her husband’s shoulder.
“Look at that backyard. Hasn’t the grass grown tall? When was the last time you told Desi to clean it up? Hasn’t it been a very long time?” Letta asked, trying to shift her mind to another conversation, her gaze fixed on the garden near the towering fortress that bordered Marco’s large house.
“Yes, the gardeners rarely touch that garden. Why?” Marco asked, making Letta turn to look at her husband.
“Although I had told Desi to plant some trees, why didn’t you tell the gardeners to take care of it? I’ve been busy with Freya every day, so I couldn’t see the backyard,” Letta said again, making Marco look at the fortress, where his bad memories were trying to be held back.
“You can plant trees elsewhere. Just leave the backyard,” Marco said again, making Letta shake her head.
“Isn’t it a shame? Besides, the garden is also very spacious. Why doesn’t the fortress surround our house and instead divide it in the middle?” Letta asked again.
“I don’t know, I have no idea which architect designed it that way,” Marco replied.
“Wouldn’t demolishing it allow us to expand the garden? We could get rid of the fortress and build a new one that could surround our entire house,” Letta said again, making Marco shake his head.
“I’m too lazy to create a commotion around the house, so let it be. Besides, we already have a spacious enough flower garden and the like. We don’t need to expand it further,” Marco replied.
“Wouldn’t it be nice if you could make a field? Perhaps something that isn’t here yet, utilizing the land. Wouldn’t that be great?” Letta said again, making Marco smile.
“Yes, I will consider it after you recover. So, instead of thinking about the neglected garden, it’s better to focus on your health for now. Didn’t you also say you miss Freya very much?” Marco said, making Letta nod her head.
“Yes, I miss our little daughter. What is she doing? Does she miss her mother too?” Letta asked again.
“This morning Mommy called, she said Freya was very happy and not fussy. I’ve also instructed them to send breast milk to Mommy’s residence,” Marco said.
“No, can I just hear her voice?” Letta said again.
“If you’re feeling better in 2 days, we’ll go see her. I promise,” Marco said, making Letta immediately put on her pouty face again.
“Alright then, the sun is getting high and it’s not good to be outside for too long. Let’s go inside,” Marco said, making Letta finally reach out her hand to welcome Marco’s hand to guide her back inside the house.
Marco hugged his wife’s shoulder tightly as they entered their large house again. Even the servants were seen looking at Letta out of the corner of their eyes, worried about the condition of their Lady of the house. Marco was about to take Letta up the stairs, but his steps stopped when Letta stopped him.
“I don’t want to go to the bedroom,” Letta said, seemingly bored if Marco kept taking her to the bedroom to rest.
“Then, didn’t we just come from the garden? Later, when you’ve rested, we can go out again, maybe to the TV room or wherever you want,” Marco said.
“But I’m not sleepy yet. I’ve also rested for too long. If I keep sleeping, my head will only get more dizzy,” Letta replied.
“Alright, then where do you want to go? Maybe you want to eat something. I can ask Desi to prepare it,” Marco said, making Letta shake her head.
“No, I want to go to the library. Yes, at least to read a book,” Letta said again.
“We can do that in the room. I’ll pick out some books for you from the library and bring them to the room. How about that? You can also read them while relaxing a bit on the bed. It will definitely be comfortable,” Marco said, who was indeed very attentive to Letta’s current condition. However, it seemed that Letta did not agree with her husband’s opinion.
“I want to read in the library only. I’m tired of constantly being in that spacious room. Even though you accompany me, it’s still not the same. Besides, you also have to monitor your work at the office, don’t you?” Letta said, finally making Marco unable to refuse his wife’s request.
“Alright, then, but no more than an hour, okay? You have to take your medicine and rest immediately, okay?” Marco said, making Letta nod her head. They then walked towards the library. As usual, Letta always drew attention to the hallway that seemed to have its door locked.
“Am I still not allowed to go there? Can I go there?” Letta asked, pointing to the locked big door.
“There’s nothing there. It’s just a storage room,” Marco said, making Letta furrow her brow.
“Are there any valuable items in that storage room? Why do you have to lock it with such a big padlock?” Letta asked again.
“There are no valuable items. There are only unused things. So, just ignore it. There’s just some junk. Besides, if you want to get valuable things, you can just tell me and don’t need to search in the storage room,” Marco said, making Letta look up at her husband.
“The more you forbid me, the more I want to go there. Wouldn’t it be really exciting if we found a treasure, perhaps?” Letta’s words made Marco laugh.
“There’s nothing like that. All my treasures are in the safe. You can look for them there if you want to find treasure,” Marco said, making Letta pout. However, Letta was truly very curious about the building in the back hallway that seemed to be tightly locked by Marco. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
